The story and idea were fun and original :) A little more momentum and a challenge to gameplay could be interesting. I would pay attention to a consistent art style to make the game look more polished. I liked a lot of pixel characters :)

Collecting tabs was good idea, but if you want it to be clearer to someone who doesn’t play quitar, some simpler symbol like a notes could work better. While playing i missed feedback on progress. There were good vibes in the game ^^!

Thank you for the nice feedback and the suggestions. Yes, art is not my favourite discipline and I absolutely underestimated it :).

I really like the theme and the story. The guitar riffs was a really cool thing to be the output of what you are collecting. I would like to see it if you kept it going with a deeper game loop and more iterations.

Developer

Thank you for playing and the nice comments. I defenitely plan to add  some more things in the future :). First target would be mobile play, but of course also the game loop can be improved :).

If there was a score for writing this would get 5-star easily!

I wish there was a better way of working the backwards mechanism ... I get what it is, it just wasn't that obvious how to deal with it

Thank you for the nice words. Looks like someone has the same silly sense of humor as I have :). As a newcomer to HTML5 game development you may have realized that I tried to overcome some of my lack in knowledge about coding with a funny story :).

Agree, I also had the same feeling during playtesting. Need to think about it how to improve.

Turns out taking photos while dodging asteroids is not the weirdest sidescroller idea in this jam. Collecting riffs while dodging time singularities, now we are talking.

The remembering part was not my cup of tea though, but reached a pretty good place on the charts I think.

The movement could be a bit more fluent, and there should be little more cohesion in the art, but afterall, this is a nice little game.

Thanks for playing, the nice comment and the suggestions for improvements. Yes, 29 is pretty good! Congrats!

Nice game! I especially liked the deafeat phrases haha. That God protects us from new Matrix movies.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing it and I am happy to hear you had some fun with it!

Yes, there are already two which were not necessary :). I was a bit afraid that some people would be offended by some of the phrases, because they reflect my opinion (on very minor things :D). Until it doesn't seems to be, but maybe I will see it in the ratings :).

Pretty good! An interesting idea, and I like the vibe. The gameplay is a little too easy/simple.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the nice comment.

The main mechanic and idea should be that you need to do a difficult decision: "Should I go further to get more riffs or do I better turn around as long as I can remember the way I took back!". From your comment and the others I can see that this "feeling" doesn't come through as much as I expected. I also realized this when I playtested it. I need to think about how to improve it and I am open for suggestions :).

My best score is 51.

Cool thats pretty good! I increased the difficulty just before the deadline, as one of my playtesters got quite quickly a No. 1 hit.

Maybe I need to decrease it a bit and adapt the chart rank calculation. I am not 100 % satisfied with the formula I use, but couldn‘t think of something else.

Anyway, thanks for playing!

I play the guitar and it was interesting for me to find  such a game here :) Also the story is quite funny.

The  graphics  is the thing  that  definitely  can be improved here. It was hard for me to understand that black-and-white square is a riff :)

Thanks for playing and commenting.

Yes, I agree especially compared to the graphics from your game! It was the first time I did graphics and I completely underestimated it. So I kept it simple and stick to very simple pixel art. When I "designed" the riffs I tought of a guitar tab... but I agree that this is not very intuitive but I couldn't think of anything else when I was in game jam stress mode :).

Yeah, eventually I got it that it's a guitar  tab :) Well, overall well done for the first time :D

Really enjoyed this. Cool that you implemented your real self/guitar into the game both musically and in the story. The gameplay was very basic, would be nice to see the future speed up or having to avoid more obstacles along with the riff changing/speeding up. The writing and style were funny which was the best thing for me. First time I died I got the country music quip and it had me going. Cool little game.

Thanks a lot for playing my game and the nice comment!

It‘s my first game I fully finished and I am pretty proud of it, even as it is not technically very complicated. I am happy it made you laugh, that‘s all what this game is about :).

Looking forward to play your game!
