This game is a certified hit if you continue to work on it. Very clever adaptation of the theme, and very creative game in general! Good luck and cheers!

This is so creative! Well thought out platform effects and hazards, this is sick. The composer's hand moves with the cursor! That's insane.
Very fun musical platformer. Good difficulty ramp up and cute character. Maybe a bit too much tutorial up front. Most of the note types are quite self-explanatory. Overall very charming and fun game well done!
Really fun and creative!! I don't think I've really played something similar to this before, so it's a testament to your visual design skills that I was able to pick up on what each of the note types did pretty quickly during gameplay. I also really like that there's both changing of the playfield and speeding up the music was a great way to shake up the difficulty. Awesome job!!
Such a creative bullet hell idea. Idk how many bullet hell/platformers I've seen, we need more! I love the design of how you have to go towards the rewards above the notes that shoot bullets, it was an interesting push and pull. I do wish there were platformer polish bits like coyote time (being able to jump a bit after you fall) and jump buffering (if you press jump a short time before hitting a platform you still jump) but those are only a bit of polish. I was also confused when I started as to what each upgrade did, so it would have been nice to have a pause menu where you could read the instructions instead of only being able to read right at the start. Overall I had a hard time coming up with critical feedback so this was a really polished game, great job!
This was polished from start to finish! Haven't seen much done with music in this jam so far, very creative premise. At first I was a little nervous seeing so many pages in the tutorial, but once I started playing it was easy to understand. Hope to see more games from you in the future!
Nice work! I was wondering of anyone was going to make something relating to music loops and you absolutely delivered! I love the chaos when the midi really starts building up and having the cursor move around was a nice touch!

Excellent work. Having the speed increase to function as the game's difficulty was a nice touch. The only thing I would change is make it so the player can increase the bpm whenever they want.

The concept is very very creative, text wall tutorial is something you should really try to avoid in the future XD tbh this game didnt need all that explanation at least for me, you can just say how certain nodes have effects and are triggered when the line hits it and the player just slowly finds out the effects by themselves.
Anyway really good entry, good luck with your future games :D
Thanks! Yeah, that was the original idea. I would have to add different instruments, each with their own sounds for different pitches, or just pitch-shift the note sounds in Godot, but I’m not sure how much that would distort them. I’d also need to build a working MIDI editor, though that system is already kind of in the game.
The real problem would be making DJ Toenail compose good random music. I have some background in music theory, so I’ve got a few ideas for that as well, but it was way out of scope for this jam unfortunately. Might have to call the dude DJ Toenail now XD!
