I have finally uploaded a full walkthrough including the identity of the Uninvited Guest at the very end!

Pretty decently executed game actually with a funny story.
I have very little to complain about this entry except to say I was expecting to look for more subtle clues and changes while changing between cameras instead of obvious monster eye balls appearing. The painting changing was the best clue imo.
Day 1:
You can't do anything but leave the first room.
So, interview all the suspects and then familiarize yourself with the computer.
Interview the guests again, then click on the glowing green computer in the first room and type in a guess.
Day 2:
More of the house has opened up. After the Theo death cutscene, head to the Upper Hallway.
Click on the key in the painting to obtain the Art Gallery key.
The door on the right side will bring you to the Art Gallery.
Now inspect the scroll in the painting and remember what it shows for later.
Submit a guest guess to proceed to the next day.
Day 3:
You now have to find where Morgan is (It's not necessary to find Edgar).
On day 3 you now have access to the outside of the house.
Head outside to the Garden. Look for the door to the Shed.
Inside the Shed click on the toilet.
After the Morgan death cutscene head to the Entrance Hall and make another guess to proceed to the next day.
You now know Micah's name so you could guess him.
Day 4:
After the Damon death cutscene, you now have access to the door he was blocking upstairs.
Head to the Upper Hallway, then go left into the Guest Bedroom.
Click on the dresser to find the shovel.
Now with the shovel, go out the garden and click on the patch of dirt.
You now have access to the Stairwell (the locked room in the Entrance Hall).
You can explore it now or later, there's nothing upstairs to find yet.
Day 5:
Watch the day's death cutscene.
Day 6:
Watch the day's death cutscene.
Day 7:
Now you can explore the house and outside at night.
Through the garden you can click on the arch in the bottom right corner to access the Cemetery.
The Cemetery has an underground door to the Crypt (There is a subtle WELCOME sign in the Cemetery pointing to it).
After the death cutscene in the crypt (only plays on Day 7), notice there is a light on in the Crypt.
This door only opens once the light turns on (Day 7).
Enter the Secret Lab.
Go up the stairs into the room with the giant musical organ.
You have to input the notes into the organ that you found in the scroll in the painting in the Art Gallery.
The correct sequence is: 76544 123432
A cutscene will play showing the Empty Room at the top of the Stairwell.
Head to the Empty Room.
Inspect the floor Glyph which contains the last clue of the game.
Now you have one last guess you can make on your final night.
IDENTITY OF THE UNINVITED GUEST:
The correct answers you can input into the computer are:
...
...
..."i" "me" "myself" "player"
The theme was a great idea and the visuals work really well for it.
The problem is there's control issues:
Pressing esc to return back into the walls conflicts with pressing esc to disable fullscreen.
A 3d browser game should have an option for camera speed because it's too hard to get that right for everyone first time around.
There was no real difficulty in terms of gameplay aside from fighting with the camera.
This is a great idea for a game that just needs gameplay improved.
Nice to see a game similar to my own.
Very simple and elegant and well crafted game.
The tutorial is impressive as it actually explains how the game works very well.
Easily one of the most solid entries to the jam I've played. Well done all around.
only criticisms:
1. instead of a button to change between kick/keep it would be nice to use left mouse button and right mouse button.
2. as far as I can see, there's no logical reason to choose one of the zombies in level 6 over the other, and so you have to rely on using your lives in order to make a guess.
3. a game won "congratulations, you won!" screen or something would have been nice.
It takes awhile to get to the actual game. I start off just walking around the base until I find the computer. Then I check in at the computer and figure out what to do. But more importantly it takes awhile to figure why I'm supposed to be doing anything. Without reading the gamejam description and knowing an uninvited guest would show up at the ice station (The Thing 1982) I'd have no idea why I'm playing the game. After checking everyone's status at the beginning and reporting it, my immediate next thought was, "what do I do now?"
The UI and controls and general engine stuff are good though, my criticism is just how long it takes to get to the real gameplay. The game world was logical to navigate, and the color of the main character being different worked well to make them stand out.
It has promise but I noticed some objects not working like the refrigerator as you said.
The biggest thing I would fix is making the controls more explicit and known to the player
(I even sat the title screen for awhile not knowing what to do before I tried hitting space).
When I died twice because I couldn't hide in the fridge or the cabinet I had to stop playing then.
With these problems fixed the game would be enjoyable.
Having a built in tutorial as well as multiple difficulties for a jam game is a really nice addition.
I would suggest in the tutorial popups having the image of the floor tile type next to its name when its referred to because it took time to memorize which tile had which name.
Like others have said, I found even the tutorial a little difficult.
I would suggest having an extremely easy first level just so people can get a hang of the game first.
The game is clearly not a minesweeper rip off as it has many impressive and original mechanics.
The visual style is also very good.
Thank you!!
The characters were from the same pack I found in the credits (except for one).
I could try to make the mouse detection more accurate but I was in a rush for the jam. There will be a post-jam update and if I have time I may work on mouse detection. Thanks for the debug tip.
Please get that teammate to rate it 5/5!
Thank you!!
Yes I agree as others have said some music would help but I ran out of time.
"Btw- I failed and everyone died. In the end I solved the music puzzle, and got the message in the tower (attic?), but... it was useless? Or did I miss something? I feel like I need a tiny nudge in the right direction :)"
You have everything you need to solve the game, trust me. Just try thinking more creatively!
I will upload a walkthrough before the end of the jam if you want to check.
Thank you!!
Yes, I had to use one character from a separate pack (and made sure they were killed off early!)
I didn't know about the organ bug, sorry about that. I'll try to fix it after the jam but I don't know what could've caused it.
Others have talked about the lack of music, and I agree I'll add some after the jam.
Did you manage to guess the correct guest?
It started off fine with the character swapping mechanic, but after a few levels I got stuck with my characters just spamming random horizontal movements and I wasn't sure how to continue. Felt like a softlock or unexplained mechanic. The biggest fix would be explaining to the player more what to do. Including sound would also be a major improvement.
Certainly an interesting and unique idea.
There were some problems with execution: the controls for moving Anka with the space bar, and aiming with Tim wasn't easy either. The game also suffered some frame rate issues even for being a 2D game.
Curious what happens at the end of the game but it didn't seem feasible to get there.
Plays well in browser for a 3d game. The concept was nice and well executed.
As far as the game play goes, I notice some other comments about the UI that I seem to agree with.
I wish I didn't have to play through the entire thing again to get the good ending (but I will).
Gameplay: 4/5
Visuals: 3/5
Sound: 3/5
Theme: 5/5
