Newbie?
Yes - I'm new to game jams!
How does your game fit the theme?
You help an NPC to START making levels again, which is symbolism to myself to also START making games, which is something I love to do (I had done it previously in other mediums, but this STARTS my programming journey). There's also the fact that this game is based on my dream game, so STARTING on that can also fit the theme. Yes siree.

THIS WAS AMAZINGGGGGGG
THE ART, THE MUSIC, THE DIALOGUES AND META JOKES, AND THE LEVEL DESIGN ARE GREAT DUDE, I LOVED IT!
You didn't just nailed it, YOU KILLED IT, cuz this game feels soooo smooth and so good to play! Completely amazed by how the levels slowly teached me how to pass even the hardest ones! Amazing difficulty curve you used! Probably I'd just change the player movement when shooting up because it doesn't allow momentum for going forward unless you touch the ground, but since I could play without it it's more a game feel thing other than necessary lol
I have no words to describe how fun this was, amazing submission dude!
The propulsion is a simple yet deep mechanic. Definitely something you could base an entire game off of. I could see adding enemies that need to be shot with the projectile for more complexity. Great work!
Cool design. I love the cube and the hairy cookie. I think the movement could be slightly better - there's a little bit of stutter moving forward. Good job overall!
The propel mechanic is a really cool concept, but it would be nice to have the option for rebind controls, felt a little difficult to time my jumps correctly. Also game would be massively easy and fun to control with a gamepad. Still managed to reach the final level tho (and found the little easteregg on the cloud). Pixel art is really nice, level design is good and difficult. And having to restart after dying feels pretty nice as well, Transition was short and sweet. Really great game overall!
I liked a lot the visual style and the music, also the platforming elements. It was so much more difficult than I expected though. I really enjoyed the general vibes, allowing to talk to each character was funny. Maybe It's skill issue, but damn those levels took me a lot of tries.
Good job!
What a sweet story behind Kyube as a character, well done on your first game jam! The story fits great to the theme's meta connotation and the controls were really fun to get a hang of. Furthermore, bringing the elements of platforming into the hub world is a nice touch and really adds to the flavor of the setting. The visual consistency was great and I lived for the icon.svg cameo.
This game is super underrated! The movement is great, the characters are charming, and the music and art is incredible. I played it till I beat it (loved the funky music and extra dialogue for the 100%). Very much celeste movement vibes but with your own spin on it. Bravo! (Also I really hope you can turn this into your dream game. (: )
Super cute art! I loved all the npcs, talking with them, and using the jump mechanics learned to discover secrets in your little town. Each character was cute, unique, and teaching the tutorial guy to enjoy his passions again was a lovely interpretation of the game theme. That said the difficulty was a little frustrating to me. I would have loved to have been able to rebind the launch key to something else as it felt a bit awkward being on shift, and the character movement was a little slidey to me. But I am also notoriously bad at platformers.
really cute game, i love the dialogues changes and npcs, quirky and fun. i hope that shovel kid gets his own game someday, would be a blast to play
A cute game. The jumping animation is so cool. You should really look into adding platformer mechanics into the game (coyote time etc).
I think there's a lot of interesting ideas and mechanical depth with the gimmicks (especially the way reusing targets is done), but it feels like the difficulty might be a little too harsh, and the timing too strict with the tricks (mostly because of the controls, they felt a little clunky). Certain sections had me thinking I had to approach the targets vertically instead of diagonally because there was a lack of speed boost sometimes if I hit them. Could definitely be fleshed out into its own interesting platformer, and is still honestly a really good twist on the traditional celeste-styled dash platformer!
Interesting game, cute artwork. I could not really get the hang of the backward shooting/dash, but it made sense.
I think adding “coyote time” (you can jump for a brief window in mid-air) would really help the platforming aspect of this game.
I love the vibe of this game! Also the main character is literally a Geometry Dash cube lol
Really good stuff! Interesting base mechanic, and it has a lot of potential. I never managed to beat the game, I got stuck on the bit with the 3 targets, however the moveset is really interesting. Although, it can be tedious to use at times, as I will unconsciously be holding A or D during a jump, and do a diagonal boost rather than a vertical one. That being said, really nice art, really interesting base mechanic, and a lot of potential for a really great platforming game. Good luck!
just really good. Mechanics were solid, art and music were great. Story was a decent reason to progress too. on the last level, i wish there were more checkpoints - each platforming challenge was really hard and i couldnt do them consistently.
