This game is so uniquely fun. The theme is presented and makes for a great replay. The game could use more level design to really push different upgrades but still a solid entry!

Oh wow this comment makes me so happy! Thank you so muchhhhh!!!!
The sandwich thingy is definitely intentional haha. I was playtesting with my brother and he somehow got stuck in between a bunch of shielded enemies, it cause him panic and he come back with a strong hatred for shields and bananas. Fit the vibe so well so I decided to keep it!
So happy when you pointed out the muscular monke! That was me 2 AM at night and I had to find an excuse to add muscular monke. Originally it was supposed to be integrated into another upgrade but I thought it'd be more funny to dedicate a whole downgrade to add a new sprite in. The wide hand is improvise after I forgot to draw a separate sprite. I already spend too much time drawing so I just stretch the sprite, works wonderfully in my opinion.
The New High Score calculator is easy to implement but playing on the web means I have to save the data in people's browser. I don't feel too good about all that so I just go with the trolling method. The code for it is in the game but I choose not to implement it. Now I glad I didn't haha.
Again thank you so much for this comment!! I just started my morning and coming to this message makes my day so muchh!!! Thank you for your monke / 10 review!!!
Thank you for your feedback!! Glad you're enjoying the game! The whole point of the game is to make you addicted to monke haha (that means procrastination) (seriously hope you didn't procrastinate tho). I'll definitely fix the slo-mo effect in the post-jam update.
Here's a little secret: I initially put the slo-mo to force everyone to appreciate the animation.
Will fix it tho.
I can see the personality behind this, vibe check past! This game is nothing (literally) (in a good way please I'm not insulting). The dialogue is the highlight of the game, the dialogue is weirdly good and so silly, I love it! The art is simple and works well with the silly tone of the game, I especially like the menu screen with the 3D title and the fish background at the end. The game is nothing but it brings me something. If that makes sense. I dunno. I'll have to start hanging signs so I don't forget.
Yup, of course. For starter, you could try to introduce the puzzles slowly, the first puzzle for me took some time cuz I was not used to the movement yet and learning the mechanic while trying to navigate take me quite a while. You could dedicate a level to teaching individual mechanics and then put them together slowly to make the gameplay feel engaging. This means giving really easy puzzles at first but taking a few win before facing a hard challenge would definitely help! Hope this help and good luck on your future projects!! (Or this one if you decided to continue)
Cool art! I love the cutscene animation at the start, so cute. I understand your take on no instruction gameplay, but allowing player some agency or small goal before jumping into the main part would make the game feel more welcoming. Took me a bit with the puzzles but still a cool entry for your first jam.
Awesome game!! I knew the moment I saw Shovel played it on stream I gotta go check this one out. The camera work is incredible, make me happy every time even when I blasted off the map lol. Phenomenal work! Shame there are so many bugs and workaround for the game but it in no way affect the overall thrill of driving around at full speed (and shove my face down the ocean). Well done!!
i like the concept, this has potential to become some really tightly designed platformer. some design techniques could be implemented to make the game better too, like coyote time or buffered input. I'd love to see the ability to set the jump button to a different key (since the controls took me a while to get used to). overall a great entry for your first gamejam! well done!
