Game Description
Infiltrate the purgatory as a demon and send a maximum number of souls to hell without being discovered.

How does your game tie into the theme?
You need to consume souls for the devil, he likes to have always more people in Hell. This is represented by the win condition that is to send a maximum number of souls to Hell.

Very funny and interesting twist on Papers Please kind of game. Played it with the bf watching/giving advice over the shoulder and was a blast.

- Had interesting situations where we were really unsure or not if the person was going to get us punished for being sent to hell and started getting armchair philosophical about it
- Laughed out loud when we reached a point of the game where good and bad deeds can be shuffled and bf pointed out "THEY STARTED 2 FOREST FIRES!?"
- Also laughed when he'd read faster than me and I'd go "damn this guy's spotless" "Dictator."

Wishlist/Random improvement ideas as tribute:

- Wish the game had a communicated ending, we were very excited to see how else it would shake up the formula but found out the only thing that changed was the thresholds and quantity of souls to judge.

Wow this comment warms my heart. Thanks a lot for sharing these anecdotes. I develop videogames to have a positive impact on people during the time of their play, and knowing that you had fun playing together is the best thing I can read. Thanks also for the improvement ideas ! Time was short on implementing new mechanics past level 3, but I've many ideas to continue the game afterwards. Cheers :)

This was a lot of fun, straight to hell for anyone who has committed the sin of developing a video game.

Art was really nice too, although the pixels looked a bit stretched.

Great work

Yeah these video game creators are a weird species. Thanks a lot !!

Cool! But where’s the 'consume' theme?

Developer

You have to consume people souls to make them go to Hell :)

Very cool game! I just think having to press the bell is a bit unnecessary. Other than that, I liked it a lot!

Developer

Thanks a lot !! I will tune the game after the jam, taking into account your Quality Of Life suggestion :)

Ahaha I LOVED it, blew my cover a couple times and loved the humor behind some of the good and bad deeds. Cute game liked the pixel art style would have liked the next judgement to be automatic

Developer

Thanks a lot for the comment !! That is really nice

Good job! I liked how every day lead to new rules expanded on the base game. The game has a very fun concept but I feel that the randomness can be skewed too much to "good" or "bad" people. If I was given lots of "bad" people it was fairly easy to meet the target and not blow my cover. But there were runs where I had lots of "good" people which made it more difficult.

Developer

Thanks a lot !! You're entirely right on the balance. I did a lot of balance tweak throughout the week to make it feel better. But in the end, you can still loose due to bad rng. It can be improved by an alternative generation of characters and/or more tools for the player not to be punished by rng.

Fun gameplay and I like how varied the actions were

Some criticisms:

  • Bad case of mixels (inconsistent pixel sizes) that make the graphics look less cohesive
  • Having to click the "next judgment" bell to get a new person to judge every single time was kinda annoying

Thanks a lot for the comment and criticisms !! It really helps. It was my first time using pixel art illustrations, I will work on rendering it better in the game next time.

Great game! I love the idea and love the things that the people did

like helped a turtle cross the street but committed murder

I had a great time passing down judgement, although it seems I have very different standards of what it takes to get into heaven. Had a blast either way.

Thank you !! Your're right, the points associated to the character actions need more balance to give the player the feeling that their decisions correspond to what they think is "good" or "bad", and not that they have to think around what the game decided is "good" or "bad". I think it requires a lot of brainstorming and playtesting to have it the best as possible.
