Nope - I've completed at least one game jam before.

How does your game fit the theme?
half the battle of getting started is figuring out what to do. So our game relies on the player figuring out how to collect and use new ingredients to live out their noodle shop dreams

Really good! I encountered a bug where it didn't let me put the noodles in the pot anymore so I got kinda stuck, but I like the variety of ingredients and customers you put in the game! Keep going :>

A relaxing game with a good and clean artstyle. I can imagine myself playing a more refined version of this game with more ingredients, more variety of customers and more ways to cook things. I found some problems with the collisions later on tho but overall a good job!

It's a nice, relaxing and simple game.
I really like the sounds and the art, and the animations are a really nice detail!

I only had a little trouble with the collisions, as sometimes the noodles wouldn't go inside the pot, and I also noticed that when the noodles were served the bowl would sometimes be on top of the ingredients list.

Great job though, congrats to the team!

Pretty cool idea, would love to play more if this gets expanded.

For starters, the art is incredible, it really makes the game stand out! As for the gameplay, it's just as good! I always enjoy these cooking and serving types of games and yours is no exception. It might be a small detail, but it was really fun to stir the pot haha. I also liked that you could choose where to gather ingredients and the different combinations you could make. The sound effects and music are also a vibe, I really like them! I can definitely see this game expanding into something larger! Great work!

Lovely visuals and a relaxing atmosphere. A more expansive and polished version of this would've totally been one of the more popular flash games back in the day.

Even though there aren't many individual cooking components, the possible combinations of customers, ingredients, and ways to prepare those made me want to experiment in all kinds of ways.

The easter egg with the controversial radio station was amusing.

Overall, a great game jam submission!

There's so many story bits we wanted to cram in here but we were limited on time, the podcast is my favorite little bit! PenguinSphen did a fantastic job!

THE FISH PEOPLE ARE REAL??!

Submitted(+1)

It screams Papa's Noodleria, in all the best ways. It's a very cute and charming game, I love the cooking mechanics and being able to experiment with the different ingredients is very fun. Also, I hate the turtles, they hated every dish I made (assuming the green things are turtles, which, if they are not, my apologies to the general turtle population). Jokes aside, this is a very fun game and I could see myself investing too much time making burnt squid on noodles.

They we're intended to be lizard people but I had a hard time getting a good doofy looking lizard character. Here's the fully body shot:

i could see this being one of those childood games everyone remebers yk? like papa's pizzeria and such. Really good job, just need a bit more polishing

if you have the time feel free to check out my game as well, i would love some more feedback

Really good, the game did consistently bug after a few customers but oh well, love the idea of combining different techniques to prepare the food. something like a grill would be a cool addition. The penguins remind me of the penguin from Wallace and Gromit.

Developer(+3)

Its funny you say that...

Submitted(+2)

I was very scared of the penguin when I first watched the movie, just couldn’t get a read on him you know? Glad he’s doing well now. Although this could be his laundering business 😆

I could see myself spending hours on an expanded version of this game! It was so charming and fun to play ✧.゚I loved experimenting and not feeling like I had to be perfect from the get go, the customers were very patient with me haha! Also I think including some cooking SFX would definitely elevate this game!

So fun! Loved experimenting with all the ingredients!

Cute penguins! Reminds me of club penguin haha. It also fits nicely with the theme.

Very interesting concept, and I'd like to see it expanded with like fried noodles, boiled + chopped fruits etc. I feel like most of my combinations always end with the ashes which was a little bit sad. Also encountered some bugs but that's fine for a game jam.

Pretty fun overall and nice art style, music and overall vibes/weirdness of the game!

So there is a boiled and chopped starfruit asset but the order that ingredients is cooked is important! The fried noodles idea is killer though <3

Really cool art you have there!

I love how y'all took the spirit of the game jam theme and put it into the gameplay! I had a lot of fun experimenting with different ingredient combinations, some to greater success than others (sorry to those who had to eat uncooked worm slop). It was nice design choice to not punish the player for getting bad ratings. I enjoyed sitting back and relaxing while running the noodle store, good vibes only.

The art and music was super charming too and pulled everything together! Awesome worldbuilding and I thought the cast of customers was awesome.

Cute and comfy game, loved experimenting doing whatever I wanted instead of being forced to make stuff the same way. I did somehow bug the game, I accidentally put two noodles in a bowl, throw it out of the screen from the left and then I wasn't able to put anything into the pot or the pan, had to feed those aliens with bowls of raw noodles, yum. It's a shame they didn't like it and gave me 0/5 stars, those entitled customers ugh.

What a cute game! I love all the little characters that come around. It didn't get tedious for me because I enjoyed the different foraging spots to get ingredients, and the character variety. I never quite got good at the pan frying, but nobody got too mad at me I guess, so I did well enough! The art was really lovely by the way, so adorable.

Developer(+1)

lol you're adorable, I love how wispy and dreamy your game is!

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the game loop. You somehow managed to make worms look appetizing; I'm impressed (ง'̀-'́)ง Great job!

Developer(+1)

How do you know worms aren't appetizing? Thank you <3

Submitted(+1)

The atmosphere of this game is absolutely scrumptious. I am two seconds away from frying me some worms, why'd you make them look so good >:[

The fun part of the game was figuring out what people like and experimenting with ingredients. Around halfway through I found out that you can add more than 2 ingredients to your bowl and I was like "WHAAAHT". The game is very charming!

Developer

Yes but did you try boiling them? Meaty noodles on noodles!  ;*

Thank you for playing!

I really like the art and atmosphere of the game, but found the gameplay to be a bit repetitive and not very challenging as there doesn't seem to be any kind of punishment for doing badly (to my knowledge)

Developer(+1)

part of that is the point. If you know how to consistently cook good meals, you've finished the game.

Punishing the player for cooking bad meals would really hurt experimentation. The puzzle here is essentially trial and error, and if the error is punishing then it becomes just awful.

Game looks good, it reminds me a lot of the old flash game era with its hand drawn art style. one thing i wish was that there was more of a reason to try and give the customer the best possible meal. One thing that I did like was the fact the different customer types had different food preferences which meant there was more strategy to the ingredient gathering phase.
