Fun bit clicker-style game with a bit of crafting etc. mixed in!

The music was super cozy and really calming 🎵
Visually, it also had a cozy vibe. At times it felt a little cluttered, and I had to take a moment to focus, but nothing major. It looked good. Was fun to find specific stuff that you need. Easy to play/

Theme....check âś…

A solid jam entry! Well done! đź’Ş

Thank you so much for playing! Glad you had fun:)

Might be a weird thing on my end, but the resources you get from mixing other resources (like the bookbag) were unobtainable for me, It stayed at 0 no matter what I did, which I felt was kinda crucial- either that or im an L gamer. Game was pretty fun, but it has a high cpm (click per minute) rate  if you want a decent score. Cool game!

Developer(+1)

Ah this might be because you need to check a tickbox on the top left which says add crafted items to inventory! It was a part of the tutorial, but i should have made it more obvious haha.. anyway, give it another shot with it, its much more fun ;)

What a cool game, and a great name to go along with it. I also love the quirky and mysterious music, which at first glance doesn't seem to match a fishing game, but nevertheless very fun and cool to listen to! As mentioned in the comment 2 below this one, the game, with the bubbly UI and touchscreen-like mechanics, felt a lot more like a mobile game, which I think is a category this would succeed well in!

The gameplay was also quite fun, and it was addicting to pick through the trash to find the right materials to fill up a recipe and here that satisfying "cha-ching!" sound. The upgrade system was also quite nice and added more dimension to the game.

Now, as with all idle/clicker/fishing games, there isn't much of an objective other than getting as far as you can before getting bored. It might be interesting to add more mechanics that force the player to make more strategic decisions, and the backpack system is a good start, but it could be utilized better. At the moment, the game just feels like "Pick up all the trash as fast as you can and get as much as possible.", which is what clicker-type games do feel like, but it feels like the gameplay is lacking a more complex level of strategy.

Despite this, I had a lot of fun playing! Consider exploring the mobile game category more, as you are clearly quite a talented game developer. Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and the encouragement, really appreciate it :) I agree with your point on the depth and the need for more complexity.. based on the great ideas ive received as feedback, ive already started thinking about what new features i can add!  Im glad that you enjoyed playing.. Cheers!

I found that this game has the same inherent flaw that plagues many “get rich” games in that you’re just clicking around to make a number bigger. However, this isn’t a huge problem as some people like that kind of game, so it didn’t affect your score. You could try to resolve this using mutual exclusivity or synergistic interactions that synergize one thing more than another if you plan to update it.

However you nailed the theme perfectly! Everything did in fact feel like a resource. Easy 5 stars.

Another gameplay wish is that clicking the button to get rid of a material instead sold it, with pitiful values being applied to non-crafted items.

Nothing to say about the visuals and sound that hasn’t already been said.

Well done!

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks so much, for playing and the feedback! The synergizing idea is really good.. hadnt thought about that one!, i will need to put some thought into what interactions will happen etc. But thanks for that :D Youre right about the selling part for some scrap value also. that did cross my mind briefly but i decided against it for this jam, but i will integrate it later. Glad that you played through till the end :)

Cash4Trash is a great name! The bubbly UI feels like a mobile game and I think the mechanics/gameplay might be more fun with a touchscreen.

Developer

thanks :D yes, I got a similar feedback from some others, so I may look to do a mobile version in future! Thanks for playing and commenting,  glad you like the name:D

Well done! I think this is one of the best executions of the theme! While I was not a big fan of the audio, especially the music, the gameplay hooked me in immediately! Only complaint is that the crafting timer overlaps with the inventory widget when not in fullscreen. Other than that, great job!!!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and for your feedback. I will look into the music to make it more interesting and the UI bug, thanks :)

It's hard to find fault with the game. It has a good visual, addictive mechanics, a tutorial, and a well-developed theme. The only thing I would add is more variety in the gameplay with these mechanics, but the game's concept is fully realized, so this is just my personal preference. Overall, the author has put in a lot of effort and achieved a great result

Developer

Thank you so much, appreciate the kind words! Based on the feedback received i have a lot of ideas which will definitely add more variety to the game, which ill be doing post the jam :)

Really well done, a perfect interpretation of theme. I dont' have much to add to what others already said, just a couple of minor things. There's a typo on page 3 of the Tutorial ("reasures"). The "Skip tutorial" button is too "inviting", it shouldn't be so prominent, I think. Great game.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! I will address these post the jam:)

The theme here was really used in a very literal sense, and that made the game's concept really fun. Collecting trash and creating things through recycling is something I’ve seen in a few games, and without a doubt, it's a great starting point for the theme.

Honestly, I don’t have much constructive criticism to offer because the game is well-polished in all aspects. The tutorial is simple and effective, the gameplay is fun, enjoyable, and intuitive, and the limitations aren’t frustrating — on the contrary, they make the game challenging in just the right way.

The game really reminded me of something you’d find on mobile, especially those that focus on passing time and enjoying something casual — probably the reason why it’s so addictive.

The only thing I wish it had is scroll control to make switching items faster or slower depending on the direction of the mouse scroll. That kind of mechanic would give us more control and a better sense of command, catering both to players who struggle a bit and to those who want a faster-paced challenge.

The question marks were also an excellent choice — I saw they’re part of your Easter egg, and they hold some pleasant surprises. I think some power-ups would also add to the gameplay, such as one that enables auto-clicking, one that collects the specific trash needed to create the most valuable item you can sell at the time, or even one that replaces items in your inventory with ones from a different category to ease crafting during that moment.

These are just ideas in case you decide to expand the game (and I definitely recommend you do, because it has a lot of potential). Congrats on the project, and good luck in the jam!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and the detailed feedback. All great suggestions, in addition to the ones others have given, and also thanks for the encouragement to make this into something bigger.. i definitely plan to do that now :)

That was fun — really engaging! I don’t have much to critique, there’s barely anything to complain about.
But still, something feels like it’s missing, just like some people mentioned in the comments.
There’s definitely room to grow!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing through! Yes based on the feedback ive received so far ive already identified ways i can improve this, and looking forward to more.

This game is exciting! It makes me want to keep doing the core gameplay loop of just clicking and picking and crafting! Great tutorial! I like that you could follow along or skip. I could see this as a really successful mobile game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed! Thats a great idea, i could make this into mobile.. il have to learn it first though haha

Pretty nice polished game with a good graphics.

If the music were a bit fast paced that might've gone better with the game.

Overall easy to understand and play. Would be fun to play on gamepad or mobile..

Developer

hey thanks for playing and glad you liked it! With the music , I get your point.. I was initially going for a more relaxed vibe, but turned out later that it's a bit frantic:D and I couldnt really find anything else!

Really great game! Good progression and easy to understand. I did accidentally press the restart game button on the pause menu assuming it was resume but I guess thats kind of on me. Had a fun time though!

Developer

Hey thanks so much for playing!

I liked the idea of recycling to get money and more craftables, the like everything is a resource to progress and the artsyle is nice. Good game! :D

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you liked it!

Submitted

If only it was this simple to recycle trash :D. I liked the SFX and trying to get bigger numbers is always fun. Once I got the tent crafting recipe it was all I ended up making to get tons of money, pretty neat.

Developer

Thanks, glad you had fun and you figured out a nice tactic!

Submitted

The game is very well-made! The art is great and the music fits well with the game. You've definitely done a good job with the theme! Good work!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and appreciating :)

I like how the game seems very simple upfront, but makes you hunt for specific types of junk towards the end. All the elements really fit together- the graphics and music work just fine, and the use of the theme is spot on. There is only one thing missing in my opinion. If this game had online leaderboards- that would be perfection!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Online leaderboards is a really good idea, and i wanted to do that, but i didnt know how and i thought i wont get time to implement it if i learn it now :D But i will learn to do that now that the jam is over and put that in. I also read your suggestions on the discord group on leaderboards. Thanks for the feedback :)

I played until the end and enjoyed it very much! The only thing  I'd mention is that as we progress, we need more space as more unique items show up, so maybe a backpack upgrade would fit nicely. But overall great game! It has a nice progression

Developer

Great idea! It had crossed my mind briefly but i decided against it since i was running out of time! But glad you enjoyed it :)

Submitted

Hey man, I enjoyed your game quite a bit

I find the gameplay loop quite enjoyable
and the simple but effective background song

Developer

Thanks so much!

Submitted (1 edit)

ok this was actually so much fun !

liked the mechanics and the art a lot

but why the timer tho

maybe if u made it that u can collect clocks on the road it wouldve been much better

Developer(+1)

Ah great idea!! Thank you so much for playing till the end! I somehow always end up putting a timer.. i dont know why haha, but yes great suggestion :)
