nice chill game, i like the fact that you have to deal with the star goal being affected by gravity too. the controls still need work (especially the flip ablity which was pretty inconsistent) and even though the visuals on their own are fine, i'm not a fan of stretched graphics (some platforms for example)
I love the animation of the character, it's very goofy in a good way. As others have said the flip was inconsistent, but other than that I really enjoyed the concept. The art style was also very fitting! Well done!
Lol thanks so much! I will keep yours and everyone's feedback in mind while making future games. :)
Fun gravity reversal game! I like the art style and the level design was fun with the sticky platforms and stuff. I wanted the character to move a lot faster, and the invert gravity was really inconsistent for me, I'd have to spam space bar and it'd work maybe 20% of the time for some reason. Nice work!
I did try playing on my friends computer and they had similar issues... I'll have to learn how to optimize my code more efficiently in the future to avoid these problems. In terms of the character movement, I wanted it to have a floaty movement but because of my lack of skill (and time), I wasn't able to test it out properly, making the character feel awkward.
Thanks for the comment, I'll try to get better!
Game is very calm, but sometimes I really wanted character to move faster. Also did not hear any sounds, but turns out they were just very quiet. Fun game!
My plan was to try to make the character floaty as if it was on the moon or smth, but I wasn't able to manage the time properly to test out the movement and animation, making the character very awkward as you have seen (also I sped the walking animation a lot because of the tapping sfx it makes when it walks... gotta learn how to slow that down).
There was a weird issue with the sfx and music, so that is smth that I have to def work on.
Thanks for the comment! I'll def learn more and make better games in the future. :)
Simple and fun platformer puzzler. I couldn't complete it due to Safari on macOS crashing the tab due to memory consumption after the fifth or sixth level (it was the first one where you had to move the star), but I liked the visuals and where the game was headed! Thanks for making and sharing it!
The code for my game is extremely inefficient and elementary, so I will definitely learn how to optimize my code better in the future. Thanks for the comment!
Very Calm vibe to this, Nice Job! Noticed a few times I had to press space 2 or 3 times to get the gravity to flip but could have been something on my end
Oh, that's so strange... I did try playing on my friend's computer and it was a big glitchy and buggy. I'll try to figure this issue out in future games. Thanks for the comment!
I love the slow-paced calmness in your game. Nice work!
Thanks!
Nice game! For a second project, this is really solid! I love the visuals. The player could move a bit faster, and the audio’s a little too quiet. Also noticed there's an input box on level two, might be better to replace that with a label. Other than that, the game was super straightforward and well put together. Great job!
I HAD NO IDEA THAT WAS AN INPUT BOX!! 😭💀
My first intentions of the player movement was supposed to be like a slow, floaty movement as if it's on the moon or smth, but I didn't have the skills to do that yet, nor the time...
The audio is definitely quiet and I'm not sure why, the music and sfx were working fine when debugging on Godot (there is even a particle effect on the star once the player touches it, but it doesn't show)
Thank you so much for the comment, I'll make sure to learn from my mistakes!
the reverse sound is very quiet. the electricity looks a bit odd. the run animation is way too fast for the movement speed. for a game about gravity, gravity doesn't feel great. apart from that, it's a pretty good game, although a bit hard. the music is nice but i dont feel like it loops as well as it can (don't worry, there's some echo which is hard to get right and godot is limited when it comes to audio). for some reason, there's this level i cant pass that i think requires me to get on the roof but i just die a few seconds after i touch it.
Thanks for the feedback! The sfx, music, and animations were fine when I was debugging on Godot, but for some reason, after exporting as html to itch.io, it gave me the errors like the ones you spotted (there's even supposed to be a little particle effect when the player gets the star but it doesn't happen and I don't know why).
The electrcity animation should've been like a linear line of electricity with different sparking animations, but there was some complications in the code when the player touched more than one of the electricity collisions, so I had to space it out weirdly.
In terms of the run animation, I had to speed it up a lot because the walking sfx it made went really fast so I just wanted to match that (maybe I should put like a one-second timer each step the player makes or smth).
I did wanted to polish up the game if I had time, like the flow of gravity and difficulty, but after spending so much on planning the game instead of actually making it, it was rushed...
If you are referring to the 5th level with the moving platform that you cannot pass, there's a small sticky platform on the ground in which the player has to reverse gravity to lift the star up and then normalize the gravity again to make it stay on the platform without touching the electricity. It is hard to see, especially because I completely forgot to allow the maximize screen system in Godot...
Thanks again for the feedback, I'll try to be aware of these problems in future games!
my game had the same problem but only for level design and the actual reverse part in 2 days
it turns out that at least 1 other person had the same idea
Wow that was a lot of fun I figured I would see at least one gravity reverse game for this theme but you really nailed it. space mans controls were tight and smooth with the gravity reverse and the "learn and test" was done very well. that last level with the rolling/floating star was challenging but I was so pumped up when I final got it. Great job and thanks for the great game.
Thank you so much for playing! I'm glad you were able to complete the last level, I tried to distance the electricity from the star not too far to be easy, but not too close to be hard. c:
I know what you mean. With such a short time crunch its tricky to find time to play test to make sure its easy enough to complete but not so easy as to be boring. I always go too easy.
I like the visuals, also the sticky platform, that disables your ability
Thank you!
Nice little gravity-reverse game and the gfx is super cute. Well done!
heheh thx, I'm honestly proud of the astronaut as well c:
