I got stuck after examining Mom's Drawer. The text box would not go away and I couldn't leave the room. Good job on the art!!

Developer

Ah, very sorry to hear that! Could you tell me what you did prior so I may find where the problem lies?

Submitted

I cooked food for the little brother then went upstairs and went in the first room I think. examined the drawer and that's when I wasn't able to proceed further.

Developer

It might be the web build that's causing the issue; the web version isn't very stable due to some browser limitations (Edge is one of the prime suspects).

Was the problem consistent? e.g it happens every time even after a refresh? Could you tell me what browser you were using?

Yo! Well done with this game. It has some really nice sidescrolling graphics, sketches, and an overall very interesting and intriguing premise. I loved the idea of being both victim and perpetrator. It certainly does have an unnerving atmosphere. Keep making awesome stuff :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback and kind words! It's truly appreciated!

much respect, the sprites looked really good! Loved the style. Had some trouble with keybinds at the start but got over them pretty quick. I love how you were able to make something with such a cutesy art style actually creepy near the end. This would definitely get a manlybadasshero playthrough when finished lol.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

It's funny that you mentioned that. That's actually what I was hoping for while making the game, I watched Manlybadasshero's playthrough of other VN/Story-based games to get inspiration for some of the aspects of the game!

lookin forward to seeing it finished man who knows maybe I’ll watch him play through it over some dinner soon

I like the art and the story! The environment is unnerving and the final section is pretty disturbing. Good work on making something with cute art also creepy!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Although I did regret making such a hand-drawn direction for my game, as I burned a lot of the submission period just drawing everything (the Map itself took 8 hours), so I'm really glad that people like the art!

Wow that was super cool, I think this may be my favorite from the jam. Feels like a game I would see Alpha Beta Gamer play. Trying to get the alternate endings now. The only real complaint I can give is that there is no walk animations but besides that this is really nice.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! The lack of animations or any other sprites is mostly due to not enough time as you might've noticed, even the sprite when talking has no other emotions, which is definitely NOT FINAL. Your feedback is appreciated!

There were a couple speedbumps figuring out how to navigate (what key to interact, that I had to _look_ at stuff to interact) but I think it was worth it. I love this 2D sidescroller perspective (for horror games especially) and wish there were more games that did it. The portraits and sprites are all fantastic too, and the color scheme is a unique choice that fits the mood really well. And the parts that switch perspective are unexpectedly disturbing.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! The intro was originally intended to serve as a tutorial, but due to the limited timeframe, I had to cut it out and turn it into a cutscene. I appreciate the compliments on the art! Makes spending a whole jam drawing them worth it!

Nice work, and good luck in the jam!
Developer

Thanks for checking the game out! Many apologies, I forgot to put a barrier in the outside section. As for the text skipping, that was a bug; it should've skipped to the end of the text and not skipped into the next dialogue and as for the sprites, I just didn't have time to make them sadly. I appreciate the feedback in the video!

Congrats on your submission!  I really like the artwork but I am pretty sure I ran into a bug. I didn't find the control keys listed anywhere so it took me a while to find out to press E to continue the story.  I was trying spacebar and clicking and nothing was happening so I tried another browser and when the same thing happened, I started pressing all the keys until I moved the story along.  When you are supposed to 'Call for someone' the character would not move with A or D, only S moved the character to the right, so something got confused.  Moving A wouldn't move me back to the right.  I kept accidentally skipping the story because I'm used to pressing the key to make the full text appear.

Developer(+1)

Sorry about the control keys! I forgot to put them in the game page.  As for the text skipping, that was a bug. Although I am not sure about the movement bug you've mentioned, I've tried replicating it, but it wouldn't break like how you would describe it. Anywho, i've published a patched version that should fix most of the issues the previous build had. Thanks for the feedback!

loved the story, loved the art style (i saw the among us eyes, don't deny it), not sure what to do after i found the nails which did in-fact made me tense up a bit, but this is easily my favourite game for this jam! I'm keeping my eye on this geam! (also how did i post 4 times lol)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I don't know if the message didn't appear to you, but the dialogue should've explained what to do after you've found the nails! (also yes among us eyes ඞ )

Cool game, I like the story a lot, initially I was confused as to why the sister was boarding up doors. I wonder if she knew exactly what was going to happen.

I feel like the speed the text appears is a bit slow for my tastes, I also would like it if pressing e when someone is talking skips the typewriter effect and shows you the entire text, and to advance you press e again.

The art style is really nice too, really like how the characters look.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for checking my game out, and I appreciate the feedback on my art! The text skip should've worked but on my first build it would skip to the next dialogue for some reason. I already fixed the issue in a new patch.

Ah yes, apologies, I was just finishing up the game page
