Thanks for playing!  If you can't find the key in the kitchen, something might be bugged with either the resolution you are playing on or the browser perhaps.  If you want, I can DM you with the location where it *SHOULD* be, as to not give things away to others.

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing!  We ran out of time.  If you saw the credits rolling, then you completed the puzzle.  There was actually supposed to be another step in order to find the clues for completing the puzzle and then an outro, but we wanted it to finish, so we ran with what we had.

Awesome!  I like the use of  brighter colors to give it a 'lighting' effect to PICO-8.  Very interesting twist on a classic.

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing!  Yeah, we were trying to make it dark, but not TOO dark, still wanted everything visible.

Agreed and that's completely understandable.

I'm not entirely sure what happened with your export, but I've never needed to include the .godot directory with my builds.  I tried yours without it and it wouldn't run.   Normally, it should just be the .exe and .pck files unless you embed the pck, then it normally just runs as an exe without any extra files.  That aside, I think the platformer would have felt a little better if you would have used One Way collisions on the elevator platform.  I didn't notice if there was any coyote time , but that might be something else to look into for future projects as people who don't play platformers as much can have an easier time navigating.  The jumping/falling felt a little fast to me.  After I died about 3 times, I did get the 3 skulls and reached the you win scene with the exit door.

I love the concept, the art.  I like the chat scrolling in the background.  This reminds of Rollerball or DeathRace only considerably darker.  I could take 1 turn but when the NPC went nothing happened.  I restarted several times and the items in the middle changed.  A couple of times I couldn't take a turn.  I wasn't given the option for confirming my move.  When I did roll I couldn't tell what I rolled so I had to randomly click around.

I thought this was great.  It wasn't spooky by any means, but I kept expecting a jump scare because I thought it looked too friendly haha.  I really dig the animations and voice acting.  The idea of watching the DVD and controlling the character's actions was neat.  What did you use to develop the game?  The 10MB size is pretty impressive!

Same issue.  Can't download the game.

haha.  Yeah, I think the problem might be that it's only on one of the windows and not both.  We might need to update that if we revisit the game.

I got into the computer screen, but couldn't do anything with the text files, computer icon or recycle bin on there, I'm not sure if that was coded yet or not.  I imagine the note with the roman numerals was meant to do something with the VHS tapes but I couldn't click on them to modify anything.  I know you said it was unfinished, so I don't know what all was planned.  Some ambient noise in the background or sound effects for the different areas could make it more engaging.  I like the doubling effect when you mouse over things.  For a mostly text-based story, I personally like the words to appear in sequence as if someone is typing rather than a paragraph appearing.  I don't know if that is even a possibility with whatever engine you were using.

I wasn't sure if there was something to do outside of the game.  I tried going into the game and shooting the people and getting out but the shadow thing still came after me.  I like the art, but the characters walking felt a little stiff since they didn't animate.  I think maybe some wobbling or bouncing up and down effect would make it feel more alive.  I noticed the shooting was not coming out of the gun itself but the center of the screen.   A quick fix might have been to have a raycast coming out of the gun.

That was neat.  I liked where this was going.  My suggestions would be for the main character talking, I would have cut out the outside of the character and made that transparent.  Even if it wasn't colored, it would have at least looked like a cutout.  For Sound effects, look up pink noise, that's kind of what they use in StarTrek for the engine rumbling.  Also, a satisfying *SNIP* when you cut the cord would have been cool too.

Thanks, that helps narrow it down!  I used: Microsoft EdgeVersion 121.0.2277.128 (Official build) (64-bit) No plugins/addons.  I was unable to reproduce the crash.  I tried going in and out of the bedroom multiple times and at different points of the story.  The code to go from the bedroom to the TV room is the same for all of the doors in the game, so if it crashes on one it could theoretically crash on any of the doors.  The only thing I can think of that would have caused a crash is a problem loading the sound or the next room.  When I was first programming the doors, there were no sounds available and I prevented crashing with an if statement that says if the sound is null, skip it, so my thought is that it had the sound file listed but couldn't actually load it for some reason.  If we revisit the game for more chapters, I'll do some more digging and see if I can get it to crash.

Thanks for playing!  I tried to keep the puzzle box easy, but I didn't want it to be too easy.  It was *MUCH* easier to visualize when I had 1 - 8  instead of the symbols.  There are tutorials online for doing slider puzzles so I was hoping that would offset the difficulty that the symbols added.

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing!  The aspect ratio *should* stay the same.  My monitor is 3440x1440 and it keeps the aspect ratio the same as my laptop which is much smaller and not ultrawide.  If you're seeing something different, let me know your settings and I'll try to see if I can reproduce it.  It might be a browser only issue because I did limited testing on the browser(s).

I don't think we have an arrow to click on.  If it was in the basement, the arrow is just part of the background, so it shouldn't cause a crash.  I'll try to install/use Edge and see if I can reproduce the crash.  I played through several times and the game is beatable but I don't know if it's a specific edge case (no pun intended).

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing.  Items of interest in the game show an icon when you mouse over them.  The sound was supposed to be playing on a transition but we weren't able to add that.  What OS are you playing on?  If on the Browser, which browser are you using?  I haven't had a crash.  Oh, the front door doesn't open, if that's the key you were looking for.

Thanks for playing!  I don't know how to take that though because I used to work nights and drove at 3AM every day, so that was "just another Monday" for me.

Thanks for playing!  Appreciate the feedback.  The menu options are 3 different levels we were planning on making.  The School is a separate scenario.  The idea was that the old man that picks up the girl is telling her a horror story.  We wanted to give some replay value so we wanted to do multiple games within the same game.  The Asylum didn't get done, so that one is currently broken but the school and the farm both work.

I held the up arrow pretty much the entire time and went right to straighten myself out but couldn't beat 30 seconds.  I had 32 with a force of like 930 I think.  I didn't hear any music/SFX and I'm not seeing the horror aspect unless you are afraid of heights, but that's oddly specific.

Creepy vibes!  At first I wandered around the house and kept running into the locked rooms and kept my eye on the statue like a hawk.  I'd go to a run and spin around.  Nothing.  Finally when I picked up the first key I was like... that must be the trigger.  YEP.  The statue was gone from his spot and that eerie ambience just kept me on edge.  I found a couple more keys but didn't actually make it out of the house. I was too spooked to keep going hahaha

I'm not sure if the mouse sensitivity in the game or on my computer was too high, but when I would turn left or right sometimes I would spin in a complete circle and got lost.  I only was able to find one pumpkin and got back to the initial starting area a few times.  I think maybe adding some markers on the walls to indicate that you are going to a different area would be good.  When I tried to run from the mob, I turned off the light and spun around.  Then I couldn't tell which way I had come from so I got lost multiple times.

Thanks for playing!  I ran Slackware, Debian and FreeBSD.  I actually didn't have Windows for about a decade.  Once I got back into gaming when Diablo 3 came out, I got Windows again in order to play.  I worked as a Linux Admin for a while and still run a few servers.  I'd compile a Mac build if I could play or test it, but I'm not an Apple guy.  Tux Blood runs deep haha, I always try to incorporate a GNU/Linux Build.

I enjoyed the game, but I think maybe it could have benefited from more sounds or music.  My only real complaint was when a mini-boss appeared the green background changed to a brownish color and that made is very difficult to see the bats for me.  I think it was a harsh contrast and made the game artificially more difficult.  A common problem with these games is that after several levels the game starts to lag like crazy.  I think I had all of my abilities at level 8-9 except health.

I think the problem is on the diagonals.  I noticed if I moved diagonally I seemed to move faster than orthogonally.  After a while though my browser crapped out because there were too many enemies on the screen, so my game basically halted.

Mine worked fine (Using Opera)

I like the artwork and I really liked the idea of the game however, I couldn't see the platforms even when the flashlight was shining on them until I was practically on top of them.  I died a few times and I think it's because I hit a platform, I'm not entirely sure.

I hadn't read the comments before trying to play it.  Thanks for updating us on the situation :)

Thanks for playing.  We wanted to try to get it very PSX looking, and that caused most of our roadblocks/headaches.  It's still not 100% where we wanted it, but we just ran out of time.

Thanks for playing.  We actually ended up leaving out a lot of the sounds we were planning, but yeah the camera in the barn was supposed to be like Resident Evil.  I wanted to fix the controls and make sure the character was visible 100% of the time, but the playstation shader made it difficult to preview.   I do agree that the fixed camera would have been a lot better, especially to make sure that the user sees the things we want them to see.

Thanks for playing!  I wanted it darker as well, but we ran into issues with the lighting where you couldn't see at all in some cases.  We were planning on "fixing it during polish" but those 7 days flew by.  I'd like to fix the barn scene for sure.  I was trying to keep the view obfuscated a bit to pay homage to Resident Evil.

Thanks for playing!
