I really liked it ! Probably because it's a similar concept as mine XD
There's even references to storytelling with "sidekick" and "comic" relief like I've done with "plot armor" and "a wizzard did it" XD

I loved the details of the cards, really well tought, and the graphics.

At first I did not understand you could harm your own side, so I was often like "why do we lose so much health ?". And I see the music is self-made but actually, I haven't heard any sound in the game :o (i played the web version)

But it's definitly in my top 3 best games of the jam

It was a little hard to get a hang of it at first, but it's pretty fun!

I really like that you came up with such a funny story to justify the inverted win condition. Also, the YuGiOh parody cards made me laugh.

The first level took me far longer to clear than the others. A shallower learning curve would be nice. Maybe introduce the cards more gradually?

I'd love to see more of this.

Developer

Yeah definitely tough in the beginning. I like the idea of giving the cards out more gradually too, that probably would have made it more approachable at first.

Glad you liked the YuGiOh parody cards :)

This deserves to be a full game. I would pay for a real life copy of DeckMasters, the TCG to play with my friends. I enjoyed it a ton. I also recommend joining the HTCG community discord server if you do decide to go that route.

Developer

So glad you think so! We’ll definitely check that out!

its very cool but i just can't figure out whats causing players to take damage.

Developer

Players take damage if an empty square on their side of the field is hit by an attack. If a square has a monster, the monster takes the hit. Otherwise, if its a blue square you take the hit to HP and if its red your opponent does. So if you place a piece targeting at your own side, it will damage you, for example.

All damage hits regardless of who dealt it, so both players can "friendly fire" at their own monsters and even their own side of the field, making it possible to throw the game by hitting yourself, if you choose to.

We'll have to make the rules more clear in the future ^^' and add a rules page - oops.

ohhhhhh, the squares on the edge take damage!

Fun game! I really enjoyed the visuals and the strategy element of it. I liked a lot of the smaller details on the cards, like how my cards are like level 77 and the kids are level 12.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest adding a 'restart battle ' option. I put down two of my units, the kid killed them and got to my side. I thought I'd loose but the game just stopped. Some music and sounds would be nice too.

Overall, fun card game. I'd love to see this sort of level as a one off in a full game with this battle system.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Glad you had fun.

We think that problem might be because there's dialogue to click through before the Win/Lose announcement appears, which might not have appeared automatically - oops! - maybe try clicking a few times if it seems nothings coming up? thanks for letting us know it was confusing.

Developer

Oh, figured out what you meant about the bug! We added a restart battle button (usually wouldn't change during the voting period, but it's a game-breaking bug which Jonas said is OK to change IIRC).
