Nice little game. Gets a bit tedious with no progression but I would definetly play it if it got a bit harder after a while adding more employees, having to cater to them individually and perhaps getting more types of things to hand out.  An idea would be to perhaps have the bosses boss hand you a lot of work you need to get done by handing out to your employees so that you need to keep them happy and productive but you also need to make sure your work gets done.. (but that would of course make the game quite much more complicated..) Anyway. Just spinning freely with thoughts :)

The idea is a good one and well executed so far (and as you see got me thinking of how to make it even more interesting).

I had a possible bug:  After I pressed restart no input worked (windows exe version) but that may have just been a fluke.

Thank you for your review!!

What a nice game! Playing as a nice boss is uncommon in this jam!

You've got a start to something. If you take this further, you should improve the grabbing mechanic and make separate goals to reach. You could then have items respawning in different locations around a wider map.

Dat is a nice game :D i figured out, that you can cheat by keep g pressed and just put 4 donuts straight in the employees mouths. But it totaly matches the theme and it keeps you up. a little bit of diversity or 2 splitted bars for the employees would spice things up. But everything workes, looked and played nicely :) well done

My the best boss!

I like the idea that the best boss is one who alternates throwing telephones and donuts at employees. Seems like an interesting workplace.

Does the game ever end? I played for 4 minutes, but there didn't seem to be a goal other than survive as long as possible. If so, maybe the task bar should decrease faster the longer you play.

The grabbing mechanic is a little awkward. It would be nice if the items reacted to being grabbed, so I knew whether or not I was holding them. Just rotating the sprite a little would be enough.

Overall, I like the idea of balancing workload and sanity, and I think it fits the restriction well.

Game looks ok but besides the main character being in a suit and walking around I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing or why?  Could use some correct spelling as well.  Update and I would love to come back and give it a shot!

In the meantime give my game a shot https://itch.io/jam/vimjam2/rate/1200495

I didn't really understand how to play the game. Any chance you could update the itch page with instructions?

Looks like the game might be nice, but I could not figure out the controls.

I also could not figure out how to interact with the world or what I should be doing. I think everything looks pretty nice though.

Hi there!

  • Fun/Design: to be fair, I did not understand what I need to do and what are the controls. I basically walk into the room, get reset to the middle if I hit a wall, and don't see how to grab things or interact. Maybe you should have written a tutorial somewhere ingame or in the description of the page?
  • Music/Sound: The music is fine even if very repetitive. Could have been a bit longer with some variations before looping. I heard no sound effects so far but maybe because I didn't find how to interact?
  • Graphics/Animation: I'm not very fan of games where the pixel aspect ratio isn't the same between sprites. When doing pixel art, it's better to make all the pixels look similar. In a good note, I like the little characters, they look cute and their animation - even if simple - are doing the job.
  • Theme/Limitation: There's indeed a boss so it fits the restriction. For the theme, not sure about how you implemented "on the edge", the only thing I see is that when you go close to a screen edge, you're getting teleported to the center of the scene.

They the employs lose their sanity slowly so they are on the edge of their sanity
