I can't keep up with the text, so I was pretty lost at first, especially having no idea how to play with keyboard, but I figured it out after a few swings. This is a pretty fun idea to thrust into Gensokyo. There's a lot of cool stuff going on with the graphics and audio too.

Thanks, Karob! It turns out that the way I programmed a few things, it runs at an accelerated pace during certain segments depending on things like the Hz rating of your display and such. I appreciate you checking it out! I'm actually really excited to explore some more options for Touhou Sports related games. Can't decide if I want to go for Touhou Bowling or Touhou Soccer first.
i dont know shit about godot so im not even gonna pretend to know why this happens but the game has some massive timing issue and everything thats on a countdown zooms by ridiculously fast for me. the mashing segment im pretty sure does not have time for more than two inputs and the dialogue is almost fast enough to be unreadable
however i read very quickly and mash pretty decently! it also makes the game more hardcore and just the right amount of scuff to make it a solid flash game-like game. in fact: this entire game fels like a flash game (good thing)
i somehow messed up so bad my first time that i got 0 feet and it never hit the ground resulting in a softlock so watch out
overall though: this is a great entry i like purple tenshi i like the opening all the visuals are great and the music is rockin
final average: 355.4 feet
also massive respect to seafoamselene for being in the comments section of almost every jam game ive seen so far, it is good to have an ally in the infinite journey to play, rate, and review every single entry
Thanks, Aeon!
Almost the entire game functions off one very large collection of timers meant to push the game along at a brisk pace. I was going for a sense of brevity with the game because I didn't expect too many folks to have the patience to sit through a lot of dialog or overly complicated animations. I think I was wrong about this though, because I've played (and watched other people play) some rather wordy entries to this jam that take North of 20 minutes to complete. I may have over-done it a bit on the "Let's hurry through the menus and get to button mashing."
The "Flash" game feeling you got from it is pretty much what I had hoped for with this one. I grew up playing some retired web-based games like Candystand Mini-golf and Bowling. You know, things that would require Shockwave player and such.
When the pun of "Touhoumerun" came to me, I pictured a baseball mini-game like those web-based games with lots of replay value. I didn't quite have the time to shove ALL of the replay value I wanted to in it, but I think it turned out to be a fun 5 minute adventure into the mind of a Touhou momentarily knocked senseless because she wouldn't leave Yukari alone!
I've got about 15 titles left to play / rate / comment and then I'll have done them all! The comments are my favorite part. Having conversations about the outcomes of cramming all this work into 4 days is what I like most about the jams. I learn so much from these games.
Cheers!
Pretty polished game, and it was pretty fun. Animation in the intro was well done but maybe a little long. I think the instructions on how to play isn't clear enough, and it took me a few tries at bat to fully understand what I was suppose to do on the different minigames. Still, I had a fun playing it!
Thanks for checking it out! I agree, I would like to create a better in-game explanation of the controls before just tossing you into the first "mash repeatedly" mini-game. I'm also exploring options on how I can better tell the introductory story without it feeling like you have to watch a 90 second film every time the game starts.
I'm excited to have received feedback from you and glad you posted your game to Feedback Friday. If anyone other than Flanne sees this message, check out Flanne's page. They have made some solid games - '10 Minutes to Dawn' is great!
Hi (Tenshi and Sanae sprites maker here) Selene is planning on polishing the game when the GameJam voting time is over, so expect to see the indicators and even more ! If you're curious she made a list about the changes planned at the bottom of the game's page :)
Thank you playing and letting us know !
Things I liked:
I don't often enjoy Japanese cartoon games, however the gameplay was enough to make me leave my pre-judgments at the door.
The 3 primary mechanics of hitting a ball as far as you can are really moreish; after each attempt the player wants to try again to get a better distance.
The sound effects were great too.
The menus/texts/sfx really reminded me of lots of games I played as a kid - even though I'm not too keen on the art style, the game definitely felt nostalgic (I assume that's just the style).
Things I didn't like:
The artwork - though I know the quality is good, and it's really flush with the game; it's simply not to my taste.
When mashing ''B'' it would have been more satisfying if the power bar flashed or lerped somehow to give the player more of an actual ''power'' feeling (if that makes sense).
When pressing the ''X'' button there should be more margin for error, I wish you could accidentally press it early and miss/reduce your power by 50% etc.
Bugs found (I play on Windows 10 and use Google Chrome):
When playing the browser version, after completing a stage and during the scene change; the music lags briefly (I thought my laptop blue-screened lol).
When downloading the ZIP to PC I couldn't see the screen (I sent screenshots on Discord already).
Super duper appreciate the feedback! We're thankful you gave it a shot and glad you could find some fun in the gameplay and nostalgic elements (which was ultimately something we were shooting for... I personally grew up with an SNES controller in my hand). You're the first to mention the LERP possibilities for the power meter and I think I have to agree with you here. It would be pretty rad if the meter seemed to pull against you a bit and give you the true feeling of "building" power. Much appreciated! Cheers!
Thanks, Congusbongus! I agree with your criticisms of the clarity with mini-game objectives. I wanted to include more instructions, but I couldn't find a great way to keep from cluttering the UI as I was running out of time with the submission deadline. I'm glad you enjoyed the opening! Appreciate you stopping by to play it! <3
BASEBALL!
Very unique and fun game that takes a familiar concept and does it justice. Sephi rocks it with the lovely artwork as always, and the music is of course fitting with the game's excitement. I'm not very good at these kinds of reflex-based games so I only got 300 average yeet at the end, haha... Amazing work from the team!
