Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
The game revolves around finding people in the world and giving the gifts and bringing colour to their lives. Each journey results in a tree showing that paths you and those you gave to took, the player can then use the fruit from this tree to give to more people on their next journey and grow larger trees.

Admittedly I thought this would tie more into the story of The Giving Tree, but I still enjoyed it and loved how the concept was incorporated. It's a simple yet touching experience that ties well into the theme. I really like how the branches follow along the player's path, it's a good thematic visualization. Nice work!
A few minutes of blissful storytelling with nothing but lines and a guitar.
I may have broken it by exploring a previous tree and making my character invisible in the next sequence, then I ran out of new dialogue but also learned about the different fruit zones. I am not sure how large the trees can grow, as my last three were of similar size and didn't extend to any new zones. If someone has a big ol' tree I'd like to see it!
Absolutely stellar work! I really loved how you incorporated the concept of the giving tree. The art style is simple but incredibly effective in delivering the message. The themes you explored, especially how even the smallest act of kindness can create a ripple effect, truly resonated with me. I genuinely loved the core idea. I do wish there were more options for interacting with NPCs, but considering the time constraints, you pulled off something really special. Great job!
Beautiful game. I kept running into a bug where I wouldn't be able to click "Done Gifting" no matter what fruit I wanted to give (or heart). Nevertheless, if you intend to fix these bugs I'd love to come back and play more.
Thank you for giving us this gift.
Beautiful. Just beautiful. This is a stellar example of "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication". The story is simple, yet very powerful. The use of the theme to use kindness to bring color back into someones life is very sweet and I think there's not enough of this kind of message in present-day media.
In terms of mechanics/gameplay, I was wondering at first like "Oh why are my footsteps not disappearing?". It wasn't until I finally offered my heart to someone and when the MC and the other person returned to the starting point that it dawned me as I saw the path I traveled on turn into a branch of a tree. I think this is a pretty unique mechanic and I think makes it that much more personal for the player.
Art is simple, but honestly I think that it works. Again it's one of those games where I feel the gameplay and story speaks volumes. I actually think it hit a lot harder seeing the colors of a tree emerge from the darkness.
The Good
The Eh (things i wish were in the game)
The Bad
In conclusion, beautiful submission. Overall beautiful gameplay with a fantastic story. Just flesh out that one bug and I think it should be fine. This definitely deserves more ratings. Great job, can't wait to see what you do next.
Cool game! I like the storytelling elements, and it's very spot on with the theme. Great choice to choose simple art and colors, as it makes the player feel lonely and compels them to want to find and share with others(at least for me). I also like that the path you and the people you share with create the next tree. Your core gameplay loop really hammers down the definition of generosity. The only thing I would say is that I wish the text didn't move so fast; I did miss some of the story.
Wow! Really was not expecting such a beautiful experience from this game! It was truly moving and heart-warming! Such simple visuals and design communicated so much! As others in the comments said this is truly a hidden gem of a game!
So after day one - this is the first hidden gem that I found!
Thank you very much for making this game - it really moved me.
In its own way this is perfect and does not need anything else.
I agree with vofgofm - it is super creative! I missed a bit of the narrative since the text disappears a bit quick here and there, or there are multiple things to pay attention to. And from the lumberjack onwards my keyboard input did not work anymore ^^ don't know if that was an error on my end - the trees turned out interesting nonetheless :)
Thank you so much for playing and the kind words, I am so glad you enjoyed it and it connected with you! I wasn't sure whether the feelings I was trying to create would come across so your words mean a lot! :)
I have definitely missed a couple of bugs, and believe I have found the one you mentioned. It causes the game to stay in cutscene mode after you get exhausted as it ends up constantly looking for people to come "rescue" you, I have a fix in place but as per Jam rules will have to wait until the voting period is over to implement it. Along with a few visual bugs causing the tree to misbehave at points.
I really enjoyed the way the impact of individuals on the world around them was portrayed! Super cute game, I love the path you took turns into the branches. Super creative!
Thank you so much for giving it a go! I definitely wanted to focus more on the feel of this game compared to my others so glad you enjoyed it!
