I need this as an animated show. The storyboards at the beginning were so cool - you probably ran out of time to color and fix lines, but this worked out so well as like a prologue section of the VN! You're clearly very talented with animation. This game felt like Night in the Woods. If you have any intentions to continue developing, please publish this to Steam!

I was pleasantly surprised with this game having a different style than other VN games, for one the visual style is very pretty, that coupled with a lovely soundtrack and witty writing reminds me of games like Oxenfree or Night in the Woods. These are high praise comparisons, because I adore those games! Like others stated, you are only held back by the amount of time you had, with the cinematics and sound effects that could just round out that presentation.
I really really like what's promised though, consider me a fan! I can't to see more from this group :)
(spoilers) "I've got two bad knees and a mean left hook!" The dialogue in this game... I found myself chuckling quite a few times, and the setup and payoff with the truck at the end - something like 'he won't be getting it back, but it's gone to a good cause', and the wide shot. Just... perfect.
The theme of not wanting to leave your home is so nicely wound in the story, with the revelation of the cause of the quakes/deaths at the end tying it back to that. And the emphasis at the end on people, not buildings, and how there were people that the town forgot... I found it to be really nice storytelling.
It was a bit of a slow start; I don't usually play games with that pace but I hope people play to the end because it was so rewarding. The scene with the first dead body is where I quite suddenly felt the danger escalate. I really like the artwork, the backgrounds look so good and really help to tell the story of the lower levels of town vs the top. The character designs are charming and pop out of the background. The cutscenes were also awesome (love the monster's design <3 ).
Great entry, I love the art and music! However I wasn't able to complete it because I got stuck at the part where I was supposed to head west to go to city hall, there was nothing there to interact with for me and I had already visited every other place in town. So I didn't actually get to experience much of the story ... Would definitely try again though if you can fix whatever caused that
I'm speechless! The game is so big and polished, if it was not for the wip cinematics I would have feel like playing a commercial one. I loved everything about it, specially the art and the cozy-mystery ambient. The lore and the city lore and distribution remminded me a lot of Night in the Woods, which is one of my favourite games so of course I was totally in love with it. Your characters are also really charismatic and well written (loved Louise and the cat the most!).
I found a couple things, so I'm letting you know in case it helps. First, the tunnel entry (the one that is unlocked from the other side when going down first time) has a white contorn to it when it's locked. Second one, when going down to investigate for the second time, a dialogue reads "<size:15em>ROOOAR".
In a nutsell, very in love with the game! You did an amazing job :)
Really stunning game! Was excited to see another submission from you this year, and this was such a sweet one! Felt very Night in the Woods, and the art style and everyone's unique walk cycles made the town feel very cozy and lived-in, & the naming schemes got to me for sure. Also loved the reversed guitar moments in the soundtrack - had a nice Outer Wilds hominess to it, which fit really well. The storyboarded segments also felt super promising, and really made the game feel lively - as did the way dialogue choices impacted the background life of Cedar Creek. Great job to you all, and congrats!!!
Thank you so much!! Trashwing Crowchild was one of my favorite games from last year’s jam, so it means a lot to hear that you enjoyed Sunk. Night in the Woods was definitely our primary inspiration behind this game, and I’m happy that it showed!
Thanks again, and I’m looking forward to playing your entry from this year!
Long Time No See was among my very favorite submissions last year, and stuck with me for its charm, lovable characters, and cozy vibe--and while it tells a wildly different story, Sunk manages to hit so many of those delightful notes again, while also further exploring themes of loss and change. 💚 Definitely adding this to my personal list of "comfort spook" games as well!
The dialogue of this game is. SO. GOOD. I looove everybody riffing off eachother, the dynamics are great. They actually tried the balloons!! I don't know much about programming yet, but I'm assuming it's also very impressive how you got movement, slopes, jumping, animations, character following, all working as well!
Cozy soundtrack, cute artstyle, engaging writing, played it through in one sitting! Well done!!
