This game deals pretty directly with anxiety and messy relationships, though does so gently.

Two witches make a potion together, and it’s NOT ROMANTIC I SWEAR.

The writing for this tackled the topics of anxiety, relationships, and communication very well. While I can't relate to everything that was depicted, the ones that I could relate to felt fairly accurate. The art was unique and the camera and character movements felt very smooth and natural. I loved the music used throughout the game.
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you so much - it means a ton!!
There's just so many things I want to say about this- This game literally feels like a warm hug I never thought I needed right now :')
The story resonated so much on a personal scale, and I was telling my team (who were watching me play) how it felt like I was getting free therapy lol. It's not often I see myself relating to every character in a game. My favs were Nutmeg and Hubbard, so baby and so charming.
Echoing what another person said here, I look back to the past and I realise I really need to give myself more credit. Navigating relationships of any kind will never always be easy, but talking and being vulnerable around your support system, people that hold you dear, will eventually make everything alright. Such is life. Grieve, move on and grow from it.
The art, animations and music too, were amazing. I quietly sat around the main menu screen with the music playing to just soak everything in.
Thank you so much for this experience, y'all did a spectacular job!
Wow, thank you so much - it really means a lot coming from your team! I'm so glad that we were able to create a story that was able to touch you that meaningfully. On our end too, we've been saying that making the game was honestly cathartic. Sometimes you need some Hubbard time and a Nutmeg hug 💖
This is absolutely amazing! The music is great (I left the menu open while writing this just to keep listening), the backgrounds are beautiful, the character (and familiar) art is adorable, and the writing is great. While it hurt at times, I really like the endings and the themes. Overall I can't believe this was all just made in a month, you guys should be so proud. Happy Spooktober!
When testing bugs and motion effects, I heard that music loop so often, and never got tired of it - huge shoutout to our composers for that!! Thank you so much, and a Happy Spooktober to you too!!
I love the art, it reminds me of some of the 80s cartoons I used to watch in the 90s. Nutmeg is a vibe, I too wish to be a chubby bat thing glaring at the world.
(And kind of off-topic but ehersh, I saw that you're one of the devs and also that you're on the path to becoming a teacher; I'm on my first year as a certified teacher after being in a work/study program for two years and I will say good luck, utilize any and all resources given to you, make sure you've got your procedures in place, be aware that your craziest kids will never miss a day, and always remember that each day is a new beginning. :-) )
I'll pass it along to him - Thank you so much!! Nutmeg is living the dream life for sure.
Thank you for the shoutout!! I will take all that advice!
It's late at night here, as I finish this game. While I can't relate to the specific context of the story, I can definitely relate to the general complexity of a situation and the anxieties/uncertainties that may come with it.
This struck a powerful chord with me. This all was a great reminder for me on how much I learned about myself and others over the past few years, and how valuable it is to have good friends to talk about these harder topics with. I just absolutely love this, the humanness (whatever that might mean) of the characters is just enveloping me in a warm blanket. It feels so real and cozy, I think I'll sleep just fine tonight.
And then I haven't even said anything about the perfectly fitting visuals, the homely guitar playing, and Ellis' beautiful performance. You guys have created something so lovely within 30 days, I'm very impressed and feeling inspired, so thank you!
I'm so glad it was able to touch you in that way! Humanness was definitely something we tried to emphasize in this one, and knowing that that was able to come through in a comforting way is really great to hear. Thank you so much - it means a ton!!
Decent
Decent writing too 🤝
I loved it! Man, we all need a Familiar like Nutmeg haha
Everything was great! Awesome art, awesome music, awesome story! I loved that mushroom image, so cool! I think Thyme could use a nice weekend getaway to have a little reset and vacation, I know some nice lakeside cabins that were recently renovated... :)
Lol a nice, calm vacation, nothing to worry about at all...
Truly though, thank you so much!!!
What a sweet and deep story to be made in such a short time. I love how expressive the characters are and all the textures of the artwork. Hubbard was my favorite character, him saying "shucks" in the middle of a cornfield just got me lol.
Thank you so much!! Hubbard holds a special place - & very glad shucks landed, that one felt inspired in the moment lol
Such a beautiful story, dealing delicately with a topic that is far from uncommon. I would highly recommend this VN for children as it explores the feelings, choices and consequences in such a gentle, accessible way. It doesn't feel like a lesson, but what it teaches is so valuable. It feels really authentic.
The art is so charming. I love how tactile it feels, from the little icons and settings page to the backgrounds. And the characters are so expressive! Nutmeg looks so squishable, love everything he's doing with his eyebrows.
The music fits so nicely with the scenes, and alongside the credits it brings the story to a nice, slow close. I really liked that as it just gave me time to sit and take in that ending.
An absolute gem of a VN, I hope it gets more attention <3
As someone on the path to be a teacher, the fact that you said you would recommend it for children (and that it doesn't feel like a lesson) really means so so so much to me. I blame the authenticity on the fact that this story happened to me, pretty much exactly as I told it, and for better or worse I do think that made a cool VN. Thank you so much for playing!
It was a pleasure. Good luck with the jam results, and path to teaching!
Another banger from FeatherBoy!
After Trashwing Crowchild I was so excited to try out your next game and oh boy does it not disappoint! On the contrary, I had little tears in my eyes the the ending starting playing. Such a touching, cute game!
As to be expected great music and awesome animations. The art style fit the story perfectly!
Linux builds did not work for me but that is just a Tyrano thing, I could play the Windows build fine using WINE. My only wish is for an option to have text appear instantly because even the fastest option had a little delay.
I wish I had such a patient and wise familiar as Nutmeg. Unfortunately my cat has invested zero points in wisdom. It was also very touching how you portrayed someone with an anxious attachment style. As someone who tends to be on the avoidant side it really helped me better understand the other side.
Thank you for making this game!
Ooph, thanks for the heads up re: linux - glad you were still able to play though!
My own cat tended to just sit on people he felt needed help, so I can relate. Thank you so much for all the kind words!!! It means a ton that we were able to do that for you
So so glad you enjoyed it and it resonated! It was so much fun to write and to make with Featherboy!
Ok now it's your turn to make a VN about someone with an avoidant attachment style so I can understand that better :D
> So so glad you enjoyed it and it resonated! It was so much fun to write and to make with Featherboy!
You two make a great team. Your writing is amazing.
> Ok now it's your turn to make a VN about someone with an avoidant attachment style so I can understand that better :D
Oh, you might enjoy my entry from last year then: https://mondlichtgames.itch.io/homecoming
It is arguably more about CPTSD and people-pleasing but you might get at least something out of it.
I love the idea of doing a game specifically about avoidant attachment style. though. Definitely a good writing challenge as you need some good outside factors for it to not end with an immediate "Oh, I love them and I will do absolutely nothing about it". Or maybe that is just me. :D
Looking forward to reading more from you!
There are few pieces of media put out in the world that contain more heart, emotional intelligence, and artistry than A Witch is Getting Married (or, for that matter, FeatherBoy's entry last Spooktober, Trashwing Crowchild). While the subject matter is incredibly (and relatably!) complex and anxiety-riddled, every single aspect of the game feels reassuring and comforting as a cup of warm tea: the soothing soundtrack, the cozy character designs (I want to give them all hugs), the phenomenal backgrounds that seamlessly blend practical and digital artwork--everything feels tactile and alive and imperfectly perfect. The analogy of the sunshower--and the unknowns it contains--is spot-on thematically: a beautiful and bittersweet image which encapsulates a beautiful and bittersweet world.
All told, a brilliant, enormously enjoyable game; I highly recommend it!
Thank you so much!!! It means a ton, and I'm super flattered that it could touch you in that way. We definitely to get some of that cozy tactile-ness going in this one - the backgrounds were a bit of an experiment as a result, and it's super gratifying to hear that that came through!
Wow, this is so sweet :') So glad you enjoyed our silly little story!!
My absolute favourite thing about your game is the art style you used for the backgrounds. They all are so cosy and magical, they just feel like witches and fall. Really nailed the vibe. I have to say, Nutmeg and Acorn are in a second close place. They are adorable.
For the story itself, it felt like a really good representation of how complex relationships might be, and how you also own honesty and space to grow to yourself, to find your boundaries while respecting others'. I think I checked both endings and, if anything, I would have liked one in which I could explore if my friend was alright! A girl friend dissapearing after finding a new (jealous) boyfriend could mean something really bad, and I was instantly concerned about her (and not just because of how it could affect our relationship). However, it's really well written for the time you had, and I love the deep thoughts and the duality we find in confort, being sad and moving on at the same time. It's a hard thing to show and you managed it really well. Great job!
Thank you - those backgrounds were really fun to make, blending digital and oil pastels! The two Familars are definitely favs on this end too.
It's definitely a tricky subject - that balance is a funky one to explore, but we're so glad to hear that the story resonated!
nice entry and story! I particularly like some of the screen shaking and movement, it really completes the scenes and livens it up a bit. the music is spot-on! there were a few abrupt cuts out, but still easy to get back into the story.
Thanks so much! We'll keep those cuts in mind if we do a patch version in the future
That's really excellent work! I just can't believe it was made within a month. Art is cute, music deliver that melancholic mood and there is even sound design. And even without voice acting I can hear voices of characters in my head, that's how good they are written
I worked several times with team as lead and It was really tough. It's really hard to communicate with teammates and guide them resolving occuring conflicts. All of you did your best for this entry and I respect that
Thanks so much! Our writer really put their heart into this once, so that's super gratifying to hear that it resonated!
I did!!
