Great stuff! I managed to win on my first try, but I think I got lucky - some of the games are definitely a lot harder than others, I think meatball canyon is the toughest by far. The other two I think ended up being fairly easy to just spam jump through though - the early spatula levels you can skip past most of the obstacles by jumping, and since the CPUs don't make any attempts to do that, it seemed pretty quick to get through to me. Smashburger felt similar - I mostly just held forward and mashed jump. I think because they alternate, often you'll jump forward and smack your face into the next one, and then jump through as soon as it's up, so you don't end up in too much danger most of the time - and the CPUs seem to have an especially difficult time with this one too.
This is great fun though, and I love the idea of a kind of fall guys demake -esque game!
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Fall guys is indeed where the idea started. And yes the CPU's surely aren't all that intelligent, they basically just follow a navmesh and jump randomly (which mostly works out). I did adjust the smashburger scene to make the smash devices nav mesh obstacles so the CPU's are a bit smarter with that scene now (though a bit slower as well).
holy shit that was such a fun little game man, managed to become gainfully employed :0 Love the concept, the theming was great, and i really loved the level design, those burger smashers had me freakin haha
thanks so much! Yeah the burger smashers are stressful lol
Glad to see you guys finish this project! The game is quite challenging and definitely encapsulates the 'dystopian fall guys' vibe. it also looks and sounds very good!
thanks Snurly!
This is what it's like to get a job rn
I kept getting Meatball mountain as my last game and since there was only one winner, I kept having to restart... but since i was so close, I got REALLY GOOD at a lot of the games or figured out strategies to help me get to the end faster, like in the stage with the big ass spatula, if you jump as it hits you it'll send you flying in the direction you're facing... RIGHT INTO THE GOAL BABY! Or in Smashburger there's a timing that you can make it across the long vertical bridge without having to stop, a stretch in the first spatula game where you can jump around the spatulas and ignore them... It felt hella fun to speedrun through the game on my subsequent playthroughs. Only game I seriously struggled with is the aforementioned Meatball Mountain. (DIE MEATBALL MOUNTAIN DIE!!!!!!!) My only gripe is that there are a few places where you can fall through the ground, which cost me the run a few times.
Couldn't help but laugh when I overcame the challenges and was rewarded with....... the default unity scene and text. Bravo. Great work y'all
Yeah we never got around to the win screen, ran out of time haha. Thank you so much for playing though!! Meatball mountain was indeed the hardest game - never found out numbers that worked to make the balance feel right. If we do the showcase I'll probably go back in and fiddle with those. Glad you found the spatula skips! Our artist enjoyed those as well.
First try easy (I yelled a lot)
Wow! Nice skills
Extremely fun and i got spat by giant smackulas, 10/10
Thanks! All hail the smackulas
This is great! I like how there are opportunities to use the hazards to advance - seems potentially pretty deep! I also really enjoyed the music/sound - particularly the "d'oh"s as your fellows get hit.
Will pass that along to Nick the sound artist! Thanks for playing!
i got this to run on my phone, but it seems like it didn't format correctly. it ended up in portrait mode with some visuals being stretched or not fully on screen. however, i did get my (unfortunately laggy) controller connected and it was super fun!! the visuals were super nice, and tied into the gameplay very naturally. if y'all end up making a windows build, i'd be all over this:)
Thanks for going through the work! Yes makes sense, we only really tested on a 4:3 resolution, sorry about that. And glad you liked it! We have a windows build up now.
If you get around to making a windows build, I’d looove to give this a shot! Looks like it would be right up my alley.
Whoops, we've got a windows build up now!
