This was sick as hell! (positive connotations) I really loved the style you went with here. Great atmosphere and storytelling. Loved it through and through! To add one thing though, you should add some more to your cover for the game! The game cover attracts  people the most at first and it isn't doing this amazing game justice!! Great game!

Very stylish entry. Really liked the backgrounds and the color pallette choices. It's very well written and the narrative choices did a good job of expressing the bland monotony of the protag's existence, even when there was only one option. I found myself wishing the sphere could have been used a little more when making decisions. I would welcome the option to fast forward through text as I'm a bit of a speedreader, and the lack of audio doesn't fill the time spent waiting for text to finish. You're probably aware but occasionally, it seemed some of your tagging appeared in the text before the closing tag arrived, I spotted a handful of "<br"s  along the way. I really liked the premise overall and you did a good job at engaging the narrative, nice work!

Developer

Ah, thank you! There is an option to fast forward; you just press space while the text is typing! I should have put that in the instructions. I did notice some tags appearing; I'll have to figure out how to stop that. It's my first time using Inky, and I'm not a programmer so was a bit of a tough one to wrastle. I will definitely be finishing off the sound and art once voting is over.

Nice pixel art :)

Thank you! It's just a hobby but it's so much fun, I'm going to add some more backgrounds once the voting period is done! :)

I really liked the developing story and the pixel backgrounds, also screw Gwen. I guess the only thing is I wish there was some sound. Got past the hitchhiker and stopped where it said "You're alright" don't know if it stopped or if I got a quick ending by being overly cautious.

Developer

Got dang, I thought I fixed it. Thank you so much for letting me know. I definitely will be adding sound once the game jam voting period ends. Was Gwen too mean? I had some feedback that some would have liked Gwen to be like 2% less mean.

Submitted(+1)

No problem and I like Gwen the way she is, some characters are just mean and I think that's good, opens it up a lot of options like she could be given redemption or make it so people want her downfall.

Loved it!  But I confess that I just had to tell off poor Gwen.  Terrific storytelling.  This is honestly the most engaging and well constructed writing I've seen in the jam so far (and no small feat to write all that content in a week).  Oh, and the visual style reminded me a little of an old Sierra Online game.  Really terrific work!!

Developer

Thank you! I really appreciate that! Gwen's a monster, so I don't blame you, haha; she wasn't too mean, right? I was a bit worried I pushed her too far.

Oh dear that pesky Hitchhiker strikes again. Gripping well writen text. It was a dreadfully quiet experience and I always feel my eyes drooping and my patience waining if there is no sound. It really missed it. It has lots of merit though.

Developer

I agree it definitely needs sound; I'll be working on adding it after the voting period! I'm not gonna lie though, I've never done sound before so I'm a tiny bit frightened to try haha.

It can be as simple as adding our friend Kevin Macleod the first time you do it. Or working with a composer. Keep it simple, reduce the fear.

I had to stop uppon letting the hitchhiker hop on my car as well :(

I'm usually not so much into text games but this one really got me in. It's a shame it got stuck, maybe I'll give it this another try later, if you have the chance to fix it ^^

I like that you can play with the sphere. I'm a big fan of fidget toys haha! Nice entry, well done!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'll send through a message if I get permission to try to fix it again, so frustrating it's still broken, I swear I fixed it!

Developer

Hey! I think I've gotten this all fixed, thank you for flagging the issue!

Good atmosphere, very interesting story.

I liked the atmosphere a lot and the story was interesting, loved where it was going.  Unfortunately, I think I ran into a bug(?) where the game just stops, leaving only the sphere floating with the current scene title. It was just after I let in the person on the road into my car. Great submission otherwise!

Developer

Oh that's such a shame, I was really hoping I'd managed to get rid of all of them.

Developer

Thanks for flagging this, I think I've fixed it as well as another issue flagged by my friend!

Hey! You should update and set what platform it is (I checked the zip so I know it is Windows) but did not know before and missing platform makes the game not show up if you sort submissions by platform. No access to Windows at the moment, but looks interesting, so will have a go when I have.

Developer

Thank you so much, I've never uploaded an executable before so I had no idea!
