Even without any dialog I really enjoyed the story. The puzzles were varied, and easy to understand without any tutorials and the visuals were just an absolute treat. There was a tiny bit of lag around the brambles that popped out of the ground, but otherwise flawless.

Suggestion: I can’t think of anything other than coming up with a way to adjust that lag.

Thanks so much for giving it a play! We think we've addressed the lag issue and a new version should be available soon. :)

Thanks so much for playing! It was an absolute delight to watch her figure things out, and her reactions were absolutely priceless. :) The team worked really hard to put this together and we're so happy to see people enjoy it. We appreciate the feedback as well!

I'm 3 minutes in and the game keeps crashing for the lack of a better word. Screen just goes white then black. I've restarted this section three times now, hoping for it to not crash, but it keeps doing it.

A big shame, I liked the puzzles that I was able to play.

Developer

That is a shame! You're the third person to have a crash, and we're looking into what might be causing that. It is strange, as there does not yet seem to be a pattern in determining the cause. Thanks for trying it out! Hopefully after the event we can upload a reformed version.

I actually cleared up some memory and was able to finish the game, though the lag in some areas was almost unbearable.

I enjoyed the concept very much, but the lag is a big detriment as it currently stands. Anyway, I'm hoping the reformed version will work better :)

Developer

For sure! We'll definitely address that, and thanks for giving it another go! :)

It is very short (about 12 minutes?)

One of the puzzles lags even on my computer and probably crashes on weaker computers. Definitely want to fix that.

Very cute art. Especially star fox.

Those mushrooms can block me (lot of what look like invisible walls too where it looks like I can pass). The same appearance mushrooms don't block me elsewhere (or is it the invisible walls?). Felt a bit unnatural and immersion breaking.

Seems weird that you can just shoot things, but then some places where it would logically make sense to at least try, you don't.

If you stand still on a hole, it doesn't keep getting bigger. This is probably on purpose to prevent unexpected lockouts, but still strange.

Also, doesn't look like the holes heal on your return trips... And you teleport a few times.

Nice way to tell a story without words. That takes some planning.

I do like that you cut the repetition there and started to add color at that point. It was just enough to get the point across without feeling tedious.

Thanks for the feedback, and for playing!

I really liked it!

From the beginning I really enjoyed the artwork you used and how you carried the story forward. I would have liked to delve into the protagonist more with some extra dialogue but I understand why you chose to tell the story only through visual scenes.

The puzzles are nice, as others have said there is a problem with lag but I've read that it will be solved in a future update so good job!

Thanks for playing and taking the time to leave a comment! :) The silent story telling was a style choice that we felt really helped to carry the concept. Glad you enjoyed it!

This is such a beautiful scene. I love the title art and the music selection, right off the bat I'm impressed. This isn't always a good thing, although most of the time it is. I've played some terrible games with wonderful title art before, but let's see where this one goes. :)

The opening scene starts off with some relaxing music that sets a melancholic atmosphere. You see slides of black and white images that slowly turn into colored imaged as the "show, don't tell" method of narration unfolds.  While some images appear a bit rushed, others are more detailed and overall I think that it's(the intro scene) done quite well.

The purple fox sprite is adorable,  in fact all of the sprite are cute in their own way. The tileset used is beautiful and the songs that have been picked are fantastic.

You get a timed press event at the beginning, but I'm not really sure that makes any difference in the outcome of the following scenes or not, probably not.

One of the stone sprites looks like grey butt cheeks... just sayin'. ^^

The maps and tileset theme are really cool and they give me flashbacks to an old old DOS game I used to enjoy called Albion. (Not the new multiplayer one with the same name, but instead the very very old DOS version RPG)

(Tea said it reminds her of ToeJam and Earl from the Sega era.)

It's really cool how the land responds to the player's movement.  As you get closer to the walls they come out of the ground. It's like an invisible maze puzzle, but the walls appear more and more, the closer you get to them.

About 20 minutes into this puzzle game I flip a switch and the game blank screens. Soft lock. Daaang I wish I could save it somewhere... Luckily there's an autosave and I only lost like 5-10minutes.

I get back in the game and this time the game hard crashes. ;( I usually don't like puzzle games but this one has done them very well, IF you ignore the fact that the game keeps crashing... Which unfortunately most people probably won't.

I've tried over and over and over, I always crash in the top right section of the 5 puzzle map. I can get all 4 others complete, but that one always crashes the game. Sometimes it closes and sometimes it just goes to a black screen.

Sadly I can't finish this one because the game crashes every time, at the same spot.

Really good job with this game TeamVoyager, but look into these crashing issues. I hope you're able to figure out what's causing these crashes and design around them in your next project. Keep up the good work, I believe that there's more good things to come in the future for your team. :)

Thanks, Drifty! We're glad you were enjoying it, and we'll certainly check into what is going on there.  This was the first game jam for two of our members and they had a blast! Appreciate the feedback!

During the maze where the cactus-thingies pop out of the ground, the game lags sometimes. When it happens, the game suddenly starts using like 14 GB of RAM, and my CPU usage also shoots up to 100%. That issue made it unplayable for me, so I stopped. But it seemed like a really incredible game otherwise.

Developer

Hello, and thanks for posting! We did discover a lag issue on that map, but I don't think it's stopped the game for anyone thus far. Super unfortunate! We've identified the issue though and it will be resolved once the jam ends. Thanks so much for playing, and we do hope you'll try it out again later. 😊

Thanks for the feedback! We think we've identified the lag issue as more to do with a plugin than the events, but we're certainly going to rectify that after the jam ends. We'll also look at all the collision again and make sure the tiles are setup consistently. Appreciate the playthrough!

Very nice.

The artwork is spot on and the music fits very well. Story is basic but very well told.

The choice of having no text was worth it as the story pretty much tells itself and is clear enough, it also gave it something 'sweet' for me as  a result. The puzzles were intuitive and easy to figure out,

I wish it wasn't over so quick - which def is a good thing xD

As far as issues : only the lag can get bad at times (especially on that one map).

other then that I am impressed :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the playthrough and the feedback! Yes, we think Hiddenone has tracked down the culprit with the lag and we will look at getting that corrected in a future release. Glad you liked it! :)

What a beautiful puzzle game!

This game conveys a lot of storytelling without any words; through the great artwork in the beginning and ending scenes, emote bubbles, and the movement of the character sprites (like that fox jumping around in circles). The puzzles are fairly intuitive and their mechanics are introduced well.

I do need to ask what is the red rectangle emote bubble in the conversation with the yellow rock? I cannot unsee a red cassette tape haha.

Very well done. Definitely an impressive submission!

Developer(+1)

Really glad you liked it, and thanks for the comment! That emote was the boy's house. :)

Omg! You broke my heart and then you mended it. I LOVED this little puzzle game. Beautiful! Extremely beautiful. The puzzles were great, I loved all of the little animations. The colors are gorgeous, the fox is even cuter! Excuse me while I go cry for a little while longer. Absolutely wonderful little game, thank you for making it and sharing it <3

Developer(+1)

Awww, sorry to make you cry! Glad to hear you enjoyed the game though. Walwal is an exceptional artist, and Ellery's music really added the perfect touch. Once Hiddenone got everything evented, it just came together really well. Thanks for playing! We really appreciate it! :)

Submitted(+1)

Oh don't apologize for making me cry! LOL That's the best part! To be able to do that, to evoke such a strong emotion such as crying, that takes talent. You guys did wonderful! <3

Thank you for this beautiful creation, very poetic and warm atmosphere. Excellent graphic and technical quality, and this narration without text, what a great idea. As for the gameplay, even if I quickly get tired of this kind of game, I had fun to finish it.

The only drawback, if I may say so, is that it consumes a lot of CPU/RAM resources, which often leads to lags and spoils the fun in the long run (especially in some tricky passages).

Nevertheless a very nice achievement, congratulations.

Developer

We'll definitely take a look at that. Thanks for playing!

I genuinely am in love with this game. Everything is conveyed to you visually and it evokes such a powerful feel. I am very glad that you have created this. Thank you very much for creating this magical adventure. The music is excellently placed, the puzzles were well defined and did not go too deep and complex. The pacing is timed relatively well that I can complete it in less time.

The story resonated with me on a very internal level that I have to give the highest possible praise for this game. I am humbled to have the chance to play this and I wish you success in your future endeavors.
