Hi! Thank you so much! I've sent you a request on discord ^.^ I look forward to talking with you!

Hi! I just thought I'd comment here for you regarding my discord. You can find me at # 4464 Siryn

Thank you for commenting on my forum post! I look forward to hearing from you :)

Hi! Sorry it took me a little bit to get to your post. I don't check itch as often as I likely should. I would love to bounce ideas around :D If you're still interested, I have a discord we can use to chat easier with ^.^ I'll send it to you here shortly. If you do send me a friend request on discord, please let me know its you lol ^.^

Thank you for playing the game and your review at the end,  I appreciate it :) I hope to do a lot better next time and learn a lot more as I move forward in making games. Thank you again!

Hi! Thank you so so much! All of those bugs I am aware of and am in the process of working out the kinks ^.^ Unfortunately I can't do any updates until after the Jam of course, so for now they'll have to remain. I just wanted to let you know that I do know about them :D But thank you so much for leaving a kind review and thank you so so much for playing! I haven't gotten the chance to play yours yet, but I am in the process of playing through what I can of the submissions. I remember Sin's stream of yours and really liked what I saw too. The story and layout were all well crafted ^.^

In addition, I do know my balancing needs work xD (>.<) So that's going to be one of the main things I work on while I revamp the game :) And yup, the monsters do respawn. I'm going to be tinkering with their settings too and may even just put them on a solid route instead of chasing after the player. ^.^

Thank you again so much! I'm really happy you enjoyed it (despite the many many flaws! I know I have a lot... Sin broke it so much on their playthrough LOL (I mean... a lot, it was embarrassing >.<) But I look forward to learning from all of that and making it better ^.^

Oh my goodness! Wow, thank you so so much! I am literally floored xD (in a good way!) I did not expect that offer at the end (I *may* have cried....) Anyway! Thank you thank you a million times over. Between your review and Sin's playthrough I have an even better idea on what needs to be improved, what I'm lacking, and all of that. I will definitely be reaching out to you on Discord! Mine is the same as my username here (san the 'Sueng' part). Thank you again! <3

I'm not sure how big this first one will be (Askaria). Right now it's in 2D using RPG maker MZ which I will likely keep it on. I'm currently teaching myself Unity (just started last night xD) So I have a very long way to go. Eventually I do want to make 3D games but that won't be for a while yet I'm afraid :) though it is the end goal.

Thank you again so much! I really appreciate all of this advice :) I will definitely do my best to fix up everything. I look forward to watching more streams, but do be sure to look after yourself first okay? Have a wonderful rest of your day!

LOL Yes. Yes we did. Ty for the stream and playing the game :) I'm looking forward to learning more , cleaning it up, fixing and making it better ^.^

Hello! I will take this opportunity to volunteer for tomorrows stream :) I look forward to seeing how many times you can break my game xD I'll keep a tally too. Thank you very much for doing all these streams! I have enjoyed watching too ^.^

Here's mine: Askaria : The Decay by SirynSueng (itch.io)

From what I saw on Sin's stream I really enjoyed your story, and the set up. I'm looking forward to playing it myself ^.^ You did a great job creating a full game in such a short amount of time! <3

Hello! Forgive me, I'm a little nervous as I've never done anything like this before. -phew-

Okay. I'm Siryn and I'm brand new to this game developer thing. It's a dream to even be doing something like this too. I recently joined a game jam that put the whole 'build a game' deal into perspective for me. I did manage to hand over something to be entered into the contest, which I'm very happy about. (Even if I'm terrified beyond belief...)

Anyway. I'm in need of a lot of help. I'm not a coder by any means, I cannot for the life of me get plug-ins to work at all (I've tried sooo many times... youtube videos, tutorials... I just can't seem to get it to work). I've never built a game, never used RPG maker at all (not a single one of them...) And I'm not an artist by any means what-so-ever.

That all said. I am a writer. I'm not going to say I'm the best or greatest or anything like that, because I'm not. I still have a long way to go to even be decent. But I enjoy what I write and I enjoy telling the stories. The game I put together for the game Jam : reach the stars is one such story that I'm very much in love with and would absolutely be thrilled to continue and finish.

But there are things I want to do that I can't do because.... I just suck at it horribly. And it's a rather large project, so having help would be great. This is a passion of mine and I'd love to see it come to fruition and maybe even one day start an indie gaming group(fingers crossed!).

The game I need help with has a demo up (because of the Jam) You can find it on my page. It's the only one I have at the moment - Askaria: The Decay. It's a fantasy RPG, very story driven/story rich. (I just downloaded some new awesome tile packs, but now I have to go through and redo all my maps -cue crying- don't worry though, the available demo is good go and does not have this issue)

Here's a direct link to it:

A few more details you should know before anything else:

1. I'm LGBTQ (bisexual) and my characters and story lines reflect this entirely. I want to bring more LGBTQ games to people. That is a big goal of mine. So, if you yourself are LGBTQ I welcome you. If you're an ally, I welcome you too.

2. I sincerely apologize, but as of right now I cannot pay anyone for their time and work. That said. When Askaria is completed (and any other projects that may come up) I do plan to sell it. So there is that to keep in mind, as of course all who are part of it will share in what's made.

3. I'm not looking for a huge group. Just a few people who share the same passions that I do. To create some fun games for other people and to tell stories that take us on adventures - whatever that might be.

As a side note, eventually one day I would love to bring these projects and ideas into 3D gaming. I even got Unity the other day and plan to spend some time playing around with it ^.^

I know this was a lot, and thank you so much reading through it. If this has caught your interest, whether you're a coder, an artist, or a writer, or even something else entirely but want to offer your help: please feel free to message me here. If this gains enough interest, I do have a discord also and I can create a group there.

Thank you again and I look forward to meeting you :)

Sincerely,

Siryn

You made a fully functioning game in a handful of weeks. Sure there might be some small issues, but you made a very beautiful looking game with a cute story. And, if I remember correctly, this was your first one. I chalk that up as a win for a first time game. Be proud of it! And I look forward to more from you :) <3

Lol maybe! I'll be giving it another go tomorrow ^.^ I really wanna figure it out before I ask for more tips lol Thanks so much for asking though! I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes! :D

I really like this one! Super cute with all the artwork, the story is heartfelt -I can relate to it. The only minor complaint I have is the amount of encounters. I struggled with that one myself though, trying to get it just right with the automatic encounter that RPG MZ uses. So, instead I ended up making sprite enemies to run into. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it, I love all three characters to pieces! Also, I seriously admire your ability to work in plug ins and get all the menus to look so fancy! I can't figure out plug-ins to save my life at the moment xD Great job! <3

OMG! LOL I literally just went and replayed. Found the key and screamed through the house of mirrors xD I'm lucky my headset survived... I totally died too by the way xD Good stuff! I did enjoy. LOL Once I find my heart again, I'll play to see if I can survive.  <3

I did, but it is very (highly) likely that I missed something xD When I play scary games I get super tense LOL so I tend to miss things cuz I'm ready for something to jump out and try to kill me LOL I will play again and go check out the teacup rides! Thank you!

Oh don't apologize for making me cry! LOL That's the best part! To be able to do that, to evoke such a strong emotion such as crying, that takes talent. You guys did wonderful! <3

That is a really creepy game! LOL But I liked it. I admit to jumping a few times, especially with the music going. I also admit to getting lost xD I wasn't sure what to do after wandering the park and looking at everything. I went back into the house of fun and ran away from the horse a handful of times, but I couldn't figure out where to go or what needed to be done. But I do believe that is just me because it looks like others were able to get further. I will be playing again, I did enjoy it (even though I'm not a horror person lol ^.^) Loved the music, it really added to the atmosphere, the art was good too, very creepy! That horse is utterly terrifying. Great stuff! <3

Omg! You broke my heart and then you mended it. I LOVED this little puzzle game. Beautiful! Extremely beautiful. The puzzles were great, I loved all of the little animations. The colors are gorgeous, the fox is even cuter! Excuse me while I go cry for a little while longer. Absolutely wonderful little game, thank you for making it and sharing it <3

This was really cool! And I admire that you put it all together with not a lot of time left on the Jam! Great job and I really want to see more of it also the second game is super cute, I love everything about it (That door really should swing the other way... poor girl xD) Great work! I'll be keeping an eye out for more stuff from you!

Oh! That is so very kind of you! I'm excited for more of yours!! I'll keep an eye out! :D

I didn't see the jam until there was a little over 2 weeks left. I've never used RPG Maker, ever. None of them so this was my very first jump into any kind of game making. I've always dreamed of making a game or being part of a game project in some way so it was really exciting. But my hurdles were quite a lot. I spent a lot of time watching youtube tutorials trying to learn the system. I still don't have a full grasp of it.

I honestly did not manage to create a finished game, but I am planning to continue with what I've started. I had a lot of fun with it! Even if there were many (many!) frustrations and instances of 'why aren't you working!'. My many near sleepless nights have caught up to me and today I spent the day being a couch vegetable xD

But I'm happy and a little proud of what I've managed to make. Even if I'm utterly terrified LOL but I'm happy to have joined the experience. Win or not, this was great and I'm looking forward to continuing my creation and working to improve :) Good luck to all of you who have submitted! I've played a few so far and I really admire all of your skills in game making ^.^

<3

I really enjoyed this one! Loved all of the artwork. The story is very enthralling. I love that it plays almost like a visual novel too ^.^ Great work! I'll be looking forward to more of this one ^.^

Hi! This was super cute and I enjoyed the play through. Tick and Tock are very interesting and I would love to learn more about them so I will be keeping an eye out for more updates on this game in the future! The colors and the music were beautiful ^.^  Well done and good luck in the Jam!

Just a quick comment here while I'm awake! (And in case no one has seen the new devLog regarding this)

Both versions should (should!) be exactly the same. I had a minor (major...) freak out moment and did a quick last minute fix. Then couldn't remember if I actually DID the minor fix and saved it... then couldn't figure out if it downloaded/zipped correctly... and omg I'm a mess.

Anyway! It shouldn't matter which one is chosen to download and play/judge :) Thank you so much!

Sincerely,

Siryn
