SUPER CUTE. I kinda of wish there was a way to view the achievements, but this game was short, sweet, and even had multiple endings. Really enjoyed this one, and thought it was a nice, fun title to play.
Suggestion: Maybe give the player prompts to save their game when they are about to do an action they can’t reverse.
Thanks for playing and streaming it too - glad you enjoyed it! You can view the achievements in the menu (they're on the left, below the monkey's status), and the achievements are retained after each playthrough. Thanks for the suggestion regarding saving - I'll take that into consideration the next time I update the game. :)
You also did The Lost Art of Innkeeping?! I really enjoyed that one, too! I also streamed it!
Yeah, I made that too, and I watched your stream of it too (not live though)! That's great that you enjoyed it, and I really appreciate your support for RPG Maker games and developers!
Please see Teal's play-through video, as well as her review of the game in the video description:
Thanks for linking to the video, and thanks to Teal for playing! I'm glad she had fun, despite being low on HP at times and having to make tough choices regarding which companion to choose. :) It's always informative to see how different people play the game too.
What a neat little puzzle game. Love the art style and the adorable animals! Ah, the circle of life as I sacrifice my animal companions to achieve my goals ;)
Ha ha, thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it!
Neat little game. I finished my first run in about sixteen minutes though so it is definitely on the short side.
The tortoise protects you from the crab, but not the flowers?
The bunny appears on the flowers when he joins the party (might depend on facing).
Overall, nice game, very bright and happy. Well designed and thoughtful. Solid game. Didn't notice any real bugs aside from the bunny thing.
I might give this game another go if I have time, but this is one of the few games in the jam so far that I've been relatively impressed by.
Thanks for playing and the feedback regarding playtime - it's always useful for me to collect data on that. The tortoise says it only protects against animal attacks; my reasoning is that the tortoise can jump in front of the monkey (or the monkey can hold it up as a shield), but the monkey can't hold it upside down or walk on it in the flower fields. :)
The rabbit appearing on the flowers is not an unintentional bug - I don't do a check for it (mainly because the rabbit will walk on the flowers anyway if the monkey does). But yeah, that was inconsistent with the rabbit getting hurt - I was going to make the rabbit say it will be more careful from now on when stepping on the flowers but decided it was ok as it is. Given your observation, I'll probably include that message after the game jam is over. Thanks again!
That will be 'The Game' while you want the kids to sit quietly and get some free time of your own if you are parent. Approved !
Ha ha, glad it was approved by a parent - that's useful to know since I try to make my games family-friendly!
Awesome game! I really love the gameplay: the companion, the puzzle elements, the experience gain by actions and exploration, the choices that alter affection with other animals... so cool and fun! The artstyle is simple but effective! Also good replay value!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Very sweet and cute little game that is very polished.
I loved the art, music, story...basically everything.
I especially loved that the bgm changes depending on the companion you chose - very nice little touch!
Very much a contender for the top spot in my opinnion!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Took me a while to find a few tracks all by the same composer (Aaron Krogh) that would fit each personality, so it's good to know you liked that!
I watched a streamer playing instead of playing myself, cause I'm on my phone, but it looked super cute and fun, and also good for more than one playthrough.
So I'll probably download and play it later.
Hope you enjoy it!
This was so adorable and fun to play. Really loved the vibe. I got the Storytime achievement and am planning on getting the others one later.
As usual a great game from you!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I have a soft spot for the Story Time achievement. :) Added your game to my collection yesterday and can't wait to try it out too!
Starting off it's got a nice window theme that I find very pleasant and I like the font that was picked. It's easy to read and I appreciate that, having only one good eye to see with. The dialog is brief yet informative and never felt too wordy. The sound effects, music and general sound design all fit nicely to create a pleasant atmosphere. I like how getting items displays SE with a picture sprite fading away along with the show text not being obtrusive. Those little details really add to the overall polish, so well done with that aspect. I love the inventory/companion menu, it looks great. The sprites are very cute and the tileset is beautiful, I love the art style. Choices matter and there's more than one way to get to the end goal. This game has decent replay-ability which is a very good thing to have. I got the 'Oops' achievement and the 'Story Time' achievement. Great game, I can't say my score yet but it's a good one!
Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it! I think it's really cool that you got the "Oops" achievement without even trying (based on your livestream). :)
Already, from the start. Cute and colorful art style with a popping soundtrack. Good first impressions.
A well-animated start with player choices, dialogue is clear and the story is easy to follow along.
Interactions are funny and cute, why would a monkey think a pretty flower would be delicious to eat?! The menu design is beautifully arranged, and the tileset and mapping have the same cute art style that is aesthetically unique and consistent. Exploring this game is very satisfying and I'm given many options which gives a lot more freedom. (rip mouse, I knew that owl was sus.)
Feedback, this is more likely my taste but, I would love an option to do a... horror twist and make everything the opposite of cute at some point in the game. Of course, this would be a choice or consequence that the player makes.
Overall, a chill game that I would love to talk to all the animals and relax to. 5/5. Looking forward to seeing and talking to more unique and personalised animals. I better see a frog when I come back to play the game after I review other games. Hope to see furthermore with this talent!
Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it! Giving things a horror twist would be interesting but I don't know if I would be able to do it well (I tend to do more light-hearted stuff) - it would probably turn out more ridiculous than horror-like! :)
