Description
Heavily inspired by Sayonara Wild Hearts, the game is a rhythm/action/platformer in the style of a pop album.

Our protagonist has lost all meaning of life, stuck in a 9 to 5 job, until one day… they're sucked into what seems to be a fever dream… which made them go into an adventure in their mind exploring what they lost and their dreams and passions when they were a kid. The protagonist then meets a character which guides the protagonist around the dreams and transitions (the FREEFALL tracks) into various parts of the protagonist's life. It's later revealed that the character is the protagonist but when they were still young with burning passion and creativity. In the end, the protagonist rediscovers the life that they lost and the things they used to enjoy and their passions, such as making music (wow very relatable).

Made in Garageband on iOS. Singing by bearwhy bearbye. Lyrics can also be found in the track details in SoundCloud.

==If the World Ends==

If the world ends
In a day, would you go to the moon or stay and watch
The world rot away, the usual nine to five a day
And you wouldn’t know, the world beyond this life of yours
If there’s a thing you’d like to do, it’s now or never

So get up, float in space
The bubbles are your saves
Get it together
It’s now or never

There’s a light of hope across the skies
Where the world stays afloat
Get it together
It’s now or never

If the world ends
In a day, would you go to the moon or stay and watch
The world rot away, the usual nine to five a day
And you wouldn’t know, the world beyond this life of yours
If there’s a thing you’d like to do, it’s now or never

==I Know (I Know)==

I know you’re tired
I know, I know
I know you’re down
The same 24 hours
7 days, repeat

It’s been a while
It’s been quite some time
Since we have met but
It’s not quite the prime
Did something happen?
Did someone hurt you?
It’s like looking in the mirror
Seeing you have died

I know you’re tired
I know, I know
I know you’re down
The same 24 hours
7 days, repeat

Still chasing your dreams?
Do you know when to stop?
Still writing songs to pass the time?
Hoping one day, it all makes sense
Hoping, just hoping, just hoping one day

I know you’re tired
I know, I know
I know you’re down
The same 24 hours
7 days, repeat

==Hold My Hand==

I wanna hold your hand and stay beside you
When you’re down, when you’re lost, when you’re staring at the ceiling of your room

Chasing dreams, chasing clouds
Chasing the things that we want

Let’s say the words right here right now
Once empty promises, no doubt
No more pushing running away
Right here right now forever

Let’s say the words right here right now
Once empty promises no doubt
Every day is a new day
Right here right now forever

Hold my hand, and don’t let go
Hold my hand, forever and ever

Hold my hand, and don’t let go
(Right here, right now, forever)
Hold my hand, forever and ever
(Right here, right now, forever)

What a fun soundtrack! I love the tracks with vocals here, and I think my favourite track of the bunch was Hold my Hand. The dreamy pop aesthetic is quite unique among the submissions that I've listened to, but it still feels in line with the theme. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you! My favorite track is also Hold My Hand haha, it's the most fun I had out of the bunch making it.

As a Wildhearts fan, I can definitely hear the inspiration and it's awesome. I love the idea of the Freefall sections, they make this really easy to imagine as a soundtrack for a game, I feel like those sections would definitely stand out to me while playing it. Really impressive and clean submission, it was a nice listen.

It's amazing how you made this entirely out of the iOS version of garageband!! I used to mess around with the piano and synths but never actually explored it thoroughly, so hearing the high quality music you've made from the app is making me realize that the thing's much more than just a keyboard to pull out when I'm bored. Thanks for this.

Very upbeat with a great variety of ideas and sounds. I cannot even fathom how you’ve managed to write so much quality music in just a week and also learn a new DAW. Though I don’t know the capabilities of the iOS-Version of GarageBand, the sound is phantastic and rich. You’ve managed to get a higher production value out of your cell phone than some are able on their PC with a s**t-load of plugins (me included). Really like the your more dreamy songs with vocal. They’re like a mix of some older stemage songs mixed with some very upbeat indie artists.

PS. I cannot thank you enough for hosting such a wonderful event. It is my first time participating in something like this and I have only stumbled about this while talking to a friend about an other jam on this site. This is pretty much what I was looking for, for so many years. So thank you so much for creating a place for such a wonderful community!

Oh... I don't even know what words I can find to describe your soundtrack...

it's cool! I liked the dynamics, the variety, the interesting ideas and... did you do it in the Garage Band? It's even cooler!

Yep, I did it in GarageBand on ipad. I've been using it for maybe around 4-5 years now so switching to other DAWs have been quite hard to get used to, I'm just so used to the interface and workflow of GarageBand lol, and even now I'm still learning about features that I never knew existed, it actually is a very capable piece of software if you take the time to explore. I'm looking to invest in a macbook in the future so I can upgrade to logic pro, but we'll see!

Good luck!

The best way I can describe this OST is that it sounds like it would fit in perfectly into a Summoning Salt video talking about the speed run history of some Mario Kart Double Dash player named BananaNinja69.

I mean this entirely as a compliment BTW!

No way you made this in garage band IOS. It's is so good and definitely the most creative project I have seen by far. Really great work it sounds amazing!

I'm really impressed that you were able to make this all on iOS Garageband, it sounds amazing too! The production and quality is great, the vocals are clever and add a lot to the story. If I had one complaint, it would be that after a while it starts feeling a bit same-y, similar instruments, similar keys, similar melodies. But that also helps it feel cohesive

This entry was a lot of fun, thanks for sharing!

FREEFALL 0: Love the high energy vibes right from the beginning. Great percussion quality, in particular with the snare lead riser lead in.

If The World Ends: Your pop production is really nice. The synth chords feel very sparkly and the mid-range synth is a nice background. The drum kit is a great foundation. The cadence of the vocals works fantastic for the genre and I always love that you are able to write lyrics to help tell your story.

FREEFALL I: I think having these interludes is very creative and works really well as transitions to different areas of the game/parts of the protagonist’s life. I like the high energy of this one as well but I’m starting to sense a little doubt.

FREEFALL II & III: In the first part, the beat is still there, but there is a bit of a somber tone now. Really love the beat at about 1:10! In the second half, the feeling seems to shift more to vulnerability before building back up to the energy from before.

I Know: The reversed sounds are really cool and make it seem like we are exploring something from a long time ago. I love the lyrics to this one! Especially knowing that it’s the character talking to themself. It really made me reflect on my own life and I felt like it was an overall positive emotional journey knowing that the character is looking after themself.

FREEFALL IV: The marimba gives this transition a youthful feel that makes me think that we are going even further back in time.

Hold My Hand: Particularly in the chorus, I hear Imagine Dragons as a possible influence! The backing synths and percussion support the vocals and the meaning of the vocals really well.

FREEFALL V: It’s starting to sound uplifting again! I like the watery sound effects which also tie in the picture theme!

Pause: This track has a very different sound to it. It seems like this would work well as a menu theme in the middle of the game.

If the World Ends: Cool idea to include an instrumental version of the premier track at the end, just like a pop album. Again, very high production value!

Overall: I love the creative approach to this OST challenge. I am very impressed with your production value. I used Garageband prior to Logic and I didn’t even know that level of production was possible - great work! Overall I always appreciate you sharing your unique and very reflective takes on the themes. And as always, thank you so much for hosting these jams - they are always a light in my life to look forward to! Thank you for sharing!

I can't believe that not only that Lone Rabbit is an amazing host but also a great composer too, all those songs are bangers that put the escapism vibes in the soundtrack.

The story being an escapism is also kind of neat, the story you presented speaks in such a personal level.

The lyrics are such a great addition, I dont see as much soundtracks with vocals on them.

And you made it in garageband in the IOS, thats pretty GOATED 10/5.

This is awesome man. Legit, I just straight up enjoyed listening to this.

I really like it. "Right Here, Right Now, Forever" had a really sick build up and arpeggiation at the beginning. The percussion is on point.

Like I said last time, your entries were very listenable. I think "listenable" needs to be its own rating category, because there are a lot of interesting entries, and what would make or break them for me is how listenable they are. I'd be giving you a 5/5 on that category if it existed.

How come I only checked this now I don't know... But that was exactly what I would expect when saying Sayonara Wild Hearts! I loved FREEFALL II & III change of pace that was super cool! Also can't believe you did all this on a phone lol

The fact that we have vocals is a big plus too and there's quite some variance in the tracks. Phenomenal submission!

Kudos for making songs on GarageBand !!

I like FREEFALL II & III, I Know (I Know). They make me feel melancholic, deep in thought and focused.

I am only a listener, but I kind of found the overall soundtrack volume is way louder than I normally hear in mine and others. The drums (especially when the snare hits), synths, and vocals make for very boomy sometimes harsh on the speaker.

To study in a small room, I have to lower the speaker volume enough to comfortably enjoy and not be distracted (lower than the normal I listen to, 20-30% on headphones, 50% on speaker)

My normal listening reference if you want, Windows PC, 30-50% on the headphone, 75% on the speaker

I may be wrong; this is just how I could immerse myself in the melancholic album.

Im gonna be real i did not know this was at all possible on mobile garage band, guess i was just entirely incompetent on that app. This was really fun though! The songs with lyrics were super cool and something i havent seen a lot of in this, and they felt really well incorporated with the rest of the songs you had here. the uses of panning and other effects to create a pulse in other ways then drums and note based rhythm was really cool as well, i especially felt that in FREEFALL 1. Excellent work, and thank you for hosting this!

The synthetic vibe suits the world in a very catchy way. My favorites tracks are Freefall I & IV.
