Hi! It's encouraged that the submissions are made within the period of the jam as there is also a theme for you to build upon your soundtrack. All submissions of the jam must be original and composed specifically for the jam, hence the rule of being unreleased, and the rule of being unfinished is that it would be unfair to other participants (as this a ranked jam) if you have more time than the others.

Hope this helps! ^^

Hey! Can you message me on Discord? My username is alonerabbit

I can hear the kahoot theme crying for help in the background. Truly inspiring.

Hello! I recommend you to publish the videos/tracks on YouTube or Soundcloud first, then submit the project as you will have to fill out the links to your videos/tracks when submitting. BUT, if you are running out of time, then you should submit your project on time first then publish and fill out the links later after the jam! ^^

Hi! I recommend you to create a new project for the jam to avoid any misunderstandings and confusion between your different projects as the files uploaded on the project will all be shown on the submission page. But ultimately, it's also up to you, if you really do not want the cluster you can also hide a project on your profile by clicking edit theme on your page, for example. Hope this helps!

I have now updated the rules to reflect this ^^

Hi! The rule's intention is to prevent people from using loops and sample packs with the intent of writing music for them, e.g. just dragging and dropping loops and call it a day. In the past, there have been people using loops in their submission as well, but it was minor and the majority of their work was still their own composition and arrangement. So I'd say yes you can use them, as long as the majority of the work is still your own composition and arrangement. For sure, it'd be better if you can record the instruments by yourself, but I understand that there are a lot of people (including myself) who don't have access to and can't play such instruments. Hope this helps! ^^

(This also goes the same with other instruments, not just drums!)

I would consider that as a remix/cover as it doesn't incorporate melodies/extract from the other game, but ultimately it's also your choice.

Hope this helps! ^^

hey! Can you check your discord direct messages?

Hi! That’s actually for our main event, OST Composing Jam. You can check out the previous one here: https://itch.io/jam/ost-composing-jam-5

This jam is kind of like a spinoff for medleys, tributes, and covers, so no you cannot compose original songs for this jam sorry! If you’d like to be notified for future OST Composing Jams you can join our Discord server or subscribe to our Newsletter!

Feel free to ask questions about the jam here!

The bass kind of reminds me of Asa Chang & Junray... just a lot more raw, homemade and low budget. Truly inspiring.

Very catchy tunes and a very fun, happy vibe! I really enjoyed it, great job!

I thought I was listening to an actual Animal Crossing soundtrack! Well done!

I had goosebumps, honestly my eyes were tearing up, the lyrics were so well written and even though the voices were computer generated they were able to give that emotion of "Can I ever feel things, the way that they do?" perfectly. I love this so much, it's brilliant! Great job sir!

Oh, thanks for telling, I fixed it now. Sorry about that hehe

Hi, can you click on "edit this submission" and fill in the details? I forgot to add the fields before the jam starts 😅 Thanks!

Yup!

Hi! That’s all up to you! I personally have a limited knowledge about mastering as well, so I usually mix it so that it sounds good enough. It’s not a requirement, but it is recommended as there’s a rating category (Quality) which rates on the mixing/mastering and choice of sounds of the tracks. Using an online mastering tool is also ok, ultimately it’s all your choice!

Hope this helps ^^

You have to go to the View Project Page, then click Edit Soundtrack at the top left of the screen, does this help?

You can still upload them in the edit project page after the deadline!

it's out now!

This was quite a fun game! We really loved Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes before, so likewise we also enjoyed this! I think for the invisible maze part it was sometimes easy to just brute force it, and other times I felt like it was quite hard to explain what to do/where to move, but maybe that's just because I suck at explaining things/giving directions hehe. I felt like there could be a little bit more time given, or a setting to adjust the time so we have bit more time to try all the levels. Overall, really fun game! Also, would be nice to also have a restart button when the timer runs out so we don't need to reload the page every time ^^ Good job!

Very interesting game! When I first tried the game on my own I had quite some trouble getting all of it. So I decided to just play it with my friend, it took some time and a few turns for us to fully understand what was happening, it might be because we don't play that many table top games, but as some others have said as well, the game is a little bit confusing. There were a lot of numbers to look at, perhaps a bit too much. The controls were also pretty weird. Nevertheless, after a couple of tries we started to understand how the game works and that we need to strategize what to put down first and what to put down last as we need to use everything we have to end our turn. Your devlog was also brilliant in covering your process of going about things, and I really enjoyed watching that! Good job overall, really interesting art and concept, just a bit too complicated to comprehend.

I really, really like this game! It somehow gives me the nostalgic feeling of playing Club Penguin haha. I keep coming back to this game to see if there are more trials for me to complete, and every time I play I often find new areas and new strategies and I gotta be honest, I spent quite a lot of time on this game haha. Something about it feels like I was not alone at all, even though I am and cannot see others. Really love the game, and I really like the concept of letting players set the times and the levels/route themselves, and let others beat their time/route/level! I think I'll be coming back to this game every once in a while now haha. Great job!

"Looks like my PowerPoint presentation."

 - My friend who played this game with me XD

This was an interesting fun little game! Had quite some fun playing this with my friend! Our highscore was 1:58, only 2 seconds from 2 minutes which was our goal TT. Really enjoyed when the lilypad was almost 90 degrees sideways and I would scream and hold on for dear life haha! A couple of things though, maybe it would be good to show the cooldown timer of the stone ability, as I keep wondering when the ability cooldown was over, and this might just be my preference, but I felt like the lilypad was really delayed to the movement of us and the stuff on the lilypad, maybe it could be more reactive or move a bit faster as it feels very slow, but then again that would make the game a lot harder. But overall a nice fun game! Good job!

Firstly, this looks so good and polished! For a jam game, this is in such a fine form! Played it with my friend, and we both love rhythm games anyway, so we quite enjoyed it! Loved the music, loved the art, loved the gameplay! But, as many others have said, it would be good to have a setting for us to change the key binds as my friend said his fingers are getting all cramped by playing with the mouse. We got to level 3, and got to the final seconds of the song and failed while the last orb was on screen T^T. Also, this is just something from me, but I think the first level and second level have quite a jump in difficulty haha. My friend also said it would be good to have a line to show each measure so it would be easier to differentiate between triplets and quarter notes. The beat mapping could be a little bit more concise with pitch/instrument, but this is already VERY impressive for a jam game! So great job everyone who worked on this! We really enjoyed it, my friend also said that he really loved the game, and would buy it if its development continues hehe.

This game looks amazing! I absolutely love the art style! The gameplay is also very interesting, even though I lost all 3 rounds playing with my friend, we had a lot of good laughs in this one. I thought my friend was looking at what I was inputting on my keyboard so I covered my hands up, and still lost. My friend said I was walking backward and forwards a lot so that's why he knew it was a human. It was absolutely fun to find and keep track of both yourself and your enemy! Our last game ended up very long though, because we had no idea where each other was, since we both were getting better at "blending in". We spent a good 10 minutes trying to find each other, so, maybe it would be interesting to prevent this kind of stalemate by adding something like a timer, or more and more NPCs walk off the screen, so it gets easier to locate each other over time. Something like that. At the end of that last game, I got impatient and began spamming the knife killing NPCs one by one and it was a sight to behold as I screamed "WHERE THE F*** ARE YOU??!?!" as my friend laughed and stabbed me and won again.

Fabulous work, great job!

Presentation is based on art, sounds, and music!

Hi, yes you can upload a new build on your itch.io project and you don't have to resubmit it again.

As of now, no. There is a chance though that there will be a small grace peroid for those who are having trouble submitting, but it's best not to take your chances.

Hi, yes you can change your submission until when the jam ends, then the files will be locked during the voting period, but after that you can do anything you want with it! ^^

Hi, yes of course! Here's what someone wrote on earlier which I totally agree with:

Game jams are about shipping a game in a short period of time. Not shipping a perfect game

Sure!
