Description
We Were As 1 would be a side-scrolling, action-adventure and stealth game, where the player is capable of controlling gravity.
I took inspiration from many of the great composers I enjoy listening to, like Motoi Sakuraba, Shōji Meguro etc...
These tracks were composed in FL Studio 20 over the span of one rough week or so. I tried going for a perfect loop, but I don't think I really nailed it.
I wanted to include narration and dialogues alongside the single tracks, but I don't have time to finish writing everything, so I'll pass.
I've provided general context to the story on the project page!!
I hope you enjoy at least one of these tracks!
Thank you so much for listening!!
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
The facility in which the story takes place is divided in four sectors: Summer, Spring, Autumn and Winter. Other than the tracks that would play in those places, the rest aren't built on the concept of seasons or anything like that.

This is really great: you really have perfectly captured the vibe of an epic SNES-era platformer to my ears: I can really feel that there is a game behind all this music. Lots of Earthbound vibes for me in the drums and bass. Awesome stuff!
Wow, I was not expecting a full album, but I'm not complaining! Love the vibe of all of these tracks. Lots of variety with some dark overtones that hold everything together. I can hear how your favorite composers influenced you, however, these tracks are very much unique and your own. My only complaint is that there is no real game to go along with this OST! Fantastic work!
A lot of great ideas there ! Also kudos for creating a whole album with separate & distinct themes and everything. The way you use the lead on Spring Sector brings the Eagle Tower's theme from Link's Awakening to mind.
Daaaamn this is impressive! Catchy melodies and great harmonic writing. Great writing overall really. You seem to have a mastery of chiptune arranging. A standout entry for me.
The track You Can Somehow Control Gravity is my favorite on the album. Very triumphant and reminds me a lot of Toby Fox's writing style. And I think I can feel the extra love that you put into it, not that the rest of the album is lacking :)
I can really feel that a story is being told, especially from track 12 to the end. And that breathing sound effect in The Womb is phenomenal. So eerie.
All this soundtrack is missing is a game!

You're too freaking kind. I still have a lot to learn, but all of these comments make me confident enough to say that I've achieved something important here.
I can really feel that a story is being told
Yeah, I still regret not being able to finish the dialogues I was writing...
Thank you so much for listening!
Whoa, full length OST album. Very cool!
I like 8bit vibes with modern mix aesthetics.
Some tracks reminds me my favourite OST from one old japanese Visual Novel (that's good ~_^).
Groovy job!
Damn ! I can smell the old RPG soundtrack vibes and - I Love It!
The bass groove in Autumn sector slaps !
It really fits the lore and the aesthetic you chose :)
(If you happen to do so : don't beat yourself over with the perfect loop thing, Soundcloud isn't very conducive to that, and perfect loops are actually very hard to make, i still have several headaches figuring that shit out every time xD)
This is really good! I love that shimmery reverb effect you have going on in Dreaming. The atmosphere in The Womb really stands out to me as well, the glitchy bell in Treason is also super cool. Great job!
I really enjoy the mix of chiptune sounds with instruments or more instrument-like synths! Overall a fun and catchy soundtrack.
I'm really digging this soundtrack. It's nailing those catchy retro game vibes.
The main menu track "Dreaming" is a great, moody ambient piece. I could easily see myself waiting to press start so I can listen to that loop a couple of times.
I'm adding my voice to the praise for "You Can Somehow Control Gravity" that track is insanely catchy. That's the kind of track that makes you prolong your time in the level just so you can hear that sweet chorus loop again. You really gotta do a soundtrack version of that so we can listen to it for a nice 3-4 minutes!
Love that little stuttering synth that first appears at 0:09 on "Run, Quick!"
Also I appreciate the shift in tone when Igor and the Others comes on. It still fits perfectly with the score but that sax synth adds a
A whole lot of other great moments on this score. You could easily transfer this body of work to someone's game when the opportunity presents itself!
🤣 I'm flattered you like my submission so much. Very validating!
Yeah, for real though, your score is another standout to me. I feel like I've lost track of how many scores I've listened to, but I'm pretty sure yours is a top 5 in my opinion.
You sent me on a Google search to see what paulstretching is. I didn't know that's what that was called. I've always meant to look into how that effect is implemented!
Love how the music never stops moving. With the instrumentation and influences I can imagine it crushed to heck and playing out some GBA speakers and still working well (à la Mother 3)
Also I'm glad I checked out the project page too! Some great context and art alongside the music, I definitely wish this was a real game. I especially enjoyed the more 'battle' type tracks
So so so happy someone enjoyed the battle tracks! Those were the most difficult to compose and mix!
I should have put at least a little bit of explanation for each track, but the thought that people could imagine the unfolding of the story just by listening to the music and from the titles refrains me from doing so.
Now that you made me think about it... I'm so curious to know how it would sound from the GBA wwww
Reminds me of the good old jrpg music! So many interesting tracks with good quality! Good job!
You Can Somehow Control My Love For Your Music <3
(Also an ant suddenly crawled down from the top of my screen during Finally Unplugged and for that split second I thought you somehow magically made credits actually appear on my screen XD)
(And it was Game Over for that ant.)
