Description
Tried to make a melodic mash-up with piano sound / pipa / guzheng as the main instrument. The game will be a story-driven card battler with various settings and this bgm would be used in a fall season map or some sort of depressing setting. I used Garageband on iPad and mac to make this track.

Theme:

Story of Seasons

How does it fit the theme?
I tried to express the depressing environment of the season fall with a bit of oriental sounding melody

I really enjoyed this track! I thought the percussion was well done throughout, and the whole track is mixed so well!

Awesome melody! It feels optimistic for me too ^^

The pipa is a gorgeous instrument... or maybe I just knew someone gorgeous who played the pipa. Anyways! I think I like the version with the melody better, even though there's a pretty sub-melody that it's slightly obscuring. Besides the melody you created a beautiful harmonic soundscape with a great use of the pentatonic scale. Nice one!

This is a great track, nice job on the mix! Very soft on the high end but still driving and catchy.

Also this made me laugh:

Thank you! I guess naming was a failure 😅

Oh, it's not a failure at at all! I'm just saying if someone were to walk up to me and say "rate depression on a scale from 1-5" I'd say "no thank you" lol

Frankly, don't know why it's called "Depression", I feel this music as joyful, optimistic.

Very good job, one of my favourites from this Jam.

It's really cool
not too much, not to little

just enough to accompany a cozy or epic gameplay, and the instruments you have sound really nice and crisp

Honestly it's crazy impressive that you did this in garageband, the quality is great!

I'm so freaking amazed by the sound quality and mixture of synth and traditional. I know it's called Depression, but it's so cozy nonetheless!!

High production quality, your drums sound crisp and clear, and interesting choice of instruments, it really takes the listener by surprise. As a personal choice I would've mixed the guzheng (if that's the name of the guitar on the melody version) slightly lower. Still, it's catchy and really evokes a pixel art adventure game.

Developer

Thank you for listening and your comment! I'm still an amateur at this and have no clue on how to do the mixing and just did what sounded okay to my ears, so these kind of feedback really helps! So I would presume that the high pitched guitar sounding instrument (pipa) stands out so its volume level should be lowered right?

Submitted(+1)

Right. Not by much though, the melody is well written and catchy. Something around a -5db gain reduction.

Developer

Awesome, thank you Peter!

Super catchy. This is also a great mashup of electronic and traditional sounds. Well done!
