Fun & simple concept executed really well! It was really fun to play. Seems like a real nokia game for sure

I really liked the game. It was fun and simple and I could see myself playing this on an actual nokia. In my opinion it was too easy. I died at 4000m when I stopped paying attention. I think some sfx could also help. At least a little chime every time you reach a km or something like that.

I think this game has a lot of potential if you decide to make a version without the nokia limitations. Also bonus points for using ebiten :)

Simple and fun. Good job😉

Simple, to the point and fun. I think I would’ve liked it a bit more if i could have moved the “player character” left and right.

Super simple but surprisingly fun idea! You implemented the theme very well! Good job! :)

Another simple but fun, arcade-style game. I feel that entries like these are the most authentic, since they feel like a game that would actually come pre-loaded on a Nokia phone. I do wish it had a bit more complexity to it, though, like other obstacles you had to dodge.

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback! What kinds of obstacles could be added that would be coherent with the game and its mechanics so far? Do you have an idea or anything specific in mind?

Submitted(+1)

Maybe ones like missiles fired up from the bottom of the screen? Though, those would only work well if you also gained the ability to move left and right.  Bullets fired by anti-air guns could also work, even with the current movement mechanics.

Very simple, but also very fun. Great game!

It's simple yet very fun!!

A nice little game, I loved that the bullets have variable length trails, it is much easier to keep track of their speed (something I should keep in mind for the next time I'm doing something where this counts). I also loved the menu music, it's really catchy and authentic. I'm sure I'd have loved to play it on my phone back then. Great work!

Love the main menu music! I'd love to hear it during gameplay too!

So simple yet so fun! My best was 3017m

I had a great time playing the game, creative mechanics and a cohesive feel. Great Work!

Easy to understand and easy to play, very arcadey

Also, good job on the custom menu music

The gameplay could probably benefit from having background music as well though

Is there a win state at some point, or is it just a high-score game ?

Developer

There’s no way to win sorry, only beat your high-score, the difficulty stops increasing at 2000m, I’ve updated the game page text to reflect this. Thanks for the feedback btw, do you have an idea what winning would look like in a game like this?

no idea to be honest. I'd guess reaching the ground, then having to do another, bigger fall with more bullets around ?
no as charming or as arcadey as just beating your high score though

This was a really clever idea for a game! Music and presentation was charming, you nailed the art!

Great work!
