1) Graphics were INCREDIBLE.
2) I had no idea what I was doing. I kinda figured it out, but I think the rotation controls were reversed (especially with how you drive a car), so I kept crashing into the moon on accident, constantly.
I didn't get very far, because I kept dying.
I liked this game. It feels nice, it's fun to play ... with (sadly) a notable design flaw. This might not be a problem for everyone, but the reversed controls are so hard to get used to. Normally the directional buttons would be the same something rotates on the top. In this game, on the other hand, they define the rotation on the bottom side.
Overall, this is a pretty fun concept. I liked playing it, but it was infuriating when I died just because the controls felt strange.
I think the game is pretty solid. Have to say though, the inversed controls messed me up soooo many times. The shooting is also a bit finicky but the bigger collider helps with that.
Good job!
I liked the concept, but I found the the control scheme a bit complex until I got used to. I guess that's reminiscent of the original game though. May be using specific keys for each item instead of a menu? Just an idea :P.
Anyway, it keeps you playing for a while :).
I did originally bind things to keys because I wanted to minimize the use of text in the UI but communicating the hot keys to the player became a whole struggle on its own. I added the menu in defeat.
I'm glad you liked it.
Very challenging game, but a nice and accurate presentation.
I had some trouble trying to line my firing correctly with the asteroids. It seems that it's important to let asteroid come near you and then fire.
Getting the aim to work properly was such a pain in the neck. It's based on another game of mine that uses the mouse to aim your rockets. Obviously no mouse control for the 3310
Thank you for the feedback!
Cool game! It's very challenging. I had a hard time juggling the menu with shooting.
I would have legit loved this game on my phone. I think it really captures the spirit of the jam. It would look awesome on a phone screen.
The resource management aspect of the game was tough to reimagine for such a stripped down version of the game.
I am working on a mobile port of Final Orbit (but not the Nokia Jam version). I'm just working out player input- getting touch input to replace mouse and keyboard without being intrusive.
Thanks for the feedback!
