I was like "why he ain't movin'", then a whole new world opened up for me ;-) Really great innovative game, I applaud you for it. I do think one could think about adding an "aiming corridor" that indicates the current target rather than the pull direction. I wish I knew a little better how far I could get with the power of my jump, especially when I have to cover big distances.

Yo ninja are awesome, flicking ninja is even cooler. Honestly, I think the game is great, the level design is awesome the level gets progressively more difficult I don't find it overwhelming at the start and the mechanics is pretty easy to understand the obstacles too. This is one of my favorite games I played in this jam keep it up man I'll give this game like 5 stars overall.

Really fun mechanics, reminded me a bit of jump king but you can float/stick on the walls.

Some feedback:

  • Dragging jumps with the mouse feels fun.
    • But sometimes I don't have enough distance on my screen to get the right amount of power into my jump, so I get frustrated a bit by that.
    • Sometimes I can't get to drag on my player in time and end up going into alert mode. It would be nice if a click or something else instantly triggered a directional move, instead of having to accurately click on the player's hitbox directly.
  • Getting over corners is a bit tricky, but I was able to learn with some practice. Still feels clunky to me imo.
    • I would try to jump to opposite walls, but sometimes the character wouldn't stick to the wall and just fall suddenly.
  • I like how there's multiple choices to navigate a level (or at least thats what I saw). If I had too much trouble on one path, then I could just try going another path.
  • Alert mode seems a bit too difficult for me (im not that good at platformers/talent-based games anyways lol)
    • It would be nice if there was an easier mode where the light level can recover downwards again?
  • In the third level (?), I ended up getting stuck in an infinite jumping/rolling animation in a corner:
    • Stuck

Overall, had a lot of fun playing it. Good audio, easy to grasp gameplay, nice art/game aesthetic!

Thank you for this very complete feedback.

The game clearly need some adjustment. I didn't had time to playtest the game, and realize too late some big issues (like the camera sometimes too high to let the player have a full power range, or the ninja that simply don't stick on the ceiling as it suppose to for some people).

And i'll keep in mind the rest of your feedback for the v2 after the jam :)

For the infinite jumping/rolling animation, I had some issues in the corner, but didn't found a solution during the jam to correct it. I will dig on it !

Controls felt a bit finicky, but everything else was great! Super fun game!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback.

Yeah, it seems you're not the only one having a problem with that. I will probably make some adjustments after the end of the jam :)

That was really fun! Love the sound, the animations, and I gasped when I found out you could land on the walls lol. My only gripe would be that I wish you didn't have to click directly on the ninja hitbox to control him, but otherwise loved everything about it :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks !  :)

I'm taking the note about the hitbox. I will probably do something about it after the Jam to improve this :)

Had a blast playing it.  Wasn't able to get pass level 3 but will definitely come back to try again later. The animation is top notch.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the review :)

Yeah, there is a big difficulty gap in the level 3, I didn't had time to playtest the level 3 and 4. This is something I will keep in mind for my next Jam ^^

Very good game!

bro this game is very well made :D I love how goofy the ninja is slinging around xd

Submitted(+1)

I really enjoy the slingshotting mechanic hahah, pretty addicting to just full throttle it and watch your char stick to a wall. Great game dude!

Developer

Ahah, thanks ! I had big doubts about the mechanic when making it, so I'm really happy to see everyone enjoying it :)

Very fun game, I loved flinging the little ninja around! Having both guards and stationary lights was a great decision, very cool!

Developer

Thanks :)

Nice little game :) I would possibly reduce the alert bar the longer the ninja stays in the shadows, but as long as he's moving?

Developer(+1)

Thanks :)

I didn't want to reduce the alert bar at first, but looking back, I think it was a mistake. I didn't like the idea of just "waiting" and the alert is reducing. But you're right, I think there are solution to make it reduce without just "waiting" and make it fair.

Very fun mechanics and quite a challenge! I also like the style and the music fits very well. Only the alarm sound can get annoying after a while.

Gameplay wise I couldn't find the exit of the second level,  but was instead jumping over the edge of the map.  For ease of playing I also agree with @yonixw that beeing able to move with AD would be helpful, as this reduces the time spend creeping around a long edge.

Nicely done!

Thanks for the feedback !

For the exit of level 2, it's below the ocean. You can find you way through the lowest part of the cave.  I knew I should have done some playtest :') And I think it could bea good idea to have a "dezoom" function with right click, to have a better view of the around the player.

For the gameplay, as I asked to @yonixw, do you think this a problem of level design or a problem of gameplay ? I rushed the level creation so maybe the level design don't completly feat with the gameplay

I actually had a lot of fun playing this!

Thanks ! :)

Nice mechanics but unpredictable... I wish I could move with AD to adjust my position to make repeatable jumps.

Developer(+1)

Yes, there is clearly a problem with that. I liked the idea of having a simple gameplay with just the mouse, but do you think it's a problem of level design (the need of precise jump) or a problem of gameplay ? I rushed a bit the creation of my levels and decided to increase the difficulty, by asking some precise jump from the player at some places. Maybe that was a bad idea :/

good game
