My flaming tower was great hehe. I do feel like I mainly moved around 1 or 2, maybe three pieces because of the turn based movement and the rest was just kinda sitting there. I was also hoping I could somehow predict the movements of the enemies so I could set up my pieces better, now it was a bit of a guess where to move my pieces and if they would be able to hit sometimes. I read that you were gonna keep working on it and I'm excited! Let me know how it works out :D

That was really fun, the power-ups need to be a little bit balanced as I basically put it on the knight every single time, but other than that it was a really fun game, I like chess so the mechanics were enjoyable and the addition of health on the pieces made for a fun twist.

Thank you! :D

Really cool game idea. Sadly, I was born without a brain, so I was barely able to scrape by on the first stage, and was soundly defeated on the second, but it's clearly a smart design for those who are good at chess.

A small nitpick is that the game almost exclusively uses the mouse, but at random times I have to press enter on the keyboard. Let me click to select my stage! :)

Nice work and looking forward to future developments. Also, curious, which game engine is this running on?

Thanks for the feedback! we pretend to continue the development of the game :P it is running in gamemaker studio 2

Nice take on Chess combined with a Dungeon rpg, really enjoyed it!

Great game, it has the strategy of chess interesting with a touch of rpg. The ai is very nice (enemies were avoiding the squares where I could attack them most of the times).
I think it would be better if the pause between turns was shorter, to keep the action going.
Well done :)

Really cool game I love the base idea of chess pieces to fight in a turn based Dungeon Crawler. The only thing I could criticise and which gets sadly really annoying after a while is the 10 second loop soundtrack. Which isn't bad at first but after a while it just gets repetitive. Besides that really good entry and well done especially for 48 hours.

Thanks! it was my first time working with music and yeah at some point it gets  really annoying XD, but thank you for the feedback! it's nice to hear you liked it

Really cool idea! Having a chess dungeon crawler is a neat idea that I don't think I've seen explored yet. It's smart because everyone knows chess so they don't need to learn how each piece moves.

Here are my issues with the game / areas of improvement:

1. With each player only moving one piece per turn, the gameplay feels a bit slow and formulaic, since there isn't much either player can do to strategize.  It would be cool (although less chess-like) if each player could move 2 or maybe 3 pieces per turn, would allow a lot more strategy within the turn like "ok ill move my queen out then move my bishop over to heal it". This is partly involved with issue 2

2. I wish I could see the enemy's pattern of movement, because it is really hard to plan ahead when you don't know where / how far the enemies are going to move.

3. The tutorial is a lot to take in at the start, a whole lot of words on the screen at once. I think instead of having one huge text dump at the start it would be more useful to just have tooltips that show what the empowered moves do when you hover over it. And I don't think it's necessary to explain how each piece moves since most people know, and leads to some visual clutter.

Overall though very well done! I would definitely buy this type of game if it was fully developed into a product!

Thank you! your feedback was very helpful, we plan on continue the game's production, add so much more to it! Some of the topics you said we wish we had put in the game but we couldn't because of the Jam time, but it's nice to know you liked it! :D
