A fun game with very nice visuals and effects. The button prompts at the bottom-right really help. However, this game needs more mechanics and variety to be more engaging - not being able to move and shoot also defeats the purpose of moving in the first place. It would be amazing if it wasn’t made as an endless wave shooter. With the great atmosphere, dreamy effects and music which sets a calm tone for the game, I think adding adventure, puzzle and story elements would greatly enhance the experience. Overall, I still had fun shooting down some enemies based on their color, and see a lot of potential for this if developed further. Great work!
Thanks, I appreciate your feedback!
I love the visuals! The lights, the depth of field, the animation when you walk through a bush/tree. It's very nice. I like the fact that you designed kind of a strange way of input, where you need to match spells against enemy colors. Very nice indeed. I only feel like the player character should have been a bit faster. I spent most of the time running away until I got a little room to fire a shot before I started running again.
All in all, very nice!
I developed the game around the visuals and the strange controls. Stuff like the player speed is a thing where you have to experiment a lot to get the right balance, and I find it hard to experiment with stuff like this when I have other things to improve while having a time limit. But feedback like this is always useful for the next project/jam.
this game nails the atmosphere part and music / sound design , but i think the game part has some issues.
what is the point of not being able to move while shooting ? It takes a lot of depth away from the game , the reason for stopping to shoot ( like in resident evil 4 ) is to get yourself in a better position to get an advantage against the enemies - controlling the crowd , the problim in your game is that there are no physical objects that could be used as cover and the fact that the enemies move faster or at least at the same speed as you makes the moving around pointless . That's why the game becomes more like a rythm game where you have to mach the colors instead of a twinstick shooter
I can totally understand the point you make. The game itself is polished but the gameplay lacks the punchline. I am well aware of that. I thought about it beeing a twinstick shooter but I liked the idea of using the face buttons for different spells and that opposed the idea of a twinstick shooter (you can't operate two sticks and the face buttons). I hope that in the next gamejam I take part the gameplay of my game is better.
you cant have a masterpiece every time , but hey at least you learned out of the experience .
and good luck for your next project what ever it should be :)
Thanks! This is exactly what game jams are for. Not to show off your skills but to improve them and learn from your mistakes.
Seems like a pretty good game, however I struggled for 2 personal reasons - I'm a lefty, so the WASD/Arrow key combo controls were quite hard, and I don't own a controller, so I couldn't use those controls either. I think this has a lot of potential, and it feels very polished, so I have rated it as I think the game should be if I could play it properly.
Hey tried to play but it was just stuck on the Godot launching splash screen :( but the music was nice ! Would really like to play as it looks interesting! :)
What OS are you on?
windows 10
Are you sure you use the right version (32 bit / 64 bit)? Because I can't think of something different...
I tried to play, but after clicking or pressing enter on the "Enter Forest" button it seems to just reload the menu scene.
This is weird, but I think I know where the problem is. Would it be ok to fix it (literally checking 1 script), or do I have to deal with it that you can't play the game?
EDIT: I just checked it, in the engine it does work fine wtf...
EDIT 2: It seems like the release export in godot is somehow broken. Debug exports work flawlessly, but as soon as I hit "export all, release" the scene can't be loaded
EDIT 3: I just fixed the export, I hope this is fine...
I can't play the game. I select "Enter the forest", the screen fades out and fade in the same.
