It's a good design, though intensely frustrating in places. Some areas felt like you needed such a perfect jump to continue that even the few seconds of getting back to where you died began to be intensely irritating.  Overall, very good, but wow was that difficult.

Developer

Thank you very much! Ironically I did have a mix of fun and frustrating when I was self-testing out the levels myself. A lot of this feedback is making me realize that maybe pixel-perfect jumps aren't as fun as I first realized.

This is such a nice puzzle platformer, the most of the levels are really fast to solve and most of the time you end up solving puzzles improvisating which is really good!

also that dying animation feels great, well, the presentation intself is so good, great game!

Developer

Thank you! It used to be that when you die, you just insta-restart the level, so after a suggestion I added a death animation so that it would be clear when and where the player dies as well as seeing something nice to see. That being said, I had a lot of fun making the death animation even though it was long.

It required me 116 deaths but I completed the game. The concept it's really simple, but it works very well. The music is also pretty nice. The only complain is that the jump feels a bit too float, but making it heavier might also make the game arder so I don't know if you should really change it. Also in some levels you can slip through the water wheels and skip part of the level, I don't know if that was done on purpose or not, but given that it's part puzzle game you could keep it as alternative solutions

Developer

When I was testing the game, I saw the slip exploits and thought that if the player could discover it, then I wouldn't mind if they used it ya know? 116 deaths btw is very impressive, I think my first tester took about 50 more deaths till he finished. With the jump, I realized after playing your game that mine felt really floaty, and it makes me want to experiment with a gravity level that feels just right.

Looks cool, I would like to play it. Any chance for a web or Linux build? :)

Developer (1 edit)

I can certainly try
Edit: Spent an hour only to realize I have to buy a seperate web license to export into a browser build :(

Oh no… thanks for trying though!

It´s funny how we both made fire related games but still have very different games! I liked the game :D only one of the early levels was hell to pass T - T but from there if was good. You actually made me wished I used Unity instead of ct.js XD :´v.

Developer

I was thinking the same thing when I played your game. I was like "Oh shit, someone else made a fire related game".

The arts good, the music is relaxing, the level design is good and overall it’s a great game. But sometimes I would have to narrowly dodge the water wheels and only just hit them, maybe if there was a bit more room to move between them would solve this problem.

Thank you, I'll be sure to balance this stuff out even thought the jam is already over.

(Just made the Spinning blades 10% smaller, so I hope that makes things less stressful to deal with)
