Thanks. I did kinda get rolled haha

Not a bad game. The effects and graphics are really nice but is it just me or is everything a bit confusing. I got lost pretty frequently and didn't know where to go. And while I am looking around trying to find my way I get attacked from enemies that I can't see. I think the game uses a bit too much brown. Otherwise it is a pretty neat game.

The shaders and effects were really nice! The sound design was great as well! I don't think its necessarily the lighting that is bad, I just think you need a skybox, and to not color your walls the same as the bg :P ... The camera was also mentioned as an issue, which I agree, but a bit more practice with cinemachine, and I think you will get it :)

Developer

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! I did get some other comments on the camera, but it was about lag that I unfortunately couldn't replicate on my system (albeit that I was forced to disable a lot of optimization for non-windows builds..so maybe that's the issue).

I think it can turn to be nice game. Work on camera and a little bit on gameplay and it could be a lot of fun. I think there is a potential there. (mac build works ;) )

Developer

Thanks, and I'm glad mac works! Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about the camera? It's the first time I used cinemachine for a third person camera so I'm def looking to improve for later games.

Submitted

If about camera we are talking about so  think that mentioned before lag. It wasn't smooth.

Developer

Ah, that sounds like just a performance problem. Unlucky

I liked it! The shooting feels a bit hard to control, I found myself sticking with the first power.

Loved the boss music.

Developer (1 edit)

Glad you liked the music! Was it the camera angles or something else?

Submitted

idk, maybe it is my mouse haha

Nice artstyle, though the choice of colours makes it a bit difficult to see where to go. Aside from that, it plays very well and, for some reason, reminds me of early Playstation 1 3D platformers.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, and I agree. The problem becomes even worse when web nukes all the backlights :(

Looks like a playstation 1 game. I found the camera movement made me dizzy and it took me a while to figure out where to go. Also this is the first game jam game I've ever played that'd cause Lag! Well done :) The sound works well with the mood of the game too. I didn't play for long as the lag and jolty camera movements made my eyes hurt. Nice game though.

Developer(+1)

Out of curiosity, did you play the web version? I don't really expect that to work great unless you have an extremely souped up system.

Submitted

yeah the web version. Is there a Mac download version I can try?

Developer(+1)

Unlucky, sorry about that. It was mostly for show. I unfortunately don't own a mac and can't build for it.

Developer

There is now!

This is such a great game, good job! I loved the art style and feel of the game, but like others have said the lighting sometimes makes it hard to see where to go. Also, if you accidentally miss an upgrade at the end of a boss there's no way to go back and get it. Other than that though I love it!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed! And yeah the upgrade bit is a little unfortunate, just ran out of time to add a safeguard.

I really liked the idea and obtaining the power after each boss made so you are not overwhelmed by mechanics at the start of the game.
One big problem is the lighting. I could see it was an art decision, but it was difficult seeing what was near and what was far, due to the colors being the same when looking at two objects at different distances.

Developer

Yeah, sorry about that. Better normal maps probably would've helped but I forgot to UV until it was too late.

Reed your game was great. I liked the idea with the efffigies and the spells felt so good, especially with the visuals and what made this come to live was the music. especially against the bosses.

One thing I would mention is the lightning in the level design. At times it was hard to see where to jump or where to go, because i couldn't quite see the exits.

Developer

I'm glad you liked the music! I did run out of time for the levels and ended up doing them all in a couple hours, and it definitely suffered for that.

Good game ! You deserve at least 10th place.

Developer

Oddly specific, thanks!
