Overfilling on blood does massive damage, also enemies bleed different stuff that can hurt you - wanted to do more with it, but didn't have the time.

Art was pretty cool and the pixels seemed like the same size so thats good (my definition for good pixel art is basically that it has the pixels are the same size :D), but it had some normal text that looked very out of place, it needs sound effects and it was just running to enemy taking damage your self and damaging the enemy and you could do that few times and then you were dead, was there something I was missing, because damaging the enemy and getting damaged yourself really doesn't make any sense.
Thank you for checking out the game. There are basically two fighting mechanics in the game:
1. melee by just walking into enemies.
2. Drinking blood with CTRL (or other materials) and spitting them back at enemies for massive damage with LMB.
The spitting does more damage the fuller your stomach is and oneshots everything at >50% stomach fullness, BUT if you overfill your stomach you vomit automatically and take a big chunk of damage yourself. (this also does a explosion in a big range around you killing most things.
I worked hard on everything having the same sized pixels (or no "mixels"), but didn't have time to incorporate a custom font sadly. The borders around UI elements are also just one "real" pixel wide, while everything else is upscaled 600% pixelart.
Thanks again for playing my game and glad you liked some parts of it :)
Very cool game, I liked the artsyle and the mechanics were cool! If im being honest I wasn't 100 percent sure what was going on at first which is probably the only downside I noticed. But awesome work!
Thank you very much for checking out the game I made.
Telegraphing what is happening is definitively a shortcoming of this game as well as a tutorial/help-page.
Making this from scratch is seriously impressive! I love how the character drinks from pools on the ground and that getting a little too greedy or being too cautious with storing blood can be lethal.
Seeing that you had world generation and a nice mini-map to pair it with was also pretty hype! Good job on the game!
Pretty interesting game, with a lot of intriguing mechanics! Maybe a bit more visual indicators of what's in the floor would be nice, along with a tutorial and sound effects. But this could be a really nice complicated strategy roguelike with some polish!
It took me some time to understand, but once i did i found that this game's mechanic is very cool!
I think it has a lot of potential with drinking blood and spitting it out into the enemies. I would've loved to see it in future's project more expanded and developed!
Also the world gen is cool (though sometimes it traps me within walls)
Hey, could you also upload a .ZIP version too? I'd love to check your game, but I dont have WinRAR...
I just uploaded it :) hope it works for you
It did :) It reminded me of the old roguelike games and I like it. I would add an upgrade system, so there is a goal after each round, but in 3 days this is really cool
Took me a while to understand what was going on. This is a cool little game (and one that is made from scratch in 3 days, especially). I just wish there was a goal to finish the game (or maybe I just didn't saw it). I also like the L4D references with the boomer and spitter enemies.
I'm on linux, so I ran it using WINE. I'm not sure if it ran perfectly, and I'm curious if there's supposed to be music and sounds in the game.
Thank you for checking out my game :)
I could still make a build for Linux, but I don't think you missed anything. I had music in the game at one point, but there was a bug where very rarely two songs were playing at the same time, so I ripped out the music system entirely and didn't have time to reimplement it in the end.
Making a tutorial and telegraphing what is happening should've been more of a priority, you are right.
(Boomer and Spitter were actually a reference to C:DDA - but maybe they got it from L4D)
Edit: Made the Linux Version, but I have no way of testing it sadly
Thanks for telling me about C:DDA. It looks like a game I can get hooked on.
I just tried out the linux version. I'm getting this error. Does it only work for jdk 11?
I think it needs jdk 11, yea - But I've never tested it on linux, so I have no way of knowing, sorry.
Confirmed. It ran using jdk 11. I didn't notice anything strange on it. I think it ran just as fine as the Windows version I tested out.
Can't test since I'm on MacOS... so just wanted to share my encouragement and congratulations!
If you still want to play my game, you would have to download and install processing (from https://processing.org/download), then download my source files from the game page and open the project yourself. Hit the play button and it *should* work, although I have never used a Mac and therefore can't speak for processing running on your system.
I understand if it's a little too convoluted for testing a gameJam game, but thank you anyways for your comment and your congratulations.
Pretty interesting and original system! Would be nice with some more polish. It was kind of hard to understand what was happening.
Thank you for checking out my game :)
The vagueness of the pixel characters adds to a creepy ambience along with good and juiced roguelike engine. I love that this is completely engineless as well.
Thank you for checking out my game :)
not 100% sure what i was doing but got most of it from trial and error to bad you were unable to get a tutorial made but having a working game is more important in a game jam. The enemies do love to get stuck to me till they exploded if that is what is happening with them.
Really interesting concept. Takes a while to find out how exactly to drink the blood. Running over the monster and slurping the blood from the ground was not my first guess.
If you have time I'd appreciate some feedback on my submission :D
Thank you for checking out my game :)
I really wanted to add a help page, but ran out of time sadly.
I'll be sure to check out your game
Cool game and surprisingly complex for a 3 day game jam, I wonder what could you make with more time to polish the game. Keep it up man! Also, if you have time i'd love to heare some feedback on my game too
Thank you for giving it a try!
Sadly I didn't have time for polish at all as I got stuck in bughunting-hell. I'll check out your game right now :)
Crazy good system, I see where u were going, when I understood the CTRL/LMB controls the game turned out so good!
Check out my game if you want :)
