Wow!! Awesome story. very creative

Great game! The writing is superb I like that you still added summarizations on dialogues that you were not able to write on due to the time constraint. Really awesome job, man!

Good work on this! I read that this is your first foray into a more narrative-based game and you do amazing work!
The dialogue option that will appear only after you interact with other characters works well!
The story also fits our preference, the moral conflict really shows here and the art style only compliment it more

Well done!

Since the dialogue bug seems to happen more often than I thought, I've uploaded a patched version for the web build, along with some minor spelling corrections. The original version with the bug that was submitted before the deadline is available as a downloadable exe. No other major changes were done with this patch

Writing is very good. It's really impressive you write , drawn and represent all this in 72 hour, just by yourself. Making a story based game on a limited time is very risky, you gained my respect.

Thanks!

I love your use of the limitation

Ohhh, I loved the story you presented so much~~ A story about questioning established traditions and taking action, even though it may shake the world of those around you... A wonderful presentation of true-to-life issues!

I really like how you gave every character their own personality and manner in speech and voice! Also, I like how the characters have no faces. I feel that this way, how they look can be more so based on our interpretation of their voice and our own experience! I also really like the little swaying animation that the characters do, it's really cute~

Overall, you did a fantastic job on this wonderful game! One can tell you worked really hard on it, thinking it through and wading through the 72-hour limit, especially since it was a solo project! This work is something to be proud of! Heck, I'm proud of it, and I am merely the player, hahaha~

Thank you for the kind comment, this means a lot to me! I definitely sacrificed some real life health to get this over the finish line but it was worth it. The reason for the missing faces is simpler and more practical, I just didn't have the time to draw them 😆 But I like your interpretation!

Very minimalistic and beautifully drawn for my taste.

Really good story. I also really like the act style it is very unique. I do think the dialogue was hard to navigate though. Found myself not knowing how to end conversations and having to listen to them multiple times.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Interesting, I never thought about this. The end conversation is always the last one in the list but I should probably make that clearer. It's also probably related to the bug someone else mentioned where you can press arrow keys outside of conversation

Damn! Amazing story telling, made a statement how people treat each other by dismissing worries and concerns and the treatment of nature for own own benefit. Awesome Work well done! also love the art style works really well with a story driven game.

Thanks, glad you liked it!

Nice change of pace with a narrative-based game.

Just some implementation critiques. The dialog can be a bit finicky if I try to move while in a dialog. I had a few dialogs repeat that way. Also, it would make sense to remove some dialog options (for instance when you search and take out the garlic). Also one of the characters was supposed to leave after you place the garlic, but his character is still there. I’m sure limitations due to the jam, but figured I’d bring it up.

The animation and artwork were unique and worked well in context. I enjoyed the story so far and the lore.

I hope you continue forward with the story. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked it. Yes, I should definitely polish the dialogue options more, and make characters and items actually move around, just didn't have enough time during the jam. The dialog options are already changing a bit as you progress, and I'm pretty happy that it's a one line change to do it.

What do you mean move around in the dialog? I think that some dialogues are too long and they should be split up into sub trees so the player has more interaction and less chances of going through a wall of text by mistake. Is that what you mean?

I thought when I was in the dialog holding down an arrow key, it’d sometimes restart the dialogue, but it’s likely I double tapped spacebar at some point. I went back to test it and didn’t replicate the issue, so please ignore my previous point on repeating dialog.

You might have a point here, as I sometimes noticed some weird behavior as well. I will have to double check the code for how I handle this
