Good game, the sound design was good, the art was REALLY good, cool game.
I liked visual style and sounds.
The gameplay is good, but some things could be tweaked a little:
- XP coins disapper very quickly. This forces the playstile in which you have to get the most dps possible. And that makes stun upgrade pretty much useless
- Possible upgrades don't rotate enough during one playthrough.
Good spin on Vampire Survivors. Great job.
great game and i always like to play game will leveling system
i feel after picking the upgrade the game time should slowly back to normal speed with some delay
Fun as hell!
The audio could use some songs as well as more effects, although the shotgun firing, especially with the explosion upgrade, sounds very cool! Some variation in the shot sounds would be helpful in long runs. Hitting a ghost made a sharp sound that didn't seem to fit too.
Visually I guess I'd only argue that shotgun bullets were a bit strange, but that's mostly nitpicking. The ghosts were nice and the girl was super cute, especially in the title/thumbnail art!
The game felt kinda tough to me if you don't get the upgrades as quick as possible. The ghost drops could last a bit longer, it makes runs too hard if you fail to grab 'em as early as you can. Some upgrades are very overpowered, I enjoyed having faster fire rate and exploding bullets! I also got auto firing, which was more of a quality of life and made me feel like playing Vampire Survivors (love that game!). Once I hit max level there seemed to be no point in continuing, since there was no score or time counter.
If I understood correctly, the upgrades are supposed to be defined randomly at the start of the run, but then you are stuck with those 3 ones until the end?
Regarding some of the upgrades:
- the knockback upgrade wasn't very clear, the ghosts didn't seem to be pushed back upon hit, it seemed like the girl was pushed back. Was it supposed to be more of a movement boost?
- does the +1 health one just adds a heart? It seems like one of the weakest upgrades.
One thing I'd like would be to be able to shoot automatically by holding the left mouse button, but that's just me.
All in all, this was a cool top-down shooter! I could see it growing and having more content, the basics are pretty much all there! Well done!
thank you very much
I agree about the variation, I had intended for the ghosts to sound cute but I also think it sounds a bit off
the idea behind the bullets being stars was to make them seem magical since they were able to hit ghosts, thank you I put way more time into the thumbnail than I should have
I agree it was harder than I had wanted I made the difficulty curve last after I made all the upgrades and ended up not getting to test it much, the reason the drops disappear is to reduce lag unfortunately I also feel like it's too fast, I ended up not having time to add anything after you maxed out but definitely wanted to, I do feel a score or timer would have worked but didn't think about that
close once you pick an upgrade you'll keep it for the rest of the run
the knockback is a little buggy unfortunately and doesn't always work, also needs to be maxed before its noticeable
+1 health is the only upgrade you can get infinitely but ended up being bad since you don't get enough XP to use it
I had added the ability to hold the fire button but removed it because it made auto-fire useless
I'd definitely like to expand on this later on and once again thank you very much it really means a lot to me
I like the effects and feedback. A little bit of randomness to the shotgun sound would help a lot, change the pitch each time would make it less repetitive. Nice game.
Nice little game, quickly get into action and good mechanics. The player can become quickly overpowered as no new ennemies appear. On the other hand I think the sfx can be softer as it can be pretty agressive.
Man, I had the same idea! Yours is a better and evolved version! Had fun playing it and it deserves a high place. 11/10.
I might be biased but man, I send you all my love
This game is so fun and addicting! I lost track of time playing it for a bit before I realized I should probably try out some other games too. I like how the upgrades feel like I'm getting exponentially more powerful.
I had to refrain myself from playing so I could write this review, this game is so addicting. The upgrades felt like I was getting the same ones over and over though, idk if you're just randomizing them at the start or if rand_range is tweaking but other than that, great game!
Simple but addictive and with a lot of replayability, I was able to reach level 15 :D
But the abilities of each game were repeated a lot and reached its limit quickly
