I like reading, especially scifi but it felt like it was a bit too comprehensive for a jam. Being a wiki though I get it and it makes sense. I would have liked more pictures and audio, having some images blocked due to content restrictions was a nice touch. The written content was engaging, interesting and written well. Very original type of concept, well done! I also liked the style of text, and the background, the way the hyperlinks worked, good effort for yourself and the team!

The little music ques, the art and the writing are phenomenal, specially the story, I had a really strong feeling coming from it that reminded me of Legend of Galactic Heroes or Gundam, and that made me smile from side to side because I am a sucker for that historical type documentary stuff and that is exactly the feeling I got from the story, the poor people being taken advantage of and the governments pushing on the warmachine and the destruction is potrayed so well, great job!

Very interesting idea with weaving in a story into wiki-reading. Also a very effective use of audio that had me jumping when I came across some of the pages.

While this is not the typical type of game I tend to play,  I must admit that I've never felt such a sense of suspense/danger while navigating a wiki before.

Highly original. Well done!

I'm sorry I can't play/vote for your game as you updated it 2 days ago after voting has started. There are a few people who have done this and it's not fair to all of the people who still have broken games because they followed the rules.

Developer

the only "update" was uploading the untouched .zip file so people could easily download the game if they prefer. There's no explicit rule against that, as it's still entirely within the realms of the project being worked on within the jam. A few people have done this because it's not against the rules to make slight alterations, or in my case, literally just posting an alternate play method.

Ok well if you could please open up the original file (you can do this by unhiding it in itch history) I will happily play and vote on your game. I don't think it's ok that people should just have to trust the content has remained the same because someone says so. I trust what I see not what people say, and if I file says it was updated two days ago, how am I to know it's just a zip? Yes multiple people have done this and I have not played their game or votes and I have left feedback. I don't mind if it was updated 5-6 days ago as there were extensions. But I draw the line at 2 days ago as that is just way too much time for people to do extra work and it's very unfair for everyone else.

Ah I think I see what you are saying, you didn't have a download file before. Hmmm ok I'll play your game via the openGL game I guess.

Interesting concept for a game. Have not yet seen a wiki game if that's the propper way to call it.

Developer(+1)

Admittedly I guess you could call it like, a narrative exploration game, or even just a straight up visual novel. Like, as much as wikidiving is a touchstone if the games design, there's just as much DNA from stuff like Her Story in the mix.

...all of this is to say, I don't think wiki game is a real like, genre or anything, but it's a decent descriptor of what the game is, lol

Need to play it again in my own time so I can properly read everything, but I really like the presentation and the writing!

Really cool text based adventure, and quite an impressive amount of content considering the many branches and links you can explore while reading the articles, it felt a bit overwhelming even at times for my tiny brain O_o

The overall retro terminal easthetic is really cool and i liked the very Samurai Jack-esque illustrations whenever they popped up especially when showcasing the mechs in action :D

The tone of the story and the detail in the world building in incredible, i like how you could get a prespective of the war from both faction’s point of view and the way different events were told either from actual records of people, comm logs, or the official propaganda of the Earth’s government/corporations. I also like how you managed to avoid the infamous trap of any sci fi stories for time periods and dates, by simply making this so far into the future that there is a new different calendar system altogether.

This is a tough one to review cause i liked it but the sheer amount to read to get the full details of the story was really overwhelming for me. Regardless from what i got the setting is really cool and one thing is that with how much details you put into the worldbuilding of everything, you can return to this setting to make more games out of it ^^

Anyway, i really applaude the amount of work you guys put in the passion shows trough it all, art, music and writing.

Good job to all :)

Really cool aesthetic with the feeling of reading multiple accounts on a damaged CRT. The art was great too and the storytelling was excellent! I do wish there could have been more in the ways of branching paths, but I realize that would probably get in the way of the real gameplay of piecing together the narrative itself, so that's more of a preference thing on my part. Great work!

Ooo a wiki-game, a mecha-wiki-game. Very well done! And good visuals too!

Amazing atmosphere and world building.  Love how the story shifted between different voices and context and there was a lot of great subtext that was making me say "oooohhhh okay" out loud.  The tension between the official accounts and the darker truths really feel like it's chipping away the veneer of war.

It can be a bit daunting when you don't know how deep the wiki link rabbit-hole is so I'm not sure if there's a way to indicate that somewhere (maybe a map or percentage completion?) without breaking the experience.  Like in the beginning part of me was wondering if someone generated 1000 pages of dialogue with ChatGPT or if there were circular links haha.  But I got past it and pulled into the story so it's probably not an issue.

Really impressed by the depth of story you put together in 2 weeks and the illustrations supported it well.

Damn, when I clicked on this I was expecting a fairly short branching mech-themed narrative. I wasn't expecting to be spat out an hour and a half later after reading every page, and feeling so emotionally invested. There's some great writing here, some genuinely chilling lines. Not sure who wrote what here, but both writers did a fantastic job. The art and music are also excellent, I adore the art style, and the music seriously helped with the atmosphere on many of the pages. This is the best entry I've played thus far. Really amazing job!

Two minor points of critique, I do feel like reading the Ceresian side first would probably help set things up better, as I did feel much more "thrown in" by starting with the Earth side, but having the choice at the beginning is still a cool idea. There's also a minor bug, in that if you're pressing space to advance text, the transition at the end of the last Ceres article doesn't kick in properly. I had to refresh the page and let it play out again before it worked.

Developer(+1)

Admittedly the transition was made with kinda waiting things out in mind: I'm not surprised it kinda breaks if you skip past it, but I guess that's on me for not designing with that in mind! Without a bit of testing, I'm not exactly sure how I'd go about fixing it right this second, but it's something I'd definitely want to figure out -- Especially since you're not the only person to bring it up, haha.

I am really glad you liked it though! In general, the Ceresian side of the story was written by me, and the Vega Hawthorn/UETO line was written by Woodaba. I was a bit concerned with the length being a bit "much" for a Jam game; a whole hour-plus story *is* a big time investment. But... well, jeez, "best entry" makes it feel all worth it yknow? So thank you ;;

And yeah, I was really happy with the art and music here; of the three artists I've worked with, I've respected the work of two of them for a long time (to the point of working with at least one of them before, ha), and the graphic designer we got did really wonderful work... Even with the couple issues I have with this game (mostly just not having the time I wanted to proof read lmao), I'm still beyond happy with how this came out, and I'm ecstatic that people like it as much as they do.

Developer

Thinking about this a tiny bit, the transition there is on a time trigger to match up with when the in-game typing ends; hypothetically they should still progress, but you'd basically just be sitting there for as much as half a minute 💀💀💀

I'll... Think of something, lmao

Very stylistic and nice to look at. I wish every part had some music though. It sticks out in some places. One thing that I also liked was that even in the far future, we still get good old shitposting on anonymous image boards. Also I'd like to know where I can get 85k TB of RAM.

I liked the concept and story, some editing and tuning should be done. I would have liked a fastforward option so I could read at my own pace during the dialogue sections. Sound seemed to only play intermittently, the first few screens were silent for me.

Submitted(+1)

It was mentioned somewhere that pressing space would do just that actually.

I must have missed that, my mistake!
