Is your game a video game or a physical game?
Video Game

Was your game made solo or in a team?
Solo

Did you use any third party assets, if yes what assets did you use?
Buzzing sfx was from www.fesliyanstudios.com. The portrait for Minerva was initilaly AI generated on my local Stable Diffusion and then modified in Krita. The Dialogic plugin for Godot provides the VN backend.

Did you choose from one (or more) of the optional secondary themes?
Technically Dragon, but it doesn't affect anything though. Minerva was already planned to be one.

Does your game contain 18+ content (Nudity, Gore, Language)?
No.

The story is quite interesting. I like the idea of a dragon being a hologram person AI assistant thing. Would love to see more visuals and audio.

Overall nice job!

The writing is nice, and as the central point here I feel like focusing on that was the right move. I get a pretty good idea of the character between Guy and Minerva, and capturing that well within a limited time frame is pretty impressive in it's own right. Would have loved more in the way of art assets; backgrounds, UI and UX elements during the VN sections, more portrait art, but as is it definitely gets the essentials across.  More in the way of audio design and music would be great as well.

The 3D sections are rough, admittedly, but as a proof of concept it's very neat. Having the combination of VN and FPS gameplay is neat, and would love to see it expanded on.

I'm not a fan of AI art in general (consider it moral grounds, haha), but for a solo dev it's understandable; having it as a sort of blueprint-y foundation works, and in a game jam game I understand it, but I would love to see actual artists giving a take on Minerva.

Overall, I like what you're doing here, and would love to see more in the future. Good job!

Yeah, when it comes to AI it's either a blueprint or placeholder for me. It's a fun way for me to figure out what kind of designs work for what I want.  Though for more complete works I tend to be picky and have a very specific workflow of editing and inpainting. I didn't leave myself nearly enough time for myself to even think of using that workflow unfortunately and the actual programming was eating up almost all my dev time. All I managed to get done unfortunately was Minerva with a few edits in Krita to get the hologram look and those low-poly lights in Blender.

That aside, thanks. Glad you enjoyed the experience.

Hey I quite liked the story but I would have preferred more images. I also noticed there were some brackets in odd places occasionally, I wouldn't normally comment on that in a jam but when text is the primary element, I think it has to 100% perfect. I've done the pick a path thing myself before and it's very enjoyable. I used Google sites as it's easy to put in the images and text and to link buttons etc, I used AI to create it all. Thanks for the heads up. I didn't realize I left some extra stuff in accidentally. I was cutting it close to the cut off time and probably missed those since it was late at night.

Will have to try this again on my own to properly read through it all.

I wanted to try this but the windows build insta crashes on launch, not sure what happened :(

Developer

I exported a copy called 'WindowsCompat' that uses Godot's compatability rendering setting. This causes the FPS portion's lighting to break significantly, but hopefully the rest of the game now works for you.

Yep it worked this time around, played it and rated it :) so here’s what i thought :

Its a pretty cool concept, really like the AI character’s design and also the fact that the player character’s a scavenger that uses some DIY equipment made from whatever he could find to go on his missions (really curious to see how you’d represent that visually cause it seems rad ^^)

The little conversation with Minerva once you reactivate her was nice and i like the bit of banter they have cause she’s not too happy waking up 20 years later with part of her memory missing, but comes to realise she just has to go with things as they are now.

The pre mission menu where you can get an overview of your gear and mission details is also a nice touch.

For the main Fps segment movement is fast and responsive, but yeah seems like you didn’t have time to finnish things but that’s ok, it’s a jam, you’ve already made quite alot all things considered ^-^ and yep not sure if it’s due to the patch that made it possible to run but the lighting seems indeed broken cause the map is very dark.

For what’s there i really enjoyed it, there are some cool ideas in place :)

Thanks. The armor and the two guns that fire rivets and bolts respectively would have textures that made them look like they were made out of scrap metal, parts and pipes. The firearms that actually uses chemical propellant would have looks like a firearm is very good condition. That one is based on the H&K G11 with its caseless ammunition.

Cool :) almost like an HL2 or some of the Metro Weapons (at leat that’s how i’d imagine it with the description)

Yeah i recall you mention caseless ammo in the gear overview, so it makes sense to get the inspiration from one of the most sci-fi guns there was IRL :p

Hi there! It looks like there's not a game attached from my perspective, and as a dragon enthusiast, I'd like to see!

Developer

Hot damn you're right. I thought I uploaded them but the downloads aren't there! Let me fix this.

Developer

Thanks for the catch. It should be open now. It was last when I was uploading, so I accidentally left new downloads disabled on for some reason. I wish someone told me sooner.

I'm digging Minerva and Guy's characters, the dynamic you've set up has an interesting starting point and a lot of interesting directions it could go in. I'm sure you know the 3d section's rough: I did find and kill the turret, but I ran off the edge of the map and restarted a few times, just to figure out if there was something else in the dark I was missing. Glad the download permissions are sorted out! This dragon enthusiast enjoyed the writing!
