This is such a cool idea for a puzzle game!  Easy to pick up and play, and I like that you added a playable tutorial to learn the mechanics.  I loved it, and I think this could make a really neat and addictive mobile game!

I ran into a bug where I killed the last enemy on screen but also died at the same because I didn't have enough health, but then when I reset the game the exit was right next to me.  Was that supposed to happen?

Also:

Is the game randomly generated and did I just get very unlucky with the amount of enemies on the screen? :D

Developer

It's randomly generated. This was one of the very unlikely edge cases we ignored. Sorry you were the one who faced it. 😞

The game may appear simple on the first glance, but it seems like a lot of work has been done under the hood.

The gameplay really makes you think, it’s great as a puzzle.

I enjoyed the tutorial at the very beginning, it seamlessly integrates into the game. Great job!

Thanks for playing.

Even you've built an awesome game!

I've done all the calculations on Google sheets before writing the code.

Brilliant! Made it to the end, enjoyed it. Reminded me of “Look, Your Loot!” game. And that’s great, it’s been a long time since something like that came out. You should definitely keep developing it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your suggestion.

Will check the game you mentioned.

I really love this idea! I've also messed around with a similar mechanic in GDevelop after thinking about how much I enjoyed games like DungeonRaid and Card Crawl on iOS but never completed it. Now I feel encouraged to come back to that prototype again and tinker around.

You did a great job explaining the mechanics in the beginning and the instructions on the page are clear as well. Your UI is also easy to read and not intrusive. Overall just a completely solid gameplay loop, nice sprites, and a good challenge.  Impressive work!

wow great concept! I'm a fan of this little puzzle game, it's so clever and super addictive. Well there are still a lot of bugs currently and so it's not easy to play and also especially for the WASD keys??? why not the keyboard arrows (or better a gamepad). In any case you have everything to make a great game with a little feedback effect etc...ah and also the DA is too good. a minimalism that goes with the concept of the game. Bravo

Developer

Thanks for playing.

Can you specify which bug you encountered?

my skeleton wanders outside the limits, especially at the bottom and the door of the level which appears below the elements of the level while the game begins and if ever I take it it makes me restart the level as if I had lost

Developer(+1)

Thanks for letting me know. Somehow we didn't encounter this during playtesting. Will look into this for sure!

yeah when my son tests the games I make, he always manages to find incredible bugs that I would never have thought of...

Neat concept, feels very retro

I couldn’t play this through as of now, but I’m really digging the base idea, so I’ll return for sure.

The idea of combining a sliding puzzle with randomly appearing (or at least it feels like that) cards from a FIXED deck per level is a neat, while keeping a certain rpg/dungeoncrawl feel to the game.

The music is too loud for me on my standard PC settings, so I’d look into that later. Graphically I dig what you have here, overall a cool job! Well done!

Big fan of this type of strategy / puzzle game where you have to plan ahead, balancing when to take hits vs when to stay alive. Music was quite fitting, and I loved the simple graphics which worked perfectly for this game. The difficulty balance was on point, and several times, I was just running on a single HP. I feel that this could be a really fun successful mobile game. You could add additional enemy types, like a ticking bomb, or an enemy that empowers its neighbors over time, etc.

Great job!

This is a fun little strategy loop. I had to restart at one point because I managed to move off screen when the ghost first appeared. I'm not sure how! But once in the game, I found it to be nice and satisfying to plan out my next move. Good use of the resolution too, I think the art works perfectly for 64x64. The shadows behind the sprites really makes it pop. Nice job with the game, I think it is really true to the low-rez spirit. It would have been a great Game Boy game.

Also- I haven't seen a game made with GDevelop before- looking it up, this looks cool!

Developer

Thank you for your playing and the feedback!

That's a new bug that we didn't discover during testing. Will fix that after the jam.

Solid mechanics and pretty fun, I do think the graphics could be a little more clear tho, maybe adding a black outline to all the text would help, and I would push the blue BG towards to a darker gray.

Overall, I liked it :)

Happy to hear your feedback.

Will have to explore a bit more of aesthetics.
