That was a pretty fun game. I particularly liked bouncing the grenades back at enemies and the music is just great. I do think the enemies should have either a health bar or some kind of visual cue that they've been hit though. There were a few times where I'd shoot an enemy and then just assume I'd missed somehow since nothing happened.

The game looked great and the graphics were really consistent.  The weapons were cool but the movement could have been a bit more fluid for me.  I liked the sun thing that follows you and reminded me of the sun from OG Mario desert level.  The 8 bit music helped emphasize the fun of the game.

awesome game! the pixel scaling is on point, which i know is not the easiest thing to do sometimes. Everything was polished well and ran smoothly. Nicely done!

This game was a lot of fun! Felt very polished and the controls were very responsive. I thought the levels were well designed and the game as a whole was a ton of fun to play through. The pixel art looked good and I loved the music tracks. Nice job!

Finally beat it. The game is well rounded, but there are a couple of flaws. One, the controls are not very easy to handle as people have been saying, and the graphics need a bit of work (but you know, it's a game jam so ye). I'm not sure what the scary smiley face is, a bit of clarification would be nice. But overall it's a pleasant experience :)

This was more fun than i had expected haha!
Its very simple and nice, i feel the only problems are with the grenades, especially when the player throws them, they should explode on impact because they usually just fall off the platforms, but not the enemy ones, its fun bouncing them back to the enemy. Also the background could be more colorfull and varied.
And for Historically Accurate points it falters a little bit :)
But overall, its a nice little game. Congrats!

Really well done! I'd say the main thing I would have liked would be some visual indication of the enemies taking damage, even just a health bar. Nice little challenge, took me a few tries to beat the boss! I also found the little easter egg room completely on accident haha. Also, I enjoyed bouncing grenades back at the enemies!

Enjoyed playing the game. Reminded me of those old pixel platformer games of the past.

Mechanics were well done for the type of game: simple yet effective.

Sidescrollers not usually my jam, but the 'lost arcade game' is a fun idea for a framing device :) And nice patriotic chiptune of course

Great game, loved the music and mechanics! Reminded me of megaman sort of.  I think the grenade ability was a cool idea too, it was tricky to use but rewarding if you got the hit. I think if there was anything to tweak maybe it could be the jump, it felt a little floaty. Great job overall!

This was really fun. The difficulty curve started off really easy and then quickly ramped up but I found it worked well for the game. There were some small things that I wasn't sure if they were features or bugs (being able to knock grenades back at the thrower) but overall they made the game more fun and I felt like I was finding my own way to play.

Hey, thanks for playing our game! When it comes to throwing the grenades back, it was originally a consequence of Godot's physics, but after making sure that it glitvhes out slightly less we decided on keeping it as it was a fun mechanic to play around with
