Nice attempt at a basketball game, defintely needs a bit more polish. Not entirely sure how well the theme fits. Would have been fun if you had to throw two balls, or throw at two different hoops at the same time.
Yeah in hind-sight there could have been many more clever takes on the theme... The initial name was "It Takes Two... Points" with basketball hoops being worth 2 points , but I changed it to Shoot For Two so we didn't have a million games named It Takes Two.
But no hidden meaning, just literally 2 point baskets are the line to the theme.
It can be tricky to figure out how to best apply a theme, it's a bit luck of the draw whether a theme gels both from us as organisers and for people participating.
All in all, a nice attempt, thanks for joining in!
Highscore for big balls: 14 Small balls: 22
Simple basketball trainer, played a couple of rounds and then clicked around and found the small balls as well. Like Puntit said, it was hard to see the icons for the small/big balls buttons. I think there should have been some more feedback when getting score maybe some particles. I liked the models of the machine, it looked like the real deal. Fun with the godot sticker on the head of the basketball player as well.
In general I think that the game was a bit too simple for me too hold my interest for more than a couple of rounds. Maybe the hoops could move or you could force the player to use both hands somehow (maybe every other needs to be from different hands?). You could expand this to create a whole arcade hall with different machines like the boxing one, whack a mole and maybe airhockey (that would require some form of opponent though).
Good ideas. I definitely would have added more fanfare if I had time. I had planned a background track for "arcade noises" and some blurry arcade cabinets strewn about for atmosphere as well, but I wound up having to work and only had about 3 total days to work on it. More to add after the jam I guess.
The lights made it difficult to see the buttons and it took me quite a minute to understand which buttons to press to start the game XD But once started, it was totally fun!
*sarcastic face* what, you had trouble seeing the huge glowing green START text?
lol j/k. Can you please take a screenshot and let me know what system you were playing on? I'm trying to document some discrepancies between what I saw developing on Index/SteamVR and what players are seeing on their systems.
I had no trouble seeing the START and RESET texts! I just had trouble understanding that those were buttons instead of just labels for the buttons that were below them. And the icons in those buttons were what I couldn鈥檛 see at first, so I kept pressing the small balls button thinking that it was the START button 馃槄
I was playing in a Meta Quest 2, with SteamVR as runtime, but I can鈥檛 take screenshots atm
Yeah, decals inherit transparency from the surface they are cast on, and it seems this is more pronounced on some systems than others. Switching to the darker lighting at the last minute seems to have exacerbated it as well. Thanks for calling it out. Not sure if we're allowed to alter games during the jam, but definitely something to fix.
The game looks and feels good.
But it seems to fail to detect goals, and crashes rather often.
I'm not completely sure how it fits the theme, but maybe I missed something?
What system are you playing on? I developed it on Steam VR and it works perfectly.
Also... "Shoot for 2" ... basketball... 2 points per goal (It takes 2) ...
I played on a Quest 2 with SteamVR
