Game Description
In Empty Room you will help Emma, a happy little girl, to fill in the void left by her loss, building an indoor garden with bright and colorful flowers!

How does your game tie into the theme?
In Empty Room, I used the "void" theme as an emotional void, represented by dark colors, which can be filled by life (plants) and colors to win the game.

Really liked this entry, it's such a sweet idea! It kind of didn't really feel cosy in the sense that I didn't know what I was doing and kept losing 😅  The indicators aren't exactly clear without labels and there's no time to get your bearings. BUT, during the short time it was actually in play, it was pretty fun. The music is really calm yet depressing at the same time, which tracks with the sense of inner emptiness. Great work on your first jam!!!

nice entry.  Made a girl happy by giving her some flowers. I just wished there were more levels.

I love the art and music  ! Plus, I love the fact you take the theme "void" in a metaphorical way.

The game is very chill but unfortunately too fast for me at first. I wished I could chill on it more and not have to speed too much on it.

But after a retry, the game is insane!

Nice experience  anyway!

Damn dude, the music and art really makes the game, like, legit. Quite soothing, beautiful and still quite melancholic, it fits.

A semi-chilled game with a surprising pace.

Seems really polished with a great feeling placing mechanic. It reflects the theme well although it would've been nice to maybe make the colours less subdued as the room brightens up, as is, it feels a little depressing even with a room full of flowers.

Great work!

I came to let you know that Emma is saved. Thank you, this was very calming.

I'm glad to hear that, hope you liked it!

Great submission! Unique take on the theme, really great art and sound design. I think it was a bit difficult with the short timer to quickly understand the objectives, controls, and implement a strategy. After restarting a few times though I got the hang of it. Nicely done!

The idea is simply great! :)

Very beautiful game. The sound effects and music fit really well. Only suggestion would be to maybe ramp up the difficulty. It is tough to get the hang of it with so little time at the start.

This was beautiful, I love it.

The gameplay is engaging, and although some kind of tutorial would be great - the mechanics are intuitive and well-designed enough for you to be able to figure out how the game works just by trial and error. There is a great layer of optimization in the game - I assume there is a perfect winning strategy to it, but I couldn't figure it out, with my best score being around 1800.

The visuals are wonderful - the flowers and the character's portraits look beautiful, the UI is pretty, and I love the little touches - like the picture of a dog in the room (I assume this is the friend that Emma has lost - her dog). And I love how the entire room brightens up when you win - this is very sweet.

I absolutely love the music in the game - it's very beautiful, and sets the mood perfectly.

At first I thought that the arcade-ish fast-paced nature of the game is kind of counterproductive to it's cozy vibes and gloomy narrative. I though that it was... Kind of sending the wrong message, with the girl replaying through her loss again and again. But then I thought that there is actually beauty to it. Grief is a thing that you can desperately try to escape, time and time again, but it will never completely go away. It will hit you again, it will come back - and the only thing you can do is to find better ways to cope with it - which is represented in the game by you getting better at making your own, beautiful garden full of vibrant flowers. I don't know if it was an intended message, but this is what I thought, and it's honestly - beautiful.

Well done!!!

Thank you very much for the detailed analysis and kind words! The meanings behind the story are largely open to the player, but I really like the way you interpreted it
