A little fun game. A bit hard to controll but overral good
Fun to play. Steering was a bit hard but that was expected with the black hole
A cool first project that's got a fun mechanic and a good twist on the traditional asteroid-style space shooter.
The biggest problem for me, like many others, was the controls. Turning for the ship seems random and continues long after it should stop making it very difficult to get very far. I'd like to have seen more of the spawning techniques but it was just too difficult with the turning controls.
was rlly fun to play. i had a hard time shooting the enemies and dodging the bullets cus of physics but i go the hang of it some what. would recommend making the players spaceship standout a bit more, because sometimes you can loose focus of it.
Really liked the game design of adding mass to explode a star and create a black hole, as well as the introduction which clearly explained the backstory, goal, and control scheme. Agree with the consensus that the player character is difficult to see (rather, differentiate from the rocks) and control. But for a first-ever game, this is a promising debut. Hope to see your ideas develop and refine in future jams!
really loved the sounds, made it very satisfying to hit a rocket shot :D
Congrats on the submission! I liked the idea and played like 4 times, but I think the controls are really hard (or maybe I'm just too bad at this kind of game 😅). But I found it very fun to play!
Played with my 5yo son. He said it was too hard to control because "his airplane was spinning so fast and I didn't know how to stop"!
Haha that's awesome, poor little dude
I think you went for realistic space controls? I did that on a recent jam but then dialled the realism back and added "friction" to try to help players control things easier, still got comments that it wasn't easy!
Yes I did - I think sacrificing on realism for the sake of gameplay is a wise choice to make. I played a different game this jam, Voidbound I think, that did a great job in spaceflight control (although that was a 3D game with a very different scope). This is my first ever game and I feel like I've learned a lot!
Nice entry! Maybe a bit too difficult considering the physics and the vastness of the map, though. I found it pretty hard and slow to control the ship accuratelly, specially when having to kill so many enemies with a mid-range weapon (which also made it kinda more tedious at times). Going any faster would result in me easily getting out of the screen, or falling into the blackhole, or getting hit by a random bullet.
Difficulty in the controls was definitely the weakest point in this game! Thank you for your feedback.
