Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous.

  • Enemy sounds poorly implemented, far too loud. Gun takes 5 seconds to fire after button press. Otherwise, a good looking game let down by technical issues. Theme implementation way too literal.

Art and sounds are great !

light managment seems nice too, but it should be lighter on the player vision I guess.

its just sad that the 1sec delay on shoot bug kills the gameplay ...

But without that bug, I'm sure it can be realy good.

I'll give a try if you update that after the Jam !

this game is impossible to see, even in a dark room at max brightness with no bluelight filter.

there’s dark and moody games — and then there’s dark and annoying games like St. Plage.

this is why i rated this game with 1 star in Theme: if the game has the theme, i can’t see it because i can’t see the game.

I can understand your frustration! When I playtested towards the end of the jam I did notice the environment could've had a bit more lighting to be able to even see the design of each room. Hopefully, in the future, if I'm working on lighting, I'll thoroughly playtest it.

Thanks for the feedback!

the game needs not just a little bit more lighting:

it needs to be a lot brighter to see anything.

Developer(+1)

if it was a lot brighter it would lose atmosphere unfortunately.

Submitted

no, the game would gain atmosphere because it would be possible to see the game and play it. the important thing for a dark atmosphere is not so much physical darkness, but limited visibility from most of the screen being black.

making a scene almost completely black to create a very dark atmosphere works for movies because the movie continues even when you don’t understand anything. this doesn’t work for games because games can only continue when you can understand them.

Hope you didn't strain your eyes 😊

pretty good catch of the mood you where trying to create. good use of 2D occlusion and light .

Fun entry! I'll admit that by the end I was so slow I didn't find the last monster coz I got a bit frustrated, so if there was a cool entry I'm sorry I missed it! Perhaps I should try another with fewer cursed bullets fired :D I really enjoyed the lighting and the overall creepy aesthetic

Developer

Haha I'm glad that this game we made was replayable for you. I personally wish I could've made the lighting serve as a bit of a guide to monsters, but I don't know how I could've really done that. Maybe different colored lights? Either way, thanks for playing our game!

A very nice game! Love the aesthetic.

Great game atmosphere wise :) This game sure has style.

Spooky.  Made even scarier by the gun.  Nice lighting and nice sound effects.

Submitted(+2)

Love the atmosphere and art style, the concept is cool, as some have said the sound for the enemies was a bit loud

Submitted(+3)

Atmosphere was REALLY good (though the enemy sound was just a little bit too loud), really creepy!

I sadly couldn't find the last 2 monsters, not sure where they were hiding.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad people are enjoying the atmosphere and its creepiness. Also wished we could've implemented a map in time, but alas it didn't come to fruition :(

Excellent concept idea, surprising how scary it actually felt. The lighting and music were on point!

Developer

Omg I'm glad you enjoyed it! Seeing the scary factor go up as we were developing it was definitely rewarding haha

Submitted(+2)

Dark and moody. Like the other comment, the gun feels a bit unresponsive.

Developer(+1)

Fair, leaving it till the night before does that to a feature I guess lol

Submitted(+3)

The idea behind this is awesome! I love how the shooting is tied with the movement. I felt like the movement was a bit slow and the gun was a bit slow to begin with. However that increased my terror when I ran into monsters so that must be intentional. The character design and the monsters design is very cool. I also liked that you let me know how many monsters were left.

Glad to know you had such a good time
