We were in Java too, so I could run the jar no problem. Have you looked into jpackage? You can build an executable on any OS you're on. We couldn't get our Mac one figured out but that's how we have a windows and linux executable.
I think the levels were a little big and looking for the stairs in a blank block was unintuitive - figured everything else out but didn't realize there were more until I checked the instructions on the main page. Like the weapon versatility, the name made me think I had to break blocks for new weapons though and I couldn't figure out why I could only find #1, 3, and 4.
Making in Java is ambitious compared to a nice editor like Unity - did you use LibGDX or nothing at all? Congrats on getting something close to a proper game in during the timeframe, really!!
I have not, so I will consider using that in the future. Thanks so much!
Liked it! Great work!
it was hard to get it running but I like it!
Other than trying to open the game, everything was good and fun to play!
This is really good but getting it to run was pain in the ass.
I'm sure more people would've played it if it was easier to access. Pretty sad considering how interesting of a piece this is.
Keep it up! :)
Yeah -- this game would have been so much better if I had used an applet instead of forcing people to run a jar file. Note to self during future jams, lol.
Fun twin stick! The spawning with random weapons is nice and the dual objective of get ores + defeat enemies. One thing that was a bit off was the controls. It was a bit awkward to switch weapons since I had to reach my hand all the way to the 6 button if I wanted to rapidly switch to that kind of weapon. Shooting with space also felt a bit clunky. Something that may work way better is mapping your fire action to LMB as the player already has their hand resting there and mapping space or RMB to swap to the next kind of weapon instead of having only separate ones for each weapon
Fair enough -- in fact, I was considering making the left mouse button the firing one, but some issues revealed that not clicks were registered, particularly when the mouse was moving at the same time as the app (this could be a consequence of me using Java +JavaSwing). Also, the weapons point is noted, and originally, I was going to have a '1 2 3' system, but I was wondering if that would have been just not good design. However, using RMB is a really good suggestion that I hadn't thought of, so thanks!
Fun game! Was a bit of work to get running but I enjoyed my time with it once I did. Nice job :)
Gameplay and concept are really nice! Overall great job!
Cool music and gameplay. Takes some time to get into it, but at last it's fun. good job ^^

The game is cool and I really like the variety of weapons. Although it is hard to understand at first, maybe you guys should consider adding tutorial. Great game though
I would recommend listing the controls somewhere. Didn't realize I could switch weapons for a while and believe I'm still missing something.
Edit: Nevermind, to others: Look at the game page. It has a detailed explanation of the game.
Hey Calavara, looks like a very interesting concept and I was looking forward to trying it! Unfortunately I don't think I'm able to open it? I tried through the itch app and downloading it directly. It mentions a Java and I see a jar file in the zip, is there something I need in order to play?
If it is a .jar file you will need to install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), it's free online if you decide to do so:
Java Downloads for All Operating Systems
Thank you so much for providing this solution, can I post it on the game page?
Absolutely! And no problem, hopefully it helps get more feedback.
