This seems like it would be really fun but I could not figure out exactly how to play. Also the music was pretty great.
Thanks for checking out our game! Unfortunately, we ran out of time before we could get a full tutorial put together, but we’re hoping we’ll be able to continue improving it in the coming weeks/months. As a stop-gap, you can see the basic controls on the game page. Liked your game a lot btw!
Thanks for noticing the music!! :D
The only real flaws I see was the lack of a tutorial (only in game; there's a description of controls on the game page) and the text on the dice modification page. Otherwise, good work with the customizable die!
Thanks for playing and your feedback! We tried to include a tutorial through the dialogue and tool tips, but turns out getting a dialogue system to work reliably is harder than we anticipated!
Really nice game, digging the customizable dice idea. Would like to see some kind of tutorial how the runes influence each other
EDIT: just discovered how the Shift key works
EDIT 2: would appreciate to see the effect already written on a die. Right now, Shift + number throws an exception
Thanks for playing! We were working on getting clearer explanations and presentation put together but ran out of time. Regarding the shift in the dice menu, you need to release it between calling each description, otherwise they will stack and eventually cause a crash. And now that you mention it, we didn’t really account for pressing the numbers either, thanks for catching that!
the enchanting system is adorable! I like the gameplay idea, cool game
I’m glad you enjoyed it, thank you! I had fun with your game as well :)
Loved the music and freedom of customization! Really creative game :)
Thanks for playing and I’m glad you enjoyed it! I had a blast playing yours as well :)
Cool game! Really creative, Congratulations!
Gameplay got me a little confused though, the ammount of text make the mechanics kinda hard to get.
Thanks for playing! In the die building menu (esc), if you hold shift and press the letter of the glyph it will give you a description of how it works. We want to display that information more intuitively, but we had no experience building UI and ran into a few pitfalls along the way.
Congrats on top 100, btw, and thanks for checking out something from a buncha newbies. :)
The enchanting system and the amount of text shown in each battle overwhelmed me a lot. It made it quite difficult to follow what was going on. This was probably due to time constraints though and enchantments do look like they could be really interesting. Cool!
Thanks for playing our game! Yeah, we had maybe a million things we wanted to work on or improve but alas the arrow of time ever marches forward and stopped us from cleaning up the UI a bit more. I’m glad you enjoyed the gameplay otherwise though!
no browser game? I wana play
We tried to compile to html5, but all we got was a black screen. There was no time during the jam to troubleshoot something like that so it got chopped.
You should be able to download the .jar and run it on anything with Java though!
I love the art but I keep on losing all of my battles
Have you equipped any glyphs yet? Hit escape and try out some different effects!
Wow the art is very good!!!
I love the amount of customization that you get right out of the gate with this game. I do wish that there was some info I could read about what the different glyphs do, though.
It's hidden away and not super intuitive, but you can hold shift and press the letter to get a description of that glyph! Just in case you try it out again, or for anybody else having this problem in the future.
Thanks for trying out our little project!!
The art is great, and I like the premise! But the text can be quite difficult to read without some sort of window or background behind it. Because the combat is reported in text, it can be unclear what exactly is happening since there isn't any supplementary visual feedback. Still, it's very creative overall, and I hope you guys enjoyed making it!
Thanks so much! We didn't have any experience with UI, and a lot of it didn't scale well with larger resolutions. I was hoping we could put more feedback in the dice that are rolled at the bottom of the screen.
A bit confusing controls
