How does your game fit the theme?
The player rolls a die (D6) to determine their attack / defense multiplier. A low roll could prove fatal! Also, the main character is a die, who plays the important role of protecting the space plants!

I found the idea interesting but kind of confusing
The difficulty of the game is tuned perfectly and the idea is very creative, but the dice roll doesn't seem to affect much of how you play, if you get unlucky, you can't do anything about it. The art style of the flowers doesn't seem to match well with the rest of the game, but that is purely my opinion.
Based on your postmortem comments it seems you've got a good grasp on what would need to be improved, so I won't dwell on that. Still, this is an original idea and a good first effort for a game jam, and I really enjoyed the music!
This is a good game.
It has a nice art style and is fun to play, the mechanics work well and I like the rythm aspect of the game.
Good Job!
Ayyyy prett epic game ya got there!
Like how ya made me play fingers hurt :(
I like my fingers.... ehhh good game very epic concept btw :D
Not really dice related
Thanks for the feedback! The rolling of the die did become secondary in the final product, though it was supposed to be the main mechanic for combat. Ah well, I know for next time to prioritise the theme more.
It was fun jamming out for a bunch of plants. Wasn't able to do that and focus on the combat at the same time though.
Maybe I need to make a game just about playing music for plants without trying to shoehorn it in around another theme haha
Heya man, cheers for completing a game! Though I must say I didn't really understand what to do :(
I dig the vibe though I don't think I understood what to do. Still, it's neat. :)
Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep that in mind for next time - several people have said the instructions were unclear.
The presentation was a bit cluttered, and it was hard to sus out what to do :(
I feel like the idea is there and its good but presentation fell flat with cluttered UI and little feedback on notes play, my sound at least felt out of sync. I had same kind of problems with my first jam game so i know how it is,
Very good idea, it was a little bit off the theme, as the dice played, little to no role in the actual gameplay. Still, I enjoyed the unique mechanics of the game, well done!
Thanks for the feedback! Which number you rolled on the die did determine your attack/defense multiplier, but this was kind of secondary to the game so I get why you say it was off theme haha.
A nice combination of ideas. I can see this being expanded into a frantic management game where you have to keep up the rhythm while also doing a bunch of other tasks. I think maybe the UI is a bit cluttered, though.
That was the idea I had! I'm glad it came through at least a little. Next time, I'll scope the UI smaller and cleaner ;)
I definitely enjoyed the rhythm aspect of the game. It doesn't seem like this is consistent across everyone who played the game, but for me the audio synced up well with the button presses for the plants. Trying to balance the rhythm aspect with choosing an action was a bit challenging, but that's not a bad thing. I did have a bit of difficulty in making sense of the user interface for the first few go-rounds, but I did get used to it after several attempts. I can't say I ever beat it, but it was a good first stab at a game jam!
Something tells me it didn't work well on Chromium browsers :(
Thanks for your kind feedback!
Seems like the main mechanic is playing music for plants. Not very heavy on the dice roll mechanic.
The visuals are a mix of good plant pixel art with mspaint style drawings. The colors clash and have no real cohesion.
Sound is, but the music doesn't seem to match the beat of the ASDF music player.
Why are there so many different mechanics? Oxygen? Music? Attacks? Shielding? It is hard to grasp what I need to prioritize.
Thanks for the feedback!
I'll get an actual artist to do all the art next time haha. And now I do see that the entire thing was a bit too complex/confused.
EDIT: if you meant that playing music on the beat of the background track didn't always give you points, that would be correct. I coded it quite quickly and it was far from perfect.
Hey there.
Really enjoyed the music in your game, this is the first one I've rated for the Jam. I'm not a particularly gifted rhythmic person, but I still enjoyed playing your game. If I were to give one tip, I think also having to manage the mouse made it a little tough for me, so maybe if powers fired off automatically, or were connected to the last note played or something, I could've gotten into the flow a little better. Thanks for all your hard work! 48 hours. Geez, that was tough, right?
