Nice little puzzle game, it needs some more polish but overall nice entry,  gj :D

Developer

Thanks, I hope it all turns out good in the end!

Submitted(+1)

As a first participation in game jam not bad.
There are some rough moments but with time and more experience you will get it.
Keep going

Developer

Thank you, I'll make sure to finish it as fast as I can.

Honestly, I didn’t really get what was going on… but I hope the concept was as clever as it sound

Developer(+1)

Yup... the concept is not well explained in my few rooms, I'll need to change the starting area afterwards!
You need to activate the switches in order to pass through the gates, however everything in a previous room gets reset if the dragon exits it. The idea is, sometimes you'll want to keep him in an old room that opens a path, sometimes you'll want it outside an old room that closes a path, and both at the same time. You have to choose the order in which rooms are reset based on your choice of 'new room' i.e. without any dragon part in it.

Submitted(+1)

Sadly i couldn't figure out what i was supposed to do :(

Developer

Definitely a mistake on my part for lack of explanation because of time management (at least the dragon got it...).
You need to just progress through the rooms, however you'll find your way blocked by the gates that need to be activated with the switches. And the switches reset if you keep the dragon outside the rooms in which it was active i.e. the dragon is outside the time loop.

Nice art and unique idea! lovely game :D

Developer

Thanks for trying it out!

Nice game!

Developer

Thanks!

Dragon look cool :)

Developer

Thanks, for my next trick, I'll make him sing!

Submitted(+1)

It's unfortunate that the time constraint limited this, even so its a very intriguing idea and mechanic, well done!

Developer

Thanks for sharing! I'll make sure to finish it in my spare time.

Did the game have many rough edges? Yes!
Did it have empty rooms with absolutely nothing? Yes!
Did I have to retry it 5 times because I got softlocked or had to backtrack? Yes!
Did I have fun completing this puzzle nevertheless? Absolutely!
Did I get real thirsty listening to the ambient? *takes a greedy sip* Yes!

Good job on your first submission!

Developer

They say patience is a virtue...

On a serious note, thanks for the honest review 😂. I tried my best, nonetheless a jam is a jam!
Hope you drank some water :D

The idea and mechanic is really cool, sadly the execution is a bit rough. Took me a while to figure the whole pipe thing, maybe have a pop up or something alike when you are able to use it? If you decide to keep working on it, I'd like to see it continued. Dragon art was pretty dope too, good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing!
I agree, this is a small bitter sample. I need to ease the progression, at least on the explaining part!

Submitted(+1)

Difficult puzzle game but really cool. Love the dragon.

Developer

Thanks, I hope I can give him a voice sometime.

Submitted(+1)

I did turn to the comments to help me figure this one out, but I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed playing your game! And the art of the dragon was absolutely top notch.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot!

I did play your game beforehand and I remember being surprised as I did not expect pac-man :D

I think the old games still have their charm, no matter how far tech goes.

Submitted(+1)

I finished it! Good puzzle - it stumped me for a bit

Developer

Glad you tried and stuck with it!

Submitted(+1)

Took me a bit to figure out the main mechanic but I really like that concept!

I think if the map was always on the screen and the active room icons were body segment icons it could communicate it better.

Love the art, great work :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you!
Good idea, now I need to find a way to not obstruct gameplay with the map...

Submitted(+1)

Didnt think of that :0
Might be able to move it around based on player location, make it transparent, or shrink the gameplay window to make room for a border UI and include it in that! Excited to see what could come of this :)

Developer(+1)

I'll just make the player a map 😂

Submitted(+1)

cool game! would appreciate if you checked out mine if you have time :D

Developer

sure, no problem!

One-of-a-kind atmosphere here! The dragon is pretty unsettling (in a good way). I didn’t really understand what was going on though, so I came to the comments x) seems like a concept that can make for cool puzzles. Good job c:

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'll try to expand it.

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea! It's fun to play.

Developer

Thanks for trying out!
I was hoping for a more gradual difficulty curve and maybe more puzzles, but I ended up with just this.

Good ambience with the music and the mysterious dragon, I think I can see where you are going with it, kind of metroidvania puzzle platformer. The puzzles didn't completely click for me though.

Thank you. I was actually kind of lucky with what I manged to get in a first draft.
It was a mistake on my part that the puzzle wasn’t clearly explained. Only in the dragon's presence the rooms keeps their modified state. This makes you juggle exploring with simultaneous gate states - like multiple gates towards a single goal, that conflict with eachother at a first glance, as other puzzle games have done.
I ended up here, because I planned for more... guess I am in the loop too!

The choice of music, black silhouettes, and dynamic dragon following the player create a fascinating atmosphere. Unfortunately, even after reaching the "Unfortunately, this is all" room, I feel like I haven't understood the game's premise. My best guess is that the dragon's tail causes rooms to be reset, although I formed this theory only after a couple minutes of confusion about how the switches and gates worked.

There's a very interesting idea in here, and I hope to see a more developed map to support it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for reviewing, I will try to finish my idea.
Yes, you are absolutely right, the dragon is the thing that keeps rooms outside the loop. Balancing room visits with concurrent obstacles is the premise, however teleporters, while offering shortcuts, can distort the overall flow of the queue.
Also, it doesn't help the queue updates only in new grid positions - think of the snake game, but you can walk over yourself, and only the head moves (and maybe let the old head in place, create a new one when you exit the body, maybe one more mechanic... and that's a new snake - Maybe call it hydra or something).
There's a pretty big jump in difficulty from step 1 to step 2 of the puzzle, but I ended up scrapping my idea for a prologue, because of time constraints. Guess I should be better next time!
