I like the concept but was confused at the beginning. Once I got the hang of it it became super fun!

How does your game fit the theme?
The gameplay loop of the inspiration, The Exit 8, consists of loops. We tried to carry a similar idea of looping through the same rooms with little changes each time into our game.

The idea is cool, i haven't played exit 8 so it is my first experience with a game like this. I think my main problem is i don't really know what to look for to know when to turn back, the tutorial is very cryptic and you don't really have a phase where you know: ok now i must pay attention and remember THIS room.
The music is nice, i read the comment that some sounds aren't playing and that is probably part of the reason why it is so hard, a real shame that happened. The pixel art is good, and overall i enjoyed the aesthetic
I get the idea, and its a good game, although i find it difficult ti find what is happening.
Of course I should have expected exit 8 type games after the theme announcement lol. Nice job on setting the atmosphere and composing the music! The echoing footstep sfx would help a lot with the vibe if it was there.
Admittedly I was annoyed by the tutorial message popping up every time after I mess up, not too much of a deal tho
The footsteps SHOULD be there, but apparently something about the html broke it for whatever reason :sob:. Unfortunate, but nothing we could really do about it with the time we had. And yeah, we've definitely heard the tutorial is annoying lol - bit of an oversight combined with little remaining time. I could fix it SO easily with the benefit of hindsight, but it still didn't happen haha. Thank you for playing!
Interesting implementation! nicely done :D, a little hard to play with no audio, I'd recommend having a visual indicator (or an option) to see when 'audio cues' would pop up, but thats extra scope so not holding it against y'all for the jam
Cool little adaptation of Exit 8 gameplay loop. The graphics are cool but I think it could be a little bit creepier
Fun game anyways!
Cool style! If I had more patience, I would have tried to figure it out, but I think I kept getting turned around. Fun style and idea though!
it took me way longer than I want to admit to figure it out but I managed to reach the exit. Overall I really like the artwork, props to the artists making it and the whole vibes of the game are really nice
Overall fun game! I knew how exit 8 worked, so I was able to adjust to the game pretty quickly, but I have to admit seeing the start message over and over got a bit confusing.
I expected games like this after theme announcement. (Got same idea at first XD)
The game feels good actually, like it
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It's definitely interesting to see the difference in reception between someone who has never played The Exit 8, and someone who's already beat the initial learning curve in another scenario. We also expected to see a lot of similar games lol, especially since it was the first thought of like- half our team :sob:. Thank you for playing! :D
I had a hard time keeping track of progress. I'm not sure if I lost the game multiple times or if I was making progress, because the tutorial screen kept showing up. The idea is really cool, though and the art is incredibly good! Congrats :D
The tutorial screen does keep reappearing, but it should have a different message ("Lost in the dark...") at the start each time it repeats to show that a mistake was made. It's definitely a bit confusing, due to a mix of the tutorial being weirdly set up (mb, I didn't have enough time to make it more elegant) and just due to the style and idea of the game in general. Thank you for playing!
I like the concept for this game! I was having a tough time figuring out where I was supposed to go, but that might be a skill issue.
You basically loop back to the start whenever you make a mistake, with the first message changing to show that something new actually happened. We realized it was confusing a bit too late to change it, but part of it is just a consequence of the style of game being very focused on figuring out how to succeed and remembering what you do. Thank you for playing!
