I love Monument Valley, so the moment I read  it was for fans of that I knew I had to play it! I think it's cool you were able to implement a simple version of that game's mechanics. The game is a little buggy, in particular when it came to moving the character. I tried holding down the right click as well as moving the robot one square at a time, but while those strategies helped, neither of them worked consistently. Also in the first puzzle after the tutorial the robot kind of zips up ahead of the blocks when you try to scale them upwards. And I believe a couple of levels after that I was unable to get the robot upwards without it falling and resetting to the beginning, which meant unfortunately I was unable to finish the game. Still, the aesthetics are lovely and the robot is very cute.

A nice simple game that recreates its inspiration well and has potential to be a chill time once the bugs are worked out. Nice work!

man idk the bugs only happen for some people as u can see even in this comments thread. i dont know why they occur at all but i think i got fixes for those so do try the game after the jam! thank you

Developer

ive just published a fixed version of the game, u can try it now if u have the time!

A cute game, I lreally loved it. Interesting idea to use the perspective as an puzzle element.

Developer

thanks alot!

There's something so soothing about isometric art, loved the little message at the end too! Lovely calming time :)

Developer(+1)

thanks alot for the review! i really wanted to make it a calm and relaxing game so im glad it worked out

A very nice self contained game with coherent aesthetic and great level design. I really enjoyed while I played this game.  Great work!

Beautiful message. Impressive that you did this all yourself. Great Game :).

I really like this game! I actually like that because of the perspective you don´t always know what plane are you, it gives very Escher vibes and adds a layer of difficulty to the puzzle.  It also reminds me of Monument Valley because of it and because of the style that is very cute and clean.  Also as an FYI I played in Chrome and I didn´t encounter any issue, it worked very smooth for me :)

Good job!

Developer

ya see it works for some people and doesnt work for some this is the part that confuses me :Sob: thanks anyway for the rating

It was probably already mentioned, but I head some issues:

  • Movement problems - when I click character would move in only like 1 in 10 times. I’m guessing it’s a quirk of a physics in a Web build, and player’s box collider gets stuck on block colliders (since they all are separate colliders I assume).
  • Character falls when scaling up - when you scale the block upwards while standing on it you get pushed to the side and fall. Do you not modify character’s position in that case? Because if not, physics just pushes player out of the collider in the closest direction, which is sideways.
  • Because of the perspective it’s not clear if blocks are on the same plane, or under one another. I think adding some gradient on block colors that depends on depth would help with that.

Other than that, the idea seems interesting, the visuals look cute, and I really liked the tutorial. Unfortunately didn’t manage to finish the game, but still, good job!

Developer

It's very annoying that these problems don't occur to all the people, cuz I didn't only test myself but also had other people streaming from their laptops and testing it with me before I uploaded and everything worked fine. I still have no idea why it's causing problems for some people

Developer

Wait what browser are u using

Submitted

Same thing on both Firefox and Chrome.

Developer

ah, ive published a fixed version now that the jam is over, try the game out if ur free!

Submitted(+1)

Just checked. I still have a problem with character not moving when I click sometimes, although less often. And character falling because of upward movement is fixed.

Submitted(+1)

Really cool. Unfortunately the block would always clip the character and make them fall when using it as an elevator. Tried several times and only scaled one block at a time but never got all the way up without clipping through. Still a cool game though!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, i already have a fix for that and I will update the game after the jam so be sure to check it out!

Cool concept, had fun !

thanks for the feedback!

This is really cool game great job

Developer

yoo thanks!

I appreciate it having a tutorial. It made the experience much better. I loved how the isometric view and plain colors played a part on the puzzles by making it hard to know on first sight what connected with what. Kind of like an optical illusion. Overall looks really nice and it's relaxing to play. When using the scaling as an elevator, it looks a bit buggy when I play it but still, one of the best games I have played in this jam. Played it fully and loved the message at the end :)

Developer(+1)

hey thanks so much for the compliments. i really made sure that the tutorial was very direct and comprehensible. and im glad u liked the message at the end :)

Really enjoyable and creative puzzle game. Fits the theme very well. Also creating this game as a solo dev is very impressive. Props to you!

Developer

yoo thanks for playing and thanks for the compliment! its quite hard but its fun for sure!

Super clean, I like the UI and style of it! The scaling while standing bug reaaally messed me up on it though, but I got the vision and managed to power through on a few of them, lemme know if you end up fixing that and I'll give it another go

Developer

thanks, but what scaling while standing bug? does the player fall off if u scale while hes standing on the scalable block?

Developer

ive disabled sharedarraybuffer on itch as it was required before but now its not. can u check if the scaling while standing bug is fixed now?

Submitted

Yeah standing on the block and scaling still knocks me off most times, also I can't right click to move further than 1 or 2 blocks which I think is unintentional, lemme know if you can push a patch after the jam and I'll try

Developer

What OS are u on? Cuz idk Im still not able to find the cause of these bugs as they don't happen to everyone

Developer

i pushed the patch! u can try it now and hopefully u wont encounter any other bugs

Submitted(+1)

This is a very crisp game, the gameplay is unique and the style reminds me of Fez, which I love. And a solo dev too?? Wow, very nice job!

I struggled on some of the puzzles due to perspective but that's part of the experience so, very very nice!

Developer

thanks! and yeah it was quite a hard time to do it as a solo dev but i powered through. also quick question, did u get any bug regarding to scaling the block upwards when the player was standing on it wherein the player would just fall off?

Submitted

I did! Wasn't sure if it was just me initially but watched a friend play some of your game too and they also had the same issue

Developer

is it possible to send me a video of it on discord or smth? my username is Chickensio

Cool reincarnation of Monument Valley! I really liked the concept and enjoyed playing the game but the resizing thing was kinda bugged for some reason and sometimes went inside other blocks or didn't show few random blocks on the created path :( Still I think you did a nice job making this game :)

Developer(+1)

yeah i mentioned it in the description as well.. the resizing bugs out if u move your mouse too fast so just be a little gentle with it and itll work. i know it should work normally but i didnt have the time to fix it. thanks for playing though!

Submitted(+1)

Monument Valley-ish visuals, nice concept, but the movement was a little broken for me, I couldn't really get the player to move every time, the character would just lean whenever I right clicked. Sometimes it works though.

Developer(+1)

did u click on straight lines towards the player or was there a turning in the path from the player to the block u clicked? because the player can only move on straight lines so u have to click on the straight axes. if u did and it didnt work can u mention if ur own windows or mac or linux?because only some people have this issue with movement. thanks for playing though,

Submitted (1 edit)

I'm on Windows, and yes, I right clicked on straight paths, but the movement only works sometimes. Scaling works fine tho.

Developer(+1)

hmm i dont really know why it happens. in scaling there is an issue if u move ur mouse too fast it creates gaps but in that i know the cause and ill fix it after the jam but this movement bug i cannot find the reason at all.

Submitted(+1)

absolutely enjoyed this game omg. i absolutely adore puzzle games and i can absolutely see where this could lead to in the future. this would be a great jumping off point for an entire game, methinks. i just can't congratulate u enough!

Developer

Yoo thanks alot for this review! Im so glad u enjoyed it this much!

Submitted(+1)

For a moment I thought this would become a game about breaking perspective, haha!
Cute text at the end!

Developer

Ay thanks! There could be levels in the future breaking perspective idk

Submitted(+1)

I love the simplicity, art, and clarity the game gave me. Also, it was pretty cool how you were introducing the concepts one by one, so in the end, I knew what was actually possible. While it reminded me of Monumentum Valley, the idea of scaling boxes fit very well. I had a fun time. Great job!

Developer

Yoo thanks! I actually took heavy inspiration from monument valley. From the concept of being an isometric puzzle game to the artstyle and the relaxing nature of the game. I even watched monument valley gameplay just to try to catch the vibe and reproduce that here. And the tutorial and difficulty scaling was something I usually don't get right so I decided to sit down and actually put effort into making it this time. So I'm glad u could find it easy to understand the concepts!
